CONtext
Barraque Street The downtown area of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was once a thriving cultural hub. However, it has become increasingly abandoned over the past 30 years. The goal of this group project was to develop a proposal for the revitalization of the five buildings on Barraque Street. The proposal included three goals: to provide community outreach programs, restore the arts and entertainment district, and create opportunites for community involvement. Design challenges with budget and community revival were addressed through the reuse of existing material and activation of spaces to centralize movement or collaboration.

THE ARTIFACT hotel The Artifact is a boutique hotel located in Rogers, Arkansas. The building itself has served many purposes throughout the town’s history. The building’s deep past inspired the Urban Archaeology design concept: thinking of each floor as a different layer. The goal was to use layers of different materiality, lighting, architectural elements, and geographic patterns to create a sense of beauty and discovery.
