|ABOUT ME

How did Ethnic and Outfitters come to life? Outfitters was established back in 2003 by Mr Kamran Khurshid (CEO) with a vision to revamp the fashion industry and fill the gap in urban apparel in Pakistan. The brand originated in Lahore, Pakistan, where its sole focus was on trendy street-smart fashion for men and women. In 2008, Outfitters introduced a brand for kids as Outfitters Junior, focusing on kids’ fashion. Following that, the brand launched ‘Ethnic by Outfitters’ in 2013, an eastern wear brand offering modern fusion every day clothing. Since then, the company has launched over a hundred stores all over Pakistan and an online store shipping across the world.

Is this what you have always wanted to do? Well! It was not like an aim or a plan. The Fashion Industry came to me as a lucrative opportunity where I could see myself grow. Initially, I had started off exploring financial institutions and my spectrum revolved around investment, banking and other financial areas. Fashion industry came to me along early 2000’s in New York since then, I have worked for world’s best-known retail brands across the US, Middle East and now Pakistan. What’s the next step for Ethnic and Outfitters? To become a reference point for fast fashion mass market. Tell us one thing we don’t

know about you. I don’t have a Facebook account. What according to you should always be there in every man’s wardrobe? Even though a wardrobe may vary from one personality to another, I feel that the musthaves are an oxford shirt, white poplin shirt, basic crew neck, navy notch lapel suit, knitted tie, cotton chinos, joggers, white sneakers and a timeless watch. What was the best piece of advice you have ever gotten? I received a great advice from a mentor of mine several years back, that is; “Carefully listen, constantly adapt and always deliver” And I truly believe this has been an extravagant part of me in my professional career. Tell us a little about your educational background. I did my BBA in Marketing and International Business from Bernard Baruch College, City University of New York, USA. Do you think you have achieved everything you’ve always wanted? The only reason one can feel they have already accomplished everything is because they are too afraid to ask for more. I set new goals every day. I feel adaptive. I feel dynamic and I want to continue to do the best I can. What would you like to say to our Paperazzi followers? We are determined to produce apparel with an aspiration to be committed to the community. Thanks for making Outfitters your preferred apparel choice.

IN THE FIELD WITH...

Zarah Salman BLOGGER

Who is your best friend? My brother. What would you grab if your house was on your fire? The box of our old photographs. What is your destination for the trip of your dreams? Italy. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grow up? And do you still want it? A farmer! And no I don’t want to be one anymore. If you got stuck in the elevator and was forced to listen to only one song, which would it be? Trevesauras by Nicki Jam. What is the best advice anyone has ever given you? To always try my best and do things with passion because even if I fail at least I won’t have any regrets.

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? We went to Mexico City, Cancún and Tulum. However Mexico’s Boho Beach Spot Tulum, was our favourite part of the trip.

The entire beach strip has great bars and restaurants. The food at Tulum is excellent; I highly recommend trying Hartwood & Casa Jaguar for dinner. Gitano is a great bar with good food and music. Safari is perfect for a quick bite.

Who did you travel with? My husband Taimur and our friends.

Tell us about sites no one should miss out on? Mayan Civilization Ruins, Pablo Escobar’s Home, Cenotes (Fresh Water Caves), Downtown Tulum & strolling along the Tulum Beach Strip.

Where did you stay? In Tulum we stayed at a Villa at Anah Suites. It was in the middle of the Mayan Jungle. It had its own private beach, golf course, spa & resort. However we spent most of our time at the Tulum beach strip. Suggest some amazing restaurants there?

Suggest places for a perfect night out? If you are downtown, then Pasito Tun Tun & Batey are great places for a night out. I would recommend walking

down the Tulum Beach Strip at night. As in the evenings everything is beautifully illuminated by fire and candles. Walking down the street feels like an enchanting experience. What can you do over there to relax and unwind? Around 10 am, the hotels cabanas and day beds are set up on the beach. Posada Margherita & Nomade were my favourite spots for lazing on the beach and food is excellent too. There are massage beds and spas all over the beach strip. The perfect way to unwind is to get yourself a cup of chai from the chai bar and lie in a hammock with a book. Or walk into a free yoga class. Another way to relax and explore is to rent a bicycle and ride around town.

don’t work very well in Tulum so it’s best to look up addresses and save locations from before. The vibe in Tulum is bohemian and laid-back. Try not to rush through the experience, turn your phone and mind off and enjoy!

Our fab astrologer Zahid Haider, styles up your stars. Find out what’s in store for you this week! ARIES (MAR 21- APRIL 20) Go easy with your finances in the early part of the week. You could be tempted to splurge on something, which may not be very useful. With chatty Mercury aligning with dreamy Neptune and jovial Jupiter on Tuesday, you could be buoyed up by inspiring sales talk and thoughts of how you can benefit from this purchase. Give yourself a few days to think about it. If you still want it, go get it. If not, you’ll save yourself some cash. TAURUS (APR 21- MAY 21) The start of the week could see you enjoying a social extravaganza and getting along very well with the people you encounter. This can be a good opportunity to take your partner out for a great evening. If you’re looking for love, this could be a chance to chat with your latest love interest. There is certainly romantic potential in the air this week, so be alert. .

GEMINI (MAY 22-JUNE 21) The quarter moon at the start of the week could coincide with a need to get family members on board before you make a decision. If you can talk them through your plans in some detail, you may find that everything falls into place very nicely.

The quarter moon on Monday could leave you wondering whether to commit to a group or membership or leave it for now. If it’s expensive, this could be a sign to leave well enough alone. But it’s unlikely that you’ll want to work solo. Connecting with a team or partner might allow you to accomplish much more.

The general atmosphere this week seems to be very buoyant and uplifting. You might be ready to move out of your comfort zone in order to implement an idea that has been on your mind for some time. The support of a partner or loved one could be instrumental in encouraging you to make a start.

You could be tempted to splurge in the early part of the week. With inquisitive Mercury aligning with fortunate Jupiter in your money zone on Tuesday, you may not think about the price tag in your desire to purchase an expensive item or experience. However, before you spend any money, it might be wise to consider whether this is a good investment. It may not be.

Monday’s quarter moon in your social sector could leave you wondering how far to involve your friends in an idea. You might want to pool resources and skills, but you might also have reservations. Talking things over with the people involved can help put your mind at ease.

With talkative Mercury aligning with jovial Jupiter and caring Neptune, there could be opportunities to discuss matters in depth.

The quarter moon in an intense sector of your chart on Monday could encourage you to think more deeply about a creative idea or project. Working out the costs in some detail can enable you to make a more informed decision.

Your social life continues to be busy, and this could lead to some positive opportunities over the course of this week. With chatty Mercury making an upbeat tie to fortunate Jupiter in your sector of far horizons on Tuesday, a bold step forward could open new doors.
