LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

featuring

“If we can dream it, we can achieve it.” Who says dreams don’t come true? These are fearful words from under achievers, while the persistent, passionate, hard workers are living in their dream world. We tend to admire entertainers in the fashion and music industry, but forget to acknowledge what it actually entails to embark in their success. It takes trial and error, learning oneself and niche, and sometimes years of constructive criticism before perfecting your craft. When you have a passion for what you do, the reward may not always be monetary. Your reward, at times, can be simply becoming masterous as doors unlock for greater opportunities. Time management, persistence and self support is a key combination on this tough journey to making your dreams reality. We had the opportunity to sit down with celebrities and equally passionate contributors of the fashion and music industry, for some great interviews and advice. We were mutually inspired and gracious for each others support. As a generation we should embrace positivity. Let’s live the way we dream. We have put together an array of thoughts, interest and opinions in fashion and music, while continuing to unlock new doors. Make the best of Y.O.L.O

I automatically surrendered my life to Him. Each and every lyric of that song enable a conversation with God. given moment. “My life is not my own, to you I belong.” William McDowell has a signature stanza in between verses that open up doors for a strong connection. It feels like your own personal praise session. He allows you to open up your heart and let God in, no matter where your physical body actually stands.

Our generation has become more keen with the Gospel. Church is no longer just for the “old folks”. There are a vast majority of young people in the church, believing in the word and ministering towards the destination Heaven. In times of doubt and temptation, times when you just want to give up on your walk with Christ, let “Faith Through Music” occur with songs lyrics like “ I won’t go back. I can’t go back to the way it used to be before your presence came and changed me.” Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Nikes or High Heels? Which do you prefer? I get asked this question a lot and I’d honestly have to say both. I love to be laid-back with a pair of sneakers. I feel that it’s so LA, which I love, being that I’m from there. Right now I’ve been rocking a lot of Nike. Air Max and Free Runs are my favorite because they are so comfortable, however, I also like to keep it classy and sexy with a nice pair of heels. I love high heels because I can be versatile and dress them up or down, pairing them with sweat pants or denim shorts. It all depends on what type of mood I’m in. Right now my favorite designer brand is Giuseppe.... “A beautiful life does not just happen, it is built daily by prayer, humility and sacrifice. May that beautiful life be yours always.”

attended: It has definitely been a minute, but I’d say last year in New York for fashion week. It was my first time at fashion week and I absolutely loved it. I attended a few events but definitely want to attend many more this upcoming year! Looking forward to Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein and Jeremy Scott.

I wanted to keep it that way until one day I got my zipper tattoo on the back of my leg. It was a spur of the moment thing. It has no meaning. I don’t know why I got it, but I did (lol). I thought it was cool and looked dope. I have a big female dragon face on my left hand, which was also a spur of the moment thing. Sometimes I look at that tattoo and think to myself “I can’t believe you have this obnoxious tattoo on your hand.” But that’s life in my eyes, you doing things that make you happy. The significance of me getting a dragon is because I was born in 1988, which is the year of the dragon on the Chinese astrology calendar and I am part Chinese.

GREY YSL PUMPS... PCL 10

Your first high end fashion investment: When I was working at Nordstrom about 5 years ago, I purchased my first pair of grey YSL pumps. (With my employee discount lol) ”Go to” brand or store to shop: I would definitely say TopShop! I absolutely love this store and am so happy that they opened one in LA. I used to make sure I made a stop whenever I was in NY because it was my only chance to purchase in store. They have such a wide variety of styles to choose from. I know I can always find something when I shop there. I especially love their petite department because I am tiny. Everything there is super cute and affordable.

Fashion must haves: Boyfriend jeans are so comfortable and sexy! Especially with a pair of killer high heels. I know it may be a little left field but I’ve really been into workout clothes. Nike has some of the best sports bras, workout leggings, and jackets. They mix their workout attire with a bit of fashion, which actually pushes me to work out more.

