How did botanical wonders come to life? Our family in general has always been very keen about making healthy life choices. Every vacation we would bring cartons of pure foods and skin care. After I graduated and moved back to Pakistan, I honestly could not find 100% pure almond oil, that’s when I realized how important it is to have a brand in Pakistan on which you can completely trust. Last year my brother graduated and moved back; then when we had no source to get our daily stock of natural goods so we decided to take this initiative.
|ABOUT ME
Tell us more about your famous herbal beauty and skincare products? The ideology behind botanical wonders is to provide our customers with natural skin care and wellness goodies. All our products are made with a lot of research, and we can proudly say our entire product range is 100% chemical free, making it super friendly for our health and environment. People don’t realize how dangerous using certain chemicals for long term can be on our health over all.

What makes your herbal products stand out, how are they different from the rest? All our products are made in house, and we make sure all the ingredients we use are of the highest-grade possible as when you source your products a tinge of doubt comes in. We even have our very own cold press machine for the oils. We give a lot of attention to our products. Your miracle hair growth oil is the talk of the town. How do you create such miraculous oils? Our miracle hair oil is actually one of our best sellers, and we love it when custom-
ers give such amazing feedback about it. There are many oils available in the market, which end up confusing you. So we decided to come up with a recipe that will solve all sorts of hair problems. From hair fall to dandruff, split ends, hair thinning, dry and brittle hair etc. In this recipe we use a blend of coconut and olive oil as a base and it is then infused with different powerful botanical ingredients, which are amazing for your hair. The entire process takes about 8 weeks but the end product is worth it. What ingredients do you use for your products? We use different ingredients for all our products, but we make sure all our ingredients are 100% natural. Even the preservative we add is from a natural source with no harm to our health or environment. For all our health products we emphasise on using organic ingredients only. Which is your personal favourite product? Something you swear by. Our almond scrub is our most favourite product. We use fresh raw almonds, every time we make a batch. It is truly a beautifying and nourishing face scrub/mask to give you the perfect soft, glowy, skin. The best part about it is that it is free from any harsh ingredients. Although we do not recommend daily exfoliation but the ingredients are so gentle that using it daily won’t harm your skin. Our readers would want to know a little about the brains behind Botanical Wonders? I graduated from McGill University in 2012 with a degree in economics and finance, where as my brother recently graduated from AUS with a degree in Accounting and management. I have always been very creative and loved to create and experiment with new things, in the initial days I did a course specially designed to formulate natural skin care. So I take care of all the formulas and packaging, whereas my brother manages all the sales and logistics. Apart from us we have a great team, with everyone putting in their best knowledge and effort at every level.
Are you planning to launch any new organic products soon? Yes, we’re currently working on a couple of products. Our customers ask for various products and we’re trying our best to incorporate their needs. What advice would you like to give to a junior you? Hard work never goes unpaid and never compromise on the quality of your product, you will surely get a positive feedback if your product is good. Lastly, where do you see Botanical Wonders in next five years? The idea behind creating Botanical Wonders was not as a beauty brand but as a wellness brand. We want to create more health products, because we firmly believe good health is the key to good skin also. Hopefully we will provide our customers with everyday health and beauty products locally so they do not have to source them from abroad. 2018

MAHAM BAIG AYESHA JATOI
For this beautiful lawn outfit, I wore nude heels from Zara and my diamond rings. I kept my makeup minimalistic and hair open. This look would be perfect for a day event.
This outfit speaks volumes on its own, styled it minimally with a pair of magenta Oscar de la Rentas. A perfect look for spring.

For this outfit I went for a slightly more formal look. I accessorized it with my silver pointed heels from Zara and pearl earrings from Allure by MHT. I kept my makeup natural with a pop of colour on my lips and my hair open. 32

Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? The world of architecture and design is something that I grew up in. My dad was an architect, and he was truly inspirational. Growing up around his desk and drawings I knew I was going to do something in the design world. What was your “aha!” moment? It was when during my school years when on one visit to the office, I saw these drawings and I went to that particular site where I saw the evolution of design from the drawing board into its physical form and I realized what an emotional impact it had on me. This is when I realized spaces really evoke emotions and it’s such a huge responsibility as the designer. I fell in love with his notion and never looked back. Did you ever consider or experience a career change? I had toyed with the idea of being a doctor, and I took all the relative subjects but then the aesthetic part and the emotional equivalent of architecture just drew me in. When was the last time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it? I genuinely find the act of plagiarism, the entire being of it to be something that makes me quite discouraged and disappointed. I believe in the creative process and I am someone who enjoys that. I can’t wait for the time when we are amongst the world leaders in this field. How do I get over it? Well I just design some more.
What does nobody tell you about being the boss? Everyone will be whispering when you walk by. Name on boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you? I truly admire Oprah Winfrey, I think she came from nothing and overcame whatever life dealt her and she is one woman who created such an effective brand by just being who she is. Describe a day in the life of Sarah Bilgrami My day starts off with the children. I’m not a morning person and I’m okay with that because I set everything in tone at night so that its ready for the morning, First thing I do is organize my day in terms of sorting my house and kids. Then I head off to work. I try to be there for picking up my children in the afternoon. We have lunch I take out time to sort their homework’s and what needs to be done and then I get back to my design field.
''MY DAD WAS AN ARCHITECT, AND HE WAS TRULY INSPIRATIONAL. GROWING UP AROUND HIS DESK AND DRAWINGS I KNEW I WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING IN THE DESIGN WORLD.''
What was the best advice that your mentor gave you? Work should never be a four letter word. What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life? My family, my ability to create and the freedom to execute it although this I attribute to my training and thirdly the true meaningful friendships I have cultivated over time. What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list? To rule the world.
Complete this sentence: To me, a #BossLady is…” She is one who is not afraid to be herself. What did you learn from your biggest failure? I learnt that it’s not the end and that it’s okay to fail. I think it’s very important to fail, Sometimes you learn more in a failure, in unrequited successes you may just be sailing along but I think it is failures that make you.
Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with? Hands down, Barak Obama. What advice would you give to young girls out there who have dreams and goals like yours I definitely believe there is no shortcut in life. First is to educate yourself and after that there has to be a consistent stream of hard work. So I wouldn’t shy away of it, shy away from burning the midnight oil. Because I think that those small lessons we learn from generations before us within us, need to go on. Ibelieve this year has been the year of girl and im so proud that more opportunities are arising for them to truly excel in.
