Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? Writing had always been one of my strengths and I had always imagined myself to be a fiction writer. After reading Harry Potter, I was convinced that I would be the next J.K. Rowling but that never happened and I became a fashion designer instead. However, by becoming a designer, I have found another platform and avenue to express my creativity; designing clothes helps me look for beauty in every little thing I look at. It is a very liberating feeling to be able to translate something people visualize to be very boring or bland into something absolutely beautiful and that is what makes me love my profession even more.

boss? Being a boss comes with a lot of responsibility. You are responsible for all those people working for you. As a boss, one needs to learn how to listen, comprehend and execute effectively to be able to run a team. It's not an easy job! Name one boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you? My older sister Amina, who’s a lawyer in New York, is one woman who I absolutely admire. I see her juggling her professional and private life meticulously and that really makes me look up to her. I am inspired by her work ethic. She’s always taught me to be comfortable in my own skin and empower other women around me like a real boss woman.

ABOUT ME

In

Conversation With PR Guru Hasan Rizvi » What makes BBPR stand apart from the rest of the competitors in the PR domain? We are utterly crazy! We lovely jumping around the box, testing ourselves, and just going crazy with our ideas. That being said working in the corporate culture we ensure to be meticulous. » How do you come up with an idea for any campaign you work on? We do brainstorming sessions, think tanks, review case studies, understand the brand, speak its language and ideate. » Hasan Rizvi is known as the PR Guru. How does that make you feel? Marketing has always been my calling. Using fun and engaging tools to send a message is an art I’m still learning.

30

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2018

» What does PR mean to you? PR is an amplification tool. Best used to increase awareness and give the freedom to choose. » Which campaign is the closest to your heart and why? #AchaiBarhnayDo for sure. Working with special children hands down was the most rewarding experience till date. I take it upon myself to increase awareness for different special needs not only in Pakistan but everywhere.

» What is a day in Hasan Rizvi’s life like? Hectic: a 12 hour work day followed by the gym a little bit of family time and then back to the grind. Weekends are more fun obviously. » How does Hasan Rizvi maintain a balance in his professional and personal life? I compartmentalize, which doesn’t always work out but I do my best. » Name 3 things you don’t like about yourself and would want to change. I stress a lot, don’t spend enough time with my kids and parents and lastly I have a very low tolerance for stupidity. » Which brand out of the many you work on your favorite and why? Too many to choose one, but my favourite ones are Cornetto, BlueBand, Knorr, Surf, Lifebuoy and Shell to name a few. » Knorr or Maggi Noodles? Knorr all the way! » What’s your next move in PR? We are looking into exploring opportunities abroad. With a strong hold in Pakistan that’s the next logical move. » If you were to be in another profession, what would it be and why? A lawyer, TV Host or maybe even a full time humanitarian. » Name a project carried out by a competitor that you wished you had done? Strepcils Stereo. Absolutely loved the campaign! » What does competition mean to you? I’m threatened by creativity, power while money is temporary. » A message you’d like to give out to the young entrepreneurs. Don’t be afraid to experiment. You never know, some of the craziest ideas go viral!