Trends complementary to your style this season: I still love crop tops and two piece sets. I think it has become a little over trendy but I love it because it compliments and adds shape to the form of my body. Fashionable tattoos: I started off only getting scripture and quote tattoos. “Where there is love, there is life.” “The past is practice.” “An ounce of blood is worth more than a pound of friendship.”

Outlets you’ve recently modeled with: Crooks & Castles, Karmaloop, Annex Magazine, The Hundreds Magazine, Vibe Magazine, Viet Sun Magazine, Bleu Ribbon hair extension company. Your favorite city to shop:

WE ASKED

ANGELA YEE OF POWER 105.1’S “The Breakfast Club” about life in music.

What was the last music event you hosted? I recently hosted at SOB’s for an August Alsina performance. I was just excited that Def Jam asked me to participate because I’m a big fan of his. I remember seeing him perform early on in his career and it’s so great to see his progress since then. What songs are you listening to most at the moment? I love Juicy J! And YG’s album, Meek Mill, Fab’s mix tape, and Miguel. I listen to dancehall reggae music all the time, and of course I always enjoy listening to Wu Tang. When I’m cleaning the house I like listening to R&B but mostly classics like Al Green, Jackson 5, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Chic. Fun disco music that my parents used to listen to. It reminds me of growing up. When dating, are you into more of an R&B or rapper kind of guy? Rapper with more of an R&B edge. Maybe a rapper that would collab with R&B artists a lot. Nerds with edge!

STREAM LIVE FROM ANY CITY WITH THE

IHEARTRADIO APPLICATION.

What was your first job in music? My first job in music was as the assistant to the CEO for Wu Tang in 1997. It was a great learning experience because everyone was on different labels so I got to work with so many different people. Which artist did you have the most interesting interview with in 2014? I interviewed Boosie when he first came home and I thought it was exciting and monumental. It was a tremendous experience to have the first sit down with him and have it streamed online. I like when artists feel like they can loosen up, be themselves and have a real conversation.

Paige City Life had the opportunity to hold a vibes with the Reggae artist Mr. Vegas. We discussed everything from being inspired by Dennis Brown and Bob Marley, to what drives his success. How can I forget to mention his celebrity crushes on the beautiful Tessane Chin and unsurprisingly, Halle Berry. We can expect the artist to always have a clean sense of fashion and never one to follow regular trends.

Mr.Vegas t i s break ..! down

We all know how viral his hit single “Bruck it Dung” recently went and it’s still causing a buzz. Mr.Vegas is currently awaiting the release of his album Euphoria in July. His first single “Luv Song” features Reggae queen Lady Saw.

Vegas has numerous projects that he’s currently ochestrating. His most passionate protégé right now is Ms.Latty J, former contestant on Jamaica’s singing competition Rising Star. She is said to be a mix of Whitney Houston and Erica Badu, with a rude gal twist. Something else to keep your eye out for is “Bruck it Dung to Reality”, a reality show filmed in Jamaica depicting the Jamaican culture, lifestyle and what really goes on behind the scenes in the lives of Jamaican entertainers and socialites. Joining Vegas on his journey are 12 beautiful female dancers who will be eliminated on a weekly basis, while competing for a chance to tour with the artist. We appreciate the music, the entertainment, the efforts to showcase international talent. There is so much to anticipate from this Reggae veteran.

STYLE DAILY Style Inspirations: My style inspirations are moods and feelings. Most people are inspired by other people’s style but I get life from colors, moods, art, and places. I love to mix dressy and casual to create a perfect style balance. My upcoming online boutique #tastebyyou reflects that. Top 3 must have fashion items: 3 things I couldn’t live without are SHOES, LIPSTICK AND BAGS! Once you have these things correct everything else just falls into place.

@dreathis_dreathat Location: New York 4k to mix high fashion and trend.

