We live for paddling. Anton Prijon sen. made history in canoeing. He was not only one of the best and most successful kayak athletes in his day, he was also an exceptionally gifted tinkerer and constructor of kayaks. In the meantime, the small workshop developed into a world-renowned kayak- and paddle building company. More than ever, we are now a sports-mad company and family and you can recognize our enthusiasm in our products. At Prijon, we put a great value on all of our kayaks being manufactured by hand without piecework. We envision ourselves as a modern organization, which knows where it comes from. Laptop and lederhosen, we are always enthusiastic. Toni Senior passed his love for watersports to his children and grandchildren; all of them are active on the water. Today’s owner Toni Junior became canoe slalom world champion in 1987 and with his kids, which are both “kayak-obsessed”, the third generation is growing up.

PriLite-kayaks are thermoformed with heat in a computerized vacuum process. Deck and hull are inextricably linked with each other by a U-profile.
As a manufacturer of kayaks with a tradition of more than 50 years, we’re proud of our Bavarian origin and homeland and feel comfortable here. In the factory and with our customers we foster a family environment, long-term friendships and relationships are important to us.
Our laminated kayaks out of GRP or CA are hand-laminated in the traditional way and extremely light and stiff. The mounting of the deck and interior fittings is diligently made by hand on all PRIJON-kayaks. We concept the majority of our equipment ourselves or together with our trusted partners, to fulfill the high demands on both quality and functionality. With continuous quality management we ensure the best possible service for kayaks and accessories.
The production of our products in Germany secures jobs and stays in the country. We stand for sustainable thinking and acting. Short delivery channels enable us to constantly check the quality and to save the environment. Our enthusiasm and our love for kayaking animate us to try new things and develop innovative products.
Sustainable & responsible We produce where the market is: our HTP kayaks are produced in Rosenheim/D. By doing so, we have short delivery channels to our dealers. Short delivery channels of our suppliers: Approx. 80 % of our parts come from suppliers who are located within 300 km of our factory. As a result we have low emissions and low costs of energy for the delivery; and at the same time the value in the country is increased. In house energy generation: The heat of the process of the production of the hulls is used for the heating of the production building. Another part of our needed energy is produced by our photovoltaic system on the roof. We sew our products ourselves: All of our sewing-parts are made by hand, by our own employees, in our own sewing room. Thereby we save costs and energy for the delivery, secure important jobs and can ensure the best quality to meet your demands.
Innovation & Perfection The innovative PRIJON products are developed by our experienced team, guided by the canoe slalom world champion Toni Prijon. More than 50 years of experience, combined with testing at the absolute limit and the goal to develop the best products in the world for kayaking, animate us to realize our ideas. From the first idea, a rough drawing, to the development of prototypes, till the start of production, we continuously test our products and optimize them to perfection. Thanks to this effort and our unique HTP-material, combined with the blow molding production, we can offer you the best kayaks in the world. THE LOST COAST
We are the expeditioners Cristian Donoso (Chile) and Roger Rovira (Catalunya) and we paddled 600 Km (324NM) through the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, in Patagonia, south of Chile. With an extension of 3,525,901 Ha, this is the biggest National Park in Chile and the tenth biggest in the World. Its coast is crowned by the Andes, and the vast Campo de Hielo Patagonico Sur (Southern Patagonian Ice Field), makes the access from land very difficult. In its middle area, an extensive labyrinth of channels and fjords comes from the glaciers to the Pacific Coast, making boats go through traps and a deceitful coast. We were pushed to discover and explore through this mysterious and lonely coast by sea kayak.
Caleta Tortel was the start and end point of our trip. We had to pack our kayaks to be covered for a month. Clothes, tent, cooking utensils, sleeping bag and mat, photography and film equipment, emergency kit, communications kit and, of course, food. We wouldn’t pass any inhabited places during the whole trip, so we simply couldn’t forget anything. From now on, our lives were depending on our kayaks and those things. Our first purpose was to locate the small Indio Isthmus, which we reached after 3 days. A portage of about 500 meters saved us 80 Km around Swett Peninsula. There was a path equipped with crossbars that helped us to transport the kayaks. The Kawésqar - the old inhabitants of this territory - built up this trail. Even if we had to cover only a few hundred meters, the transportation of all our equipment in land took us several hours of tough work. Once on the other side, we were closer to our second purpose.

