the fashion list!

ready, set, style! th is week t . edit ' s sub- editor minahil q asim wears fo ur sty lis h cross s titch o u tfits and makes them her very own. This printed poncho was super fun and very me! Maryam gave me a very bohemian look with a braided hairband, dark berry lips and a winged eye liner. I threw on a pair of ripped jeans, statement necklace and Chiara Espadrilles to add a quirky vibe to the outfit!

This shirt has a very comfortable, daytime vibe to it. I loved the striking colours and vibrant print. Maryam kept my makeup minimal and loosely pinned my hair to one side. I added fun flats to complete my casual summer look.

This black organza cape was my absolute favourite so I went all out. Loose, side swept hair, a fun belt and a pop of pink lipstick finished the glamorous look I was going for.

This white and cream outfit is extremely feminine and pretty. I paired it with a beautiful kalamkaar shawl, smokey eye makeup and red lips to compliment this intricately worked ensemble. I love how Maryam tied up my hair into a messy updo!

strictly islamabad find out what's hot and happening in the capital city.

the nutella spot This handsome, little bar is just a few months old and is always completely swamped (for all the right reasons!). Rimmel, a Bahria University graduate with a flair for the culinary arts has selfcrafted (after plenty of trials and testing sessions) the masterpieces that have made it to the final menu. Our favourites include the Nutella Pizza, Nutella Cheesecake, Nutella Gooey Brownie and the Nutella Lava Cake. The good news is that after the overwhelming response, The Nutella Spot will be opening doors in Centaurus and Safa Gold Mall’s food courts to cater to their exponentially growing Nutella Crazy audience. In our opinion this is a phenomena that may soon take over the country.

laila ali khan She’s been only a year in the fashion industry and has taken the scene by storm. Working with the big boys, the likes of Bareeze, Mina Hasan, Elan and Suffuse By Sana Yasir, Laila has got a bright future ahead of her. Hailing from Islamabad and representing the country's biggest brand, this beauty is definitely one to look out for.

sonya lodi After her successful sprees in the foreign markets (US, Denmark and Saudi Arabia), Sonya has turned her attention to Pakistan and is starting with her hometown. Her first collection flew off the racks and her recent luxury pret line with intricately created capes is catching up as a strong trend for the upcoming season You can catch her collections at Lounge 842 in Bahria Town!

red bull track took over the capital! After a successful battle of the DJ's from Lahore, Red Bull Track Club hosted a fun night full of bass and beats. We hope to attend many more events like this one!

rfak live in concert The legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will be performing live on the 26th of Feb for the Millenial Olympiad 2016 at Khiva Lawns. A little birdie told us the tickets are flying out and the preps are on turbo mode as audiences line up to get an experience of the soulful music that is iconic to Rahat. It’s going to be a great, jam-packed evening by the looks of it. 42

60 second intl. film festival

zumba party This event will have audiences witness the magic of film-making with its 60 second film entry format. The submissions came from across 40 countries for this film gala, organised by SIFF in collaboration with Geo News, Samaa Tv and Jang Media Group. The festival was packed with film-making activities for everyone. There’s screenings and workshops for kids, a panel discussion on social change and a digital security open house with a Grand Screening to end the Festival. The entries and turnout show Islamabad’s creative vein is throbbing and full of raw, original talent. Here’s hoping to see more of such creative initiatives around ...

Winter’s leaving and it’s leaving behind that winter bulge for a lot of us but the Zumba Party that kicks off on the first day of March is stepping in to the rescue. With a beautiful vantage point that gives you a bird’s view of the Islamabad scene, Fitdiction’s Studio in F-8 is just so right to begin the spring body shape up you’ve been wanting to do. Prep up to flaunt those designer lawns in your perfect spring lean bod. It’s possible, just start! #PaperazziGetsFit

elements music festivals Electro Music hits Islamabad as the entourage of Ahmad Taz, Faisal Baig, Techno Malangs and Fuzzy Nocturnal strut their stuff on stage this February on the 27th. The concert tour seems to promise not to end before the middle of the night. They’re going to hit Islamabad like a storm and we don’t possibly know how you could miss this.

king food festival It’s a food frenzy in the Capital’s favorite F-9 Park where Islooites are flocking to treat their taste buds to a diverse range of yummies offered by the Capital’s best. The line-up has favorites like the Naan Stop, Manolo Gelato, The Nutella Bar and Siam. It’s definitely a prespring, happy place for foodies. The evening ended with a concert that was packed!