How do you decide your daily looks? Surprisingly I’m not the biggest fan of jeans and sneakers. I tend to think that’s the easy way out. I think pushing those items to the back of your closet forces you to be creative. I pick my daily outfits based on the place I’m going and what function I’m attending. I make sure color is incorporated into every outfit and also at least one designer piece. I like

When the picture is worth 1,000 words and the outfit captivates effortlessly, who wouldn’t follow your daily fashion story. The real stylers and profilers, mix and match their high end and affordable looks. They hustle hard for their #hashtags. While they are dedicated to fashion beyond just social media, thousands of followers admire their style story.

@corrierudeboi Location: Chicago 8k+ Style Inspirations: My style inspiration comes from watching my mom. Growing up we didn’t have much yet it always amazed me as to how my mom was able to make a blah outft look like a million bucks just by tweaking and making changes with her hands. I grew up doing the same thing. Top 3 must have fashion items: My top 3 must have items, blazers, gingham shirts and Oxford shoe. How do you decide your daily looks? I hardly decide my looks I would lay in bed and my vision comes to me jus by looking at my closet looking at the different colors crashing together. And there my ideas and my outfit comes to life.

@kimpossiblewaterhouse Location: Connecticut 11k+

@natybaby Location: New Jersey 53k+

Style Inspirations: I love Olivia Palermo’s style and Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper Vintage. I also get a lot of inspiration from street style. Top 3 must have fashion items: Blazer, Moto Jacket and a pair of Black Pumps. How do you decide your daily looks? My daily looks are usually reflective of my mood and whatever it is that I have recently been inspired by. I try not to plan them out too much and just go with whatever feels right in the moment. was cool! Much more to accomplish, much more to do. After the video was over I was ready to go to the studio. It came on again. I dropped everything and watched it, but right after that I was back to work!

“A gentleman by the name of Ramarley Graham....” PCL: Give us 4 bars from your “FNWA” track that describe a “fly nigga with attitude.” ImJaeHall: That’s a tuff task (lol). That entire track was just a wave of emotion! It didn’t even make the EP. We shot an 8 thousand dollar video and didn’t even put it on the project. That was surrounding the whole Trayvon Martin situation and also a situation similar to Trayvon which happened up the block from me. A gentlemen by the same of Ramarley Graham was shot in his bathroom by the cops, in front of his sister for no reason. No guns were found on him, drugs, nothing. That situation was really just a reality check for me. Like, it’s happening in our back yard now. It touched home!

ImJaeHall: I’m personally inspired by everything! From Good Kid m.A.A.d City (Kendrick Lamar) to Rudimental’s Home album. No barriers, I love music... IMJAEHALL is painting a big picture in the art of music. With a distinctive grind and talent that is speedily paying off, this artist is rising quickly from the pavements of NYC. ImJaeHall‘s “NY Inspired” video recently hit MTV Jams and radio airwaves on Power 105.1. You can catch the entire City Sliq team throughout New York City regularly setting new trends in art and music. D o w n l o a d I m J a e H a l l ’s EP entitled “Summer’s Here” at CitySliq.com

PCL: With your “Summer’s Here” EP buzzing, what can we expect from ImJaeHall this Summer 2014? ImJaeHall: You can expect to see me! I’m focused on getting on every stage! Getting on every network (Revolt, BET), and really giving you the best independent visuals for music!

“I feel like good music videos are becoming a lost art.”

and the City Sliq, NY Inspired movement.