The following days, we got closer to our main purpose, the mysterious oceanic coast of Bernardo O’Higgins National Park. The curiosity and anxiety increased between us as we got closer. Before getting there, we had to cross the wide channels of Messier and Fallos. The strong currents made planning especially relevant. 12 days after leaving Tortel, we paddled along the channel Octubre, the last one before reaching the open ocean. We observed the changing landscape, wider, with more sparse vegetation, a huge marine environment. Suddenly, two penguins jumped in front of our kayaks, nimbly appearing and disappearing in the water. The ocean welcomed us with 1.5m waves and moderated wind; excellent conditions taking into account where we were. After so many days in the narrow channels, the wide horizon, the big breaking waves and the high cliffs, took us into a dramatic atmosphere. As planned, we paddled to an island a few kilometers away from the coast, hoping to find a good spot to land. After passing with caution an area of breaking waves, we landed in the most remote area we had ever been before. We decided to explore the island walking along the coastline. For hours, we walked on its beaches among whale’s vertebras, sea lions and colonies of penguins who dived into the water, surfing waves with indifferent mood. Once on the opposite side of the island, we found, surprisingly far from the sea line, the remains of a sailing yacht, the skeleton of a Sei whale (Balaenoptera borealis) and few days later another individual of the same species deceased not long ago. During the last length in the open ocean the hugest waves we saw on the whole trip caught us. We were moving forward fast with the strong winds and currents. There was no way to get out from those waves or to go in a different direction. We could not get close to the shore, because the fog and the breaking waves were really dangerous. Our only choice was to keep holding the paddle, long and exhausting, in waves 5m high. Finally, after 20 Km and a lot of obstacles, we made it through a channel at Campana Island and the small Breaksea Island.
THE LOST COAST
Seven days through a labyrinth of channels were between Tortel and us. The long way back to the civilization became a promising countdown to finish our boring diet: a mixture of oats, granola and powdered milk for breakfast and lunch and boiled pasta for dinner. Our daily life comforts would be back soon, but what we lived on these 21 days would stay in our memories forever. And it’s all about this, isn’t it?

An exciting and inspirational modern shaped touring- and seakayak. The SKEGYAK HTP is British-shaped with a heavy rocker, perfect for surfing in waves. It tracks well with the help of the Skeg for tracking in all wind directions, but is very maneuverable when drawn up making it incredible fun to paddle; also suitable for longer tours with luggage. It’s elegant, stretched lines make it an ideal boat for travelling. Safe forward gliding, fast changes in direction using the edges of the boat, everything can be done in a safe and precise manner. Flat angles on the lateral areas make the boat very manageable and provide optimum stability.

If you ask me why kayak touring is such an amazing recreation, I cannot answer this question in just a few words. You come to experience that much when you’re on the way with your touring kayak. For me it’s a triad out of different waters, camping and active recovery in nature. The Märkisch Circuit is prime example for this.
The best way to paddle the Märkisch Circuit is counterclockwise. By doing so, you spend less time paddling against the stream. Normally the stream isn’t too strong, but it’s still more comfortable to drift. During this trip along the old course of the Spree, the Dahme, the channel of the Dahme and through the lakes between Spreewald and Berlin, you have enough time to drift and enjoy the nature.

As the Märkisch Circuit is a round trip, you can start it nearly anywhere along the route. There are also several bivouac places and campsites, sometimes more, sometimes less. The route frequently goes past cities and villages, where you can stock up with food. But most of the time you’re undisturbed and meet only few men. Especially at the point where there is no watersports and activities or professional shipping, it is very peaceful and you have all the time in the world to enjoy the nature. This pertains to 60 to 70 percent of the trip, which you can even expand when you add the Spreewald to your tour – which is definitely worth it, because the Spreewald is worth visiting. This tour is very attractive because of its variety. In the evening we coast over glassy lakes or pass by gorgeous pinewoods. Along the channel of the Dahme the nature is growing wild and we meet ring snakes, see beaver prints and huge fish jump out of the water in front of our kayaks. We often take the time to cool down in the fresh water and swim a few meters, before we continue our way. We spend every evening at a very nice campsite, sitting at the campfire until we tire and contented lie down in our tent. In most cases we can brew coffee on the embers the next morning, to wake up. And even the adventure isn’t missing. Because some floodgates and boat carts for relocation make us chuckle from time to time, because of their makeshift charm and function. But everything works well and we can enjoy every day to the fullest, while we paddle past the environment. In the end we cannot say which of the waters was the nicest one, because there were so many and each of them had their own particular charm. The unforgettable impressions we experienced during our trip stick in our memory.

