|IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Why did you decide to become a model? I wanted to be seen on the billboards across the country and gain popularity. Who has been your biggest inspiration and why? I get inspired by people around me on a daily basis by their small acts of kindness, quality to be non judgmental and loving. Tell us about a time when you had to deal with an obsessive fan. What was the situation and how did you react? I haven’t come across one as yet. What is the funniest question that you have ever been asked in an interview? Nothing specific as such but its funny how every interview has the same set of questions like your first question why modeling? Google has that answer by now. #humor

If you weren’t a model, what would you be doing right now? See it's hard to keep a record because I am not sure what I answered in my last interview but let's just be honest , I always dreamt big and a job as an accountant wouldn't have helped me to achieve my goals. Which supermodel do you look up to and why?
Everyone is amazing in their own way, great portfolios and them jaw lines, but I never look up to anyone since the constant comparison of having to be like someone kills me. Instead, I respect, love and appreciate them but I can't look up to them since I just stick to achieving the goals I have set for myself. What is your creative process before you take over the runway? I dance. What’s your motto or the advice you live by? Wrong is wrong and right is right, you can never justify wrong, you don't have to prove anything, let time decide for you. And never make those mistakes that wont allow you to face yourself in the mirror. What is your favorite song to belt out at in the car? I don’t really have a favourite. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I am a big time introvert. Who has been your mentor in this industry and what would you like to say to them today? Shani bhai, bara bhai, every time I go on stage I forget to take his name. I have learnt major life lessons from him. Ten years from now you will be‌ The most influential person on planet earth, kehnay main kya hai! Lol. No I wasn't joking.

he Artisans, Rural Women, Seamstress, Tailor… or Born Makers. See the gifts of incorporation, of collective identity in Aangan, (The Courtyard) installation at London Design Biennale, a cascade of garments — made of over one hundred garments, hand embroidered and hand stitched by 60 women part of Kaarvan Crafts Foundation’s collective kinship. Aangan is an invitation to explore the inner worlds of the Pakistani artisans through film projections and computerized art. See how these women imbue cloth with secret dreams, visions and hopes of the future. Aangan is representation of collective commons, of integration, of transformative gifts — came to life through
collaboration between Kaarvan Crafts Foundation – an organization dedicated to empowering rural women by providing life skills that could open doors to opportunities towards attaining economic and material goods – and Wagging Tongue Productions – a UK based company dedicated to building bridges through arts, design, performance and films projects. Defying categorization! These women are representation of multitudes, of being both generalists and specialists. It is this space between the two extremes of specialism and generalism that these women claim and blend lived experiences and knowledge of hand-embroidery, fashion and technology to give rise to a spectrum of possibilities. They
are transcending craft into cultivating creativity by sharing their gifts & talents with local community and the world. Clothing is part of us. It is our external skin. Embedded in the clothing is identity, a visual representation of likes, values and standards. In cities, we eagerly choose and buy our clothing from retail shops — there in forget the secret hands that beautify our external skin. Egos are shrugged aside. These women do not seek fame or glory rather they are invested in cultivating creativity and meaning. They are committed to realizing a future of education, honor and home. It is here — resilient spirit — shifts with context, develops alternate routes, gives and receives without judgment; that Kaarvan Crafts Foundation provides space for exploration and development. Give rise to their vocation by awaking their personal gifts and talents. Kaarvan teachings act as transformative gifts — passing of knowledge. These women fuse their generalist experiences with specialist’s knowledge gained at Kaarvan to respond to big issues (financial limitation, educational constraints or fixed mindsets) by creating cloth, a tangible gift as well as pathway to entrepreneurship. Cultivating creativity is the giving and receiving of the gifts and talents. In the villages of Pakistan, women are blurring the edges of vocation, of crafts into gifts. They are sharing not only tangible article of clothing but also mobilizing their local community to access their specialized knowledge, to teach, to add, to keep gifts/ talents in motion. Think of gifts as “teachings” or as true mentors, which awakens a part of the soul. Such gifts promise transformation as these women strive towards betterment, everything around them, i.e. society, itself becomes better too. Come receive the gifts, an expression of authenticity, self-acceptance and belonging. Become interwoven into the social fabric interlocking households. 2018

healthy hearty salads
INGREDIENTS: • 10 oz baby spinach • ½ cup onion, sliced • ½ cup walnuts • ½ cup crumbled feta • 1 pomegranate, peeled For the balsamic vinaigrette • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar • 2 teaspoons dark brown sugar, optional • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic • ½ teaspoon salt • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper • ¾ cup olive oil METHOD: To prepare the dressing: Beat the vinegar in a bowl with the sugar, garlic, salt and pepper until sugar and salt dissolves. Then beat in the oil very slowly, whisking constantly. Taste and adjust the seasonings. (If you’re in a hurry, add all the ingredients in a mason jar with a tight lid and shake well for 2 minutes.) To assemble the salad: place spinach in a bowl and top with red onion, walnuts and crumbled feta. Sprinkle pomegranate seeds over the top, and drizzle with vinaigrette. NOTE: If you roast the walnuts, it gives the salad an extra crunch. To roast, spread walnuts on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven (180°C) for ten minutes. You can replace the pomegranate with ½ cup sliced strawberries.

ARIES (MAR. 21- APRIL 20) New ideas have a way of intimidating some people, but definitely not you. You have the insight and wisdom to recognize a good thing when it comes along. Today, keep your eyes peeled for a crowd of people running and screaming. TAURUS (APR. 21- MAY 21) Making order out of the chaos that surrounds you today will bring a deep sense of accomplishment, not to mention clarity. Finally, the increasingly weird actions of a loved one will make more sense. This person wanted your attention. GEMINI (MAY 22-JUNE 21) Someone from the past will come back into your life today, and you'll find that this person has radically changed. Give him or her the benefit of any doubt. CANCER (JUNE 22-JULY 22) Teamwork can be a magical thing that helps a group of people create new, innovative ideas where only opinions existed before. But collaboration can also cause a lot of tension and conflict if tender egos are involved. LEO (JULY 23-AUG 22) You feel ready to go on to the next level; however, it looks as though you're the only one right now. But don't worry -- being out of sync is not necessarily a bad sign.
SCORPIO (OCT. 24 - NOV. 22) The interior decorator deep inside of you is rearing its beautifully coiffured head today! Every drab room you see will pain you, so your vivid imagination will actively seek out solutions. SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 23 -DEC. 21) It takes a lot of energy to meet new people, so if you aren't exactly in a social-butterfly mood, the people in your life need to be understanding. CAPRICORN (DEC 22.- JAN. 20) This is not a very good time for you to be starting something new, especially if the new venture involves a great deal of risk. AQUARIUS (JAN. 21.- FEB. 19) If you feel as though no one understands where you're coming from today, don't be surprised. The universe is pushing you into a more polarized environment, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to find like-minded people to keep you company. PISCES (FEB. 20-MAR. 20) Lately, your eagerness to please other people is at odds with your available time -- it looks as though you are due for some major reprioritizing. Figuring out whom to assist could be a little difficult -- and it's not the squeakiest wheel that should get the grease first!
VIRGO (AUG. 23 -SEPT. 23) Want to learn something new today? Take your big todo list, put it in a blender and press 'puree'. It's time to mix things up a bit! LIBRA (SEPT. 24 -OCT. 23) Creating an intellectual connection with someone else is easier than you think -- it just requires that you be bold. So if you need to make headway with someone, today is the day to put forth just a little bit more effort than you might be comfortable with.