PCL: Tell us about the City Sliq/NY Inspired movement. ImJaeHall: City Sliq is only someone’s inner ambition to make it in a big city! That person who moves from a small town to LA to be an actor, is City Sliq. That college grad who graduates, then moves to New York for a better job with a higher pay rate is City Sliq. New York is for the ambitious. Any big city with opportunities is for the ambitious. The lazy people just take up space. The term inspired obviously comes from inspiration, but it’s a bit deeper then that. I treat my city (New York) like I’m a tourist. People come from all across the world to see the buildings that I see everyday. I don’t take that for granted. I’m truly inspired by everything my city has to offer. Everything! PCL 24

PCL: ImJaeHall’s “NY Inspired” video captured the fundamental parts of NYC. What was the inspiration behind the visual, and tell us some of the locations you chose to film? ImJaeHall: The inspiration for the visual really came from the people of New York. I set out to make an organic visual that captured the true essence of what truly inspires me and the world, about my city. I wanted someone who has never been to New York City to feel like they have, or for someone who has never been here to say, “that’s exactly how I pictured New York”. Not just show them project hallways and bridges. We filmed in every area of New York. We had about 10 hours of footage that we had to turn into 4 minutes.

I guess because they’re technically so easy to shoot now. Now that my EP is finished, I’m really focused on getting in front of the people. These social sites are cool, being on blogs is cool also, but I like to touch the people, meet new people and really have them see the passion first hand. See the art first hand! Expect me to give you the best independent visuals, the most creatives and expect to see me! I’m focused! PCL: Congrats on your “NY Inspired” video recently making its premiere on MTV Jams. What was that moment like for you as an artist on the come up? ImJaeHall: I literally jumped up and down in my house (lol). It was Mother’s Day. My mom and family saw it, so that was cool. My mother didn’t know I make music. She obviously knew that I rap, but she had no idea that I actually took it serious. I’ve hid it from my mother for so long, just so she’s doesn’t worry (lol). She wants me to do great things and she doesn’t see music as the way. I’m going to do that. But for her to see me on TV, that

PCL: With such a deep lyrical connection to your music on tracks like “Aaliyah”, tell us which usually comes first, the lyrics or the beat? ImJaeHall: It depends on what’s inspired first. If it’s the tempo and melody, the beat is probably first. We go in trying to make the beat that I have in my head. If I’m inspired by a concept or flow, I usually have the rhyme ready first. Then we go in trying to make a record that gives the verse and concept a home. It truly depends on the day and inspiration. PCL: What is an average day in music like for ImJaeHall? ImJaeHall: I’m usually playing music that isn’t played in the states. I might just be playing a drum and bass artist like Chase & Status or Rudimental, just to hear their sonics and how they are with their sounds. Then I might play a Lauren Hill record and go outside to see how the city feels that day (lol). It’s a weird process but I like to just have inspiration hit me. I don’t like to sit in the studio and force anything, unless I’m recording. When I record we book 12 hr blocks, so I like to go in there and know exactly what I’m doing. Most of time, I’m just listening to music and having conversations with my producers about what we’re trying to do. PCL: What type of movement are you looking to create with your music? ImJaeHall: I’m looking to create a movement of creatives! I’m trying to help inspire the creative culture of Hip Hop for at least the next 10 yrs. I’m trying to have every record feel like a breath of fresh air. Straight creative sh*t! PCL: Where can readers follow ImJaeHall? ImJaeHall: They can follow me

Fashion University Style Glossary

Educated Edge-

Being edgy means having spunk. Check out Miley Cyrus rocking this Simone, funky-spiked, leather jacket with a Maison Martin Margiela crop top, and Yves Saint Laurent "Paloma" sandals. The belly bearing top and spiked rocker jacket made this entire "edgy" getup work.

Preparatory Piece-

A preppy piece conveys a “smart" look. BeyoncĂŠ Knowles rocked this red and black plaid collared shirt in her "Flawless" video. She conveys prep, and added a sexy denim spin with these mini shorts.

Career Training -

Rihanna looked driven in this Balmain skirt suit for Balmain's Spring 14 campaign. With the right interview skills and this killer suit the job is yours. Dont forget your camisole.