the little eatery A little, classy spot that is set to open its doors this 18th promises to give you the perfect space for long due catch ups and hearty, meaningful conversations over scrumptiously prepared food. The interior is adorned with Old Hollywood frames in B&W, french windows and brick walls. This cosy little eatery nestled in F-7 may soon become the capital’s favorites and who knows… The Little Eatery might have to become not so little very soon.

hermaine’s salon This stunning little salon opened shop in E-11 and it's brides have become the talk of the town. The team’s understanding of feminine beauty and their capability to bring out the best of their client’s features on their special day have helped them grow to be among the most popular in the city. Their brides have a visible glow that speaks of Hermaine’s touch. The salon team is friendly and oh-so-pro at making you feel special! 2015

the power of carbon BY FATIMA KHAN

Made with a blend of aloe vera, tea tree oil, and coconut oil, Aura's Activated Charcoal Bar purifies clogged pores, fights acne and lightens scars, while keeping the skin hydrated and soft.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL SEEMS LIKE AN UNLIKELY INGREDIENT FOR SKIN CARE – BUT IT REALLY WORKS! FIND OUT WHY THIS GRITTY BLACK ELEMENT HAS TAKEN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY BY STORM AND PREPARE TO FALL IN LOVE!

First things first What is activated charcoal? Activated charcoal is essentially a combination of regular charcoal and oxygen. This purified form of charcoal chemically binds other substances to its surface and can absorb thousands of times its own weight. This ability to pull out toxins and impurities has made activated charcoal a skin care favorite in no time. • TREATS ACNE + CONTROLS OIL When your skin is continuously exposed to pollutants during the day, it falls prey to stubborn bacteria and clogged pores. This can lead to acne, dark spots and a very oily T zone. Activated charcoal works like a magnet to dig up the dirt, clear out the pores and control the excess oil, leaving the skin squeaky clean and acne-free. • DEEPLY CLEANSES + MINIMIZES PORES Ever made yourself an at-home activated charcoal face mask? You really should! An activated charcoal face mask will warm up your skin, allowing the charcoal to easily pull out grime, dirt and even black heads. It will also reduce the appearance of pores and help firm your skin. DIY Face

Mask: 2 capsules of activated charcoal + 1 tbsp coconut oil. Make a paste and put it on that beautiful face! Before you rinse, gently massage your face and let the tiny black granules wash off dead skin for a smoother, glowing complexion. • SOOTHES SKIN IRRITATIONS Applying activated charcoal to the skin not only removes impurities from the skin's surface, but also extracts toxins from beneath the skin. These antibacterial properties of charcoal help alleviate skin infections and rashes while preventing further skin irritations. • WHITENS TEETH This is the most popular usage of activated charcoal these days and for good reason! The porous nature of charcoal gently sucks stain-causing bacteria off the teeth and also fights the built up of plaque. Add a pinch of activated charcoal powder to a wet toothbrush and apply it on your teeth. Leave it on for 5 minutes and wash it off. Say hello to your pearly whites!

Ever since I moved Doha, I’ve had to adopt a more smart but casual chic style as I juggle between university and other things. I survive in a pair of jeans and usually wear it with a top or a t-shirt. But because the weather here is usually warm, I pair it with loafers or strappy sandals. In the winter it becomes pretty chilly and I can’t survive without a oversized coat. I usually have my favourite perfume, Poison Girl by Dior on, and a lip colour to match my mood . The only challenge is that it indoor it’s freezing so I am constantly juggling outfits.

Since I moved to Doha, I have been grappled by the Arab obsession of karak, which is just our normal tea with a ton of cardamom and flavor. C&K, which has even opened up in Knightsbridge, London serves the best karak. It is ideal after a long day at school or practically at anytime. It is literally a small sit-down place (and takeaway) at Katara Beach and the karak with their cheese rolled chapati is my weakness.

Villagio Mall This has to be one of my favourite malls in the city, and it is modeled to look like parts of Italy. The Via Domo Boulevard is a shopper’s paradise, as there is literally everything from Prada to Tom Ford, and for more retail outlets I just stroll into Zara and come out feeling pretty guilty. A weekly trip is necessary not only for the shopping but the best macaroons, cheese platters, croissants and steaks. 50

Hakkasann The food scene in Doha is pretty fancy and happening. My favourite has to be Hakkasan, which is at the St Regis, and serves the most scrumptious Cantonese cuisine. The ambience is very lively and has a lot of artsy décor too. My all time obsession is the succulent Shanghai fried lamb tenderloin, followed by the lemon pot, which is like a meringue with crumble and mascarpone ice-cream and is to die for.
