Keep Christ in this Christ - Mass! Christmas – The words Christmas is broken down into two other words – the word Christ and the word – mass – together they mean - a public celebration of the birth of Jesus, the Christ – the Messiah – the one who came to save us from our sins, but these days Christmas has become more of a season than a day. It has become a season for retailers to sell, sell and sell some more; leaving us to count their loss at the beginning of the following year. I’m not the Grinch that stole Christmas, but I’m at least trying to set the record straight, and remind us that it’s Jesus’ birthday and not ours. In light of that fact; why do we give gifts to each other? I have never gone to a birthday party where the guests give gifts to each other and not the birthday person, have you? On the other hand though – Christmas marks the time when God gave his best gift to us: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 – So giving is definitely in order; especially at this time of year, but let us not get carried away and drift from the real meaning of Christmas, as you have fun, exchange gifts and all the other fun stuff this Christmas, but instead take time to remember Jesus.