PCL had the pleasure of hosting a photo shoot for Atlanta’s sweetheart, Toya Wright. The industry lady was pleasant and flawless, glowing in natural beauty. She was petite in height but had a sizable smile when greeted by our team. She admired the racks of clothing, tables full of accessories and artsy setting at Mark SQuared Studios. Toya browsed looks that complimented her conservative style and was willing to step out the box to show her spunky side, adding fierceness with colored lips and a pair of thigh high shoes from Garb Shoetique.

brands and music, all while being a sexy wife. Her number one priority is maintaining a close relationship with her daughter, Reginae Carter.

Business Owner

What are some of the many business ventures you are working on? I’ve been working! I’ve been doing stuff in my store (Garb Boutique) and getting ready to open another location. My daughter’s music career. We just shot her 1st video to her new single “Mind Going Crazy”. She’s also the Junior Brand Ambassador for the company HairFinity. We have a lot of things in the works.

I’m opening another boutique location in New Orleans. I am also planning on expanding in this area, between Baton Rouge and Houston. A lot of my customers come from Baton Rouge and Houston to shop with us. I’ve been looking at a few retail shops, but I want to buy this building in the middle of a busy area that’s about three exits away from the Baton Rouge mall. Also Garb Shoetique in Atlanta, it carries shoes and accessories only. I just try to be smart with it. Atlanta has a lot of boutiques so I was like, “I’ll keep the clothing in the New Orleans and different cities that don’t have as many boutiques.” It works in N.O. because it is a tourist city. Garb is almost going on it’s 5th year and doing extremely well. What inspired you to do the boutique? What inspired me to do the boutique is how much I shop. I was a crazy shopaholic. I was always in a boutique. I love shopping. I love clothes. It doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive things. I believe anything can work. It’s all in how you put it together. It could be from the cheapest store, to the most expensive store. You make the style, its not about how much it costs. I’ve been like that since I was younger. I would even make something and sew it together. Sometimes I’ll take a top and a skirt and sew the top on it to make it look like a dress. I enjoy fashion. What types of inventory do you have? It’s not the same stuff that everybody else has. Alot of the IG boutiques have the same stuff so I try to touch a different market.

PCL 35

Any other additions to Garb moving forward? I added a swimsuit collection to my store. It’s really dope. It’s almost done. I can’t wait to post it. I’m itching. I don’t want to post it because it’s not ready. I learned my lesson from that. They eat you up. I do one piece swimsuits for people like me that don’t like two pieces. The hairline is going really really well. It’s been a year now. Its called Toya Wright Hair Collection. I have some pieces in now from www.Toyawrighthair.com. I have a lipstick line, which is an extension of my boutique. It’s called Glamore by Antonia. For the love of glam. It’s a lip gloss line with different colors that I love. I stepped out of the box but not too much. I’m also still writing my 2nd book. My daughter is an author as well. She has a book called Paparazzi Princess. I’ve been busy.

Tell us about your relationship with your daughter Reginae: When it comes to being a mom I’m a totally different person. I ta ke m o th er h o o d v er y s er i o u s ly. I h av e a gr e a t relationship with my daughter and I believe in building a level of communication with your kids, not be a friend, but have a relationship where you’re able to talk about any and everything. That’s exactly what me and my daughter have. She’s my world. I love that kid. She’s a good girl. Very smart, very wise beyond her years. It’s fun raising a daughter. She’s like my mini me. She’s a whole lot different than I was. The things that I was into at her age, she’s not thinking about. She just likes to have fun with her friends as long as she has her cell phone. I want more kids though. I want a boy.

