The Key Chain special edition:

Fall Rally The beginning of a great year

Lighting the Torch of Service:

Fall Rally HEY KEY CLUB HOW DO WE FEEL? WE FFEL GOOD, OH! WE FEEL SO GOOD, OH! WHY? BECAUSE OF FALL RALLY! THE DISTRICT WIDE EVENT HAS GOT KEY CLUBBERS FROM ALL OVER READY FOR THE NEW SERIVCE YEAR!

On Sunday October 7th, over 3,000 Key Clubbers attended the annual Fall Rally event that was hosted at Six Flags: Great Adventure. The weather was somber with dark clouds and occasional drizzles. The weather channel had announced that there would be an 80% chance of rain and possible thunderstorm but nothing could douse the flaming passion of the New Jersey District Key Club! The rally started with a meeting of all the Key Clubs throughout the district at the and each lieutenant governor and district board member introduced themselves. Afterwards, the board announced the fundraising goal for the year. Following, there was a brief ice breaker where the lieutenant governors helped “warm things up” by leading some exercises. Finally, the Key Clubbed engaged in the contest to see what club has the most spirit by cheering on their lieutenant governor after each name is called. Egg Harbor Township put up an exceptionally good fight but in the end were out cheered by another division. The closing ceremony ended and Key Clubbers poured into the park to go on the rides!

If you haven’t already, watch the Fall Rally 2012 promotional video featuring District Governor Nicole Ventrone, District Secretary Celina Baquiran, District Treasurer Joseph Toumanios, District Editor Zachariah DeGiulio, and District Webmaster Lucas Dos . DESPITE THE CHILLY WEATHER AND THE DRIZZLE, FALL RALLY ENDED UP GREAT. THE WEATHER ENDED UP BEING BENEFICIAL—NO LINES, NO SCORCING SUN, NO LONG LINES FOR DRINKS. RAIN DIDN’T RUIN OUR PARADE!

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL KEY CLUB BROUGHT THE MOST KEY CLUBBERS IN DIVISION 1B AND ALSO HAD ONE OF THE HIGHEST ATTENDENCES OF ALL CLUBS IN THE JERSEY DISTRICT. (TOTAL: 101).

THE WHOLE DISTRICT BOARD ATTENDED THE ANNUAL FALL RALLY EVENT . THE BOARD INCLUDES 23 LIEUTENANT GOVERNORS AND THE 5 DISTRICT OFFICERS. THE BOARD MEMBER IS DRESSED FOR THE OLYMPIC THEMED EVENT.

During Fall Rally, the district fundraising goal for the year was announced again. Each district of Key Club International announces a goal annually and for the past couple of years, New Jersey has surpassed the goal significantly. In fact, the past service year, New Jersey surpassed all other Key Club districts internationally. This year, New Jersey District choose the symbolic amount of :

$100,602.23

The goal is set high but with the whole New Jersey District cooperating as a whole, there is nothing that the New jersey District can’t accomplish! Below is an explanation of what exactly each number represents to Key Club and to the ELIMINATE Project:

100 60 For the 100 million mothers who need vaccinations. $1.80 can save a mother and her infant from MNT (Maternal Neonatal Tetanus).

For the 60,000 infants who die each year form MNT. One child dies every 9 minutes from this disease even though the disease is completely avoidable.

2 For the two organizations who’ve teamed up for this cause: Kiwanis and UNICEF. The combination of the two make up the ELIMINATE Project which focuses on MNT.

23 For the 23 divisions of the New Jersey District working together towards one common goal—to rid MNT form the Earth. Many countries have already succeeded.

SINCE KEY CLUB IS AN INTERNATIONAL CLUB—MEMBERS FORM ALL OVER ATTEND THE ANNUAL EVENT. ATTENDEES MEET WITH FRIENDS THAT LIVE FAR AWAY OR EVEN MAKE NEW FRIENDS FROM OTHER PARTS OF NEW JERSEY.

HEY KEY CLUB. WHY DID YOU GO TO FALL RALLY? REGARDLESS OF THE REASON WHY KEY CLUBBERS DECIDED TO ATTEND FALL RALLY, EVERYONE HAD A BLAST. WHETHER IT WAS THE RIDES OR NEW FRIENDSHIPS THAT DEVELOPED—FALL RALLY 2012 IS A DAY TO REMEMBER.

A poll was take via Facebook asking why most of the Key Clubbers attended Fall Rally. Two years ago, my response would be amusement park rides and hanging out with my friends but now, I would pick divisional bonding. At first I thought Fall Rally was just for fun but then I realized that it’s more than that—it’s to bring together a bunch of teenagers who share the same passion—to help their home school and community!

One of the main purposes of Fall Rally is to get Key Clubbers excited about the service year and to pump enthusiasm and pride into Key Clubbers.
