Technologies: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Photoshop: Photoshop is the main software that I have used to create my magazine during this process. After having never been on the programme before, I feel I have learnt a lot. For example, I have learnt how to airbrush out blemishes or any imperfections that were noticeable in all of the images. I have also learnt how to clone parts of my image to recreate them in another part. The magnetic lasso tool has come into use to help me create spacing for text and has allowed me to use drop caps, gutters and columns around images on my double page spread. Without this tool, conforming to typical magazine conventions would be hard to do. Text tools have been an important part in all of the pages I have created. This section has allowed me to adjust the size and spacing of the text to how I like. A disadvantage about this programme is that I was unable to use the software at home due to it only ebing installed on the computers at college.
Survey Monkey: This is another programme that I have used for the first time during this process. This has helped me during the research part of the task to collect data for analysis. An advantage of this programmes is that its quick and easy to use when collecting results. That desired questions and relevant data can be easily added to the site in order for the respondents to answer quickly. There are also pre written questions which can be chosen when you are building your survey to make it a quicker and easier process. However, the programme could be unreliable due to it being on the internet which may not be available to everyone, which could provide less valid results.
Prezi: This is an online programme that allows you to create dynamic and original moving presentations. It provides a more interesting way of displaying information compared to programmes such as PowerPoint. Throughout this process, my skills using Prezi have advanced since I already had used it before. Prezi is easy to use and is easy to navigate because of the scroll type viewing mode and the amount of options given to create what you would like. A disadvantage with Prezi would be that it can be unreliable because its only available online and internet access isn’t always available.