Fashion Lover

Tell us 3 words to describe your style: Three words to describe my style (thinking). Classy. I believe in keeping it classy at all times. Conservative. I’m really not a shorts girl but if I can pull it off without looking crazy, I’ll do it. If I have the right heels to give me some height, that’s cool but I try to stay away from the shorts. I’m not really on the edgy side. I love dresses, Maxis. I love fitted dresses. I don’t believe in showing this and that at the same time. You can be sexy and classy at the same time. That’s something I teach my daughter also. I don’t like too much showing. I like to keep it safe. I mean I love the edgy styles. Your style has to fit your personality. I have my turn up moments but for the most part I’m chill and calm. I’m a girly girl so that’s how I dress. If I was edgy I would cut my hair all off and put some piercings in, but that’s not me. I love to see it on other people. Rihanna and other people are able to pull it off. Who are some of your favorite designers? I love Giuseppe. I love Chanel! My favorite. I like Valentino. Bags from Balenciaga, Celine. My favorite bag is Chanel though, all of them. What is your favorite place to shop in NYC? I love the Soho area. Who are some of your favorites in music? I’m a huge Beyoncé fan. I love Beyoncé, love Jay Z. I like old school music. I also like to listen to pop. My husband is into different types of music. We listen to world music. As far as R&B, Tamar Braxton. Tamar, Lil Wayne, and yeah Jay Z. I miss the old music the 90’s music. That’s my type of music. I can’t get with this new school.

Tell us about Toya as Mrs. Wright: My husband and I have a great relationship. Very fun. I believe in keeping it very spicy and fun. You must date. We’ve been married for almost 3 years, been dating for 6 years and we still date while we’re married. We try to keep it hot and fun. We travel a lot and we’re good friends. That’s like my best friend.

Is your husband into fitness the way that you are? Yes. I workout with my trainer Derrick. He’s also like a nutritionist. Me, my husband, and my daughter are trying to eat and live much healthier. Do you visit Stone Mountain? Yes all the time, I love it. Me, Kandi, Rasheeda and our husbands go all the time. Very good for your legs and butt.

CHAYCE CRUSHH Photo by: Focuz Photoz.

With so many aspiring artists in the music industry, it is becoming harder to recognize good talent. It is seldom that a rapper will grasp your attention vocally and lyrically in 2014. Chayce Crushh represents the home of hip hop and wears the reputation well. Over 50 recorded songs to choose from for his upcoming mixtape Hearts Turn Cold, and the young talented rapper continues to challenge himself in the studio while songwriting daily. Who are some artists you are looking to work with? I look forward to working with artists like Fabolous, Meek Mill, Chinx, Tank, August Alsina, and YG. There are more but this is a start. What is the last commercial beat you freestyled to? The last one was probably the OG Bobby Johnson beat. I’ve been working on some originals, but I may still fool with some more commercial beats. What will be the name of your first big project be? and when can we expect it? My project is going to be called Hearts Turn Cold. It should be ready some time in July. Not exactly sure of the day. Why is Chayce Crushh destined to succeed? This is all I know. The positive at least. I know what I want and I’m going for it. Who’s gonna tell me no? The fact that I’m further than where I thought I’ld be by now is humbling, but it’s motivating too. Success is all I see.

Duo BOUTIQUE

CHASTIDEE DAVIS has spent more than a decade taking part in the PR world of fashion and entertainment. Since relocating from the Bronx, NY to Los Angeles, CA, her aspirations have reached to new summits. In 2012 she launched a website for her online shop, Duo Boutique| Shop Duo. Only two years later the business is now trending in both cities, while she remains focused on her impressive career in PR. Since attending Duo’s first Sip & Shop event in NYC, our editors were excited to see what to expect from the outlet in 2014. PCL had the chance to hook up with Duo founder and public relations representative, Chastidee Davis, to see just that. We were impressed by what she plans to launch later this year.

2014 PLANS FOR DUO BOUTIQUE I launched Duo’s website in February of 2012. The past two years have been great, but this year I’m working to push myself out of my comfort zone to bring Duo to new

INSPIRATION FOR DUO... My inspiration for launching Shop Duo’s first Sip & Shop was to connect with my customers directly. Truthfully, with my current schedule as a publicist, it can be difficult to update Duo’s website frequently. Photo shoots and site maintenance can be time consuming. Since I’m a one-woman show at the moment, I decided to alter Duo’s business model a bit. Each year, I will be hosting a series of pop-up shops in several fashion forward cities to enhance sales and directly connect with Duo’s consumers. I also want to give other brands a platform to expose their goods. It’s an excellent way to promote our products. Overall, I was extremely happy with the event. We had an amazing turn out and I’m already preparing the next event set to be in Los Angeles.