We are paddling through virgin landscapes on a dreamlike stream. Time of day doesn’t matter, thanks to the long hours of daylight and everyday life fades away. We are in Norway. Four friends – three of us from Rosenheim, Germany and one Australian. We started our trip in Rosenheim. After 24 hours and 2200km driving, we arrived. And gosh, it is gorgeous! Our route through Norway is following the water-levels. There is a surplus of streams in Norway. Every rating and every kind of landscape. Whether it runs through deep gorges or in steep torrents running on plateaus in tail motion. Kayaking in Norway makes you feeling free. Freedom is felt – even when not paddling – caused by less population, breathtaking landscapes and the possibility to camp hardly everywhere.
At night we light a campfire to stay warm, while Markus is playing some tunes on his guitar. Most of the time we managed to escape the bad weather. The heavy rain made it difficult to dry our clothing, but filled the streams with more water. Easy come, easy go. While we are falling asleep pretty happy, feeling invincible by mastering challenges in the waters, we are looking forward to the challenges of the next day in our kayaks. Thats what makes kayaking so special.

The island of Prvic is located about 15 kilometres south of the Kornati archipelago and approximately 3 kilometres from the mainland. It is one of the islands of the Šibenik archipelago, which are closest to the mainland. On the southern point of the island a house with double bedrooms incl. kitchen, toilet and shower is at your disposal. The group looks after itself. Food can be bought on the island. A barbecue is at your disposal.
Our base is in Risanka, on Kornati main island, in the middle of the Kornati National Park. In the bay of Šibnate, we can stay in a cottage with 3- and 4-bed rooms. A kitchen, fridge, freshwater and sanitary fittings are in place. The group looks after itself, buying food in a supermarket on Sali island is possible before the departure. Alternatively, you can book half-board and buy only beverages on site.

In our Prijon kayak school in Bovec/Slovenia we look forward to every participant. We are joined by beginners, which we introduce to the equipment and the river (and of course teach them the basic skills of kayaking!) and advanced paddlers, aiming to extend their skills.
Safety is our top priority. We use our excellent training concept to teach you good technique and instruct you to become responsible paddlers, which are able to evaluate dangerous situations using your own skills. This material can only be used in blow-moulding and not in roto-moulding production, as used by other producers of kayaks. The molecule chains of HTP are approximately 10 times longer than those of rotated PE. This makes the boat hulls stiffer, lighter and less susceptible to abrasion. HTP-kayaks have clear advantages regarding form stability, abrasion and boat weight, compared to kayaks made of roto-moulded PE. HTP is very environmentally friendly. When it is recycled, there are no poisonous gases or residues; it is ground water neutral and free of heavy metals.
Care: HTP-boat shells are very sturdy and already possess a permanent protection against UV-rays. Therefore they need no treatment with varnishes, wax or other care materials.
PriLite For PriLite boats, the ABS-combination plates, sealed with UV-resistant Perspex, are pulled into the hot moulds, which have a temperature of approximately 80 degrees, in a computerized process, using heat and vacuum. Top and bottom are inseparably joined together by a double-sided U-profile. This profile additionally strengthens the sides of the kayak against impact. The fitting of deck mountings and interior fittings are done by hand, as on all Prijon boats. Advantages: PriLite boats are approx. 20% lighter than comparable kayaks made of HTP. At the same time there is a clear advantage regarding stability compared to GFK or Carbon/Aramide.
Repairs/Care: Superficial scratches can be polished off with a special paste, available in specialized shops. Larger repairs are made with Epoxy. The inside of the boat should not be permanently exposed to sun (store upside down!).

Carbon-Aramide These boats mainly consist of carbon and aramide fibres, combining the excellent qualities of carbon, which is very hard and gives the boat its stiffness with the qualities of aramide, which is very shock-proof and provides the necessary impact resistance of the kayak. The biggest advantage of this construction method is clearly the incredibly low weight.

GRP The fibre mats of our GRP-kayaks mainly consist of fibre glass, which is very stiff, but still reasonably priced. Kayaks made of GRP are comparable to the PriLite boats with regard to their weight and are around 20% lighter then HTP kayaks.

Armerlite Armerlite is a thermo-composite material, consisting of weaved glass and polypropylene-fibres. The layers are put exactly into the form and covered with a vacuum cover. During the warming the polypropylene melts around the fibreglass and gets compacted non-porously under vacuum. After the cooling, the stiff, durable and light canoe-hull is finished. The honeycomb bottom panel offers excellent stiffness and additional buoyancy.
