Student of the Week This week’s Student of the Week is Leah Garrett. Garrett is a senior at Memorial High School. She was nominated by, reading teacher, D’Mari Domingo. “Leah has been such a great student since the very beginning,” said Domingo. “Even with experiencing many technical issues, almost on a daily basis, Leah still goes the extra mile to not only communicate, but to complete her assignments.” Leah said she is not involved in any extracurricular activities at school, but Domingo says she gives her best in the classroom. “She doesn't make excuses, and I think we can all model her will to achieve excellence in all that she does" state Domingo. A quote Leah lives by is, “don’t give up”. She said the quote means something personal to her. “I used to give up because of how I would view situations, but things have changed. She admits the title of Student of the Week is something that took her by surprise. “It feels weird to be named Student of the Week,” she said. “This is all new to me, but it is a good weird. After high school, Leah hasn’t quite decided exactly what her plans will be, but she said she knows she wants to work and go to college.