LIFE IN PUBLIC RELATIONS: Aside from Duo, I work as a Public Relations Consultant full-time. My main focus is Lifestyle and Entertainment PR but I have experience in Hospitality and Business, as well. Living in Los Angeles, I get the opportunity to work alongside many different personalities. I love consulting because I have complete control over who I work with. Although I am the liaison of communication between my clients and the media, each client I add to my roster is an extension of my personal brand. Therefore, our ideals have to coincide. I believe some people forget, when you work as a consultant, you yourself are your own business. So, I’m very particular with who I decide to work and associate with. I pride myself in being candid with my associates and potential clientele.

My client and I made a last minute decision to attend one event in particular and “crashed” the red carpet. Teyana Taylor: rocking this royal blue “Harlem Knight” Ka’oir matte lipstick. I love this picture because she is giving you beautiful lips, eyes and so much sexiness at the same time. Kelly Rowland: giving us Spring and Summer. I love this look because of the bright colors. Kelly matched her tangerine dress with an engraved black liner, and similar color lips. This entire look werks! Janelle Monae: Every women should have a shade of red in their purse. Janelle is giving us simple, yet gorgeous and elegant all at the same time. You are drawn directly to her lips, with one of her signature lip colors. She is looking nothing less then flawless.

“Wear the makeup, don’t let it wear you.” What inspires your tutorials? I can’t say that I have inspirations. I do tutorials to show women how to apply the right amount of make up, to get a complete gorgeous look. Less is always more when it comes to make up. I have always said “ No matter how much makeup you apply, if your attitude sucks, there’s not enough makeup to make you beautiful!” No matter how much or how little makeup you put on, always remember to “wear the makeup, don’t let it wear you.” Which brands of make up do you recommend and why? 1. With us stepping into Spring and Summer I would recommend Maybelline’s ‘Fit Me’ foundation because it is light on the face, easy on and easy off and most importantly it is inexpensive. 2. As for lip and eyewear I would recommend Portia Allure Cosmetics. All of her products are beautiful, bold, and easy on and off as well. It doesn’t smudge. I think every girl should own a lipstick or lip gloss from Portia. You can find her cosmetics at www.Portia-Allure.com. 3. I’m in love with Queen Latifah’s CoverGirl “Queen”Collection. It is made strictly for African American women! It is light on the face and totally affordable. How do you determine your daily make-up blends? I don’t, lol. I’m very spontaneous when it comes down to makeup. My ideas may change from when I moisturize my face, until I pickup a eye shadow palette. PCL 44

FASHION SPIN “Breath in fashion, exhale style” Creative director of Embellish Style, Dee, discusses personal style, favorite items and 2014 Grammy red carpet looks. Check her out at @broadwayd_embellishstyle

Q. Tell us 5 fun facts about Dee!

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

I can survive on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day. I LIVE for it. I’m addicted to ID TV. If I was not into fashion I would of became a Forensic Detective. I have a fraternal twin. We are four minutes apart. I am petrified of mice and rats ( I will seriously faint or cry). I am a certified bartender however, I have never really actually worked in a bar. (Laughs)

Q. What does fashion mean to you, as opposed to style?

A. Fashion to me is such a broad term.

To me, fashion is what you buy or what's "in" at the moment, the latest trend. However, style represents your individuality and your personal relationship with fashion. You can walk into a room with everybody wearing black and call that fashion. If you put your own twist and flare to it, that is however considered style . My favorite all time quote is "Breath in fashion , exhale style" and it's something I live by. Fashion is in the clothes. Style is definitely in the wearer.
