The Tiwana Family Portrait

The Royal Heritage Sehra Bandi is a traditional wedding ritual where the groom departs on a decorated mare with his barat singing and dancing. The Tiwanas paid homage to this long age ritual by hosting a lavish sehra bandi for groom, Ali Tiwana in their ancestral village, Muzafarabad. The day was full of laughter, celebration and reminiscent of their magnificent past!

How and when did you start your clothing line? Considering the ongoing festivities around me, I designed an outfit for the very first time for myself for a wedding and got a lot of appreciation, from that point I decided that I wanted to be a fashion designer. Furthermore, I earned a degree from Paris American Academy in Fashion Designing. Eventually with the support of my husband and family I was able to make a mark in the fashion industry, that is how I established my brand.

|ABOUT ME

When did you first realize that you want to pursue your career as a fashion designer? I always loved dressing up and would go shop with my mom for weddings. It was my dream to have a line of my own, with my own work, creativity and designs. Which is your favourite piece from your collections and why? My favorite piece is from the Je Suis Belle Collection – an ox blood lehnga with off shoulder silver shirt. It is a very elegant, modern piece with a blend of rich fabrics including velvet and tissue, It is very special to me as I put in a lot of hard work in the details and embellishments myself.

reema ahsan REEMA AHSAN TALKS TO US ABOUT HER JOURNEY & FABULOUS CLOTHING LINE.

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2018

What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your own line? The point at which I entered the fashion industry was when it had already progressed a lot with lots of fashion giants in the market. The only thing I feared when stepping into this industry was if I’ll be able to make my mark here. Where do you get inspiration from? I get my inspiration mostly from travelling and the places I visit– I love to travel around the world and explore. The way

people dress up in different parts of the world really inspires me, I try incorporating them into my designs. I also take inspiration from my favorite international designers such as Valentino and Zuhair Murad ; it is so refined and up-to-date and very awe-inspiring. What is the favourite & worst part about being a fashion designer? Favourite part would be when I design something new and see my clients wearing them with perfection. The worst part about it is the stress behind all the designing process! How do you want women to feel when they're wearing your clothes? I want women to feel confident when they wear my designs. I want them to feel a level of comfort that makes them stand out. Any piece of advice you would give to an aspiring fashion designer? My advice is to follow what you believe in and never give up. There will be days when you feel that you have failed but that is part of the entire process and you learn from those failures to prosper. So keep striving for more, research and look at global trends; learn from them! Lastly, word as hard as you can. Our readers would like to know a little about the brains behind this fabulous clothing line? I started off this brand with the support of my family, my major support being by mother and husband. He supported me in setting up everything while my mother with her great fashion sense was the one who actually directed me throughout. I try implementing all my knowledge, learning and ideas together to come up with something that encapsulates the fusion of east and west. Do you plan on opening up a store in another city? I do plan on doing that, but not any time soon. For now I want to focus on the new lines I introduce and work from my Lahore studio only. Lastly, where do you see Reema Ahsan in another 5 years? I see it growing more! I want to expand and experiment with more lines of fashion such as semi-formals, pret and something more casual for daily wear for the working women. In the near future I see it expanding into a few more cities beyond Lahore. 2018
