Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? I have always aspired for something along these lines – international mergers and recognition of our culture have been my goal! Braahti – my textile brand, was promoted beyond borders since 2004 and the same goes for Shaan-e-Pakistan and all projects under this umbrella including my upcoming edition SEPMA2019 which I am very excited about! What was your “aha!” moment? After the Pulwama attacks, when we were informed about the Indian sentiments, and for all parties for reversing decisions and invitation to perform at SEPMA was one of that kind of moment recently. I had a moment of great insight and discovery. Getting out of a crisis situation is itself a great learning experience, and has always made me more passionate than ever about exhibiting local culture at SEPMA. Did you ever consider or experience a career change? To diversify always however Never as a primary goal as what i am currently doing is not a career; it’s a dream and a vision and it’s safe to say that I am living it. Creativity drives me and the culture and tradition of Pakistan have been my inspiration. I am very lucky to have made a career out of my passion and I am honored to be serving the nation by sending out a positive image of the prolific heritage of Pakistan.
What does nobody tell you about being the boss? The downside is that there is hardly room for mistakes, because an error can shake your entire team and reputation, not just you – meaning that the stakes are very high for the boss. Name on boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you? Oprah Winfrey, for her struggle from a humble beginning to where she is now. I love her spirit – how she is so unapologetically herself and continuously inspires others to be the same. Describe a day in your life. I wake up very early. Begin my day with meditation and a healthy breakfast to fuel my day. Next, I run through my emails, the newspaper and then jot down my tasks for the day. The day is spent delegating and evaluating tasks and learning from my peers. The day ends with an assessment of how many tasks I was able to accomplish, a warm cup of tea and my favorite read.
"TO ME BOSSLADY IS SOMETIMES THE BOSS, SOMETIMES A TEAM PLAYER, BUT ALWAYS FIERCE AND A DREAMER!"
When was time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it? The current Indo-Pak situation had left me really discouraged as its since my past 5 seasons; i have always fought it strong however this time we had to make some decisions. Shaan-e-Pakistan is now going ahead without cross border talent and will not be cancelled. My efforts and energy will be redirected to showcasing Pakistani talent solely and giving our super talented artists a collaborative celebration to perform at SEPMA.
What was the best advice that your mentor gave you? “If you’re going to be in the room, be useful.” This has stuck with me forever. Even if it means silently observing and taking notes, everything’s a lesson, and even if your contribution is meager, it’s better than nothing. What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life? My relationships, health and of course, Shaan-e-Pakistan. What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list? Getting Arijit Singh and Atif Aslam to collaborate in Pakistan
Complete this sentence: To me, a #BossLady is…” Sometimes the boss, sometimes a team player, but always fierce and a dreamer! What did you learn from your biggest failure? Failure is unavoidable. I have encountered monumental failures throughout my life but one thing they couldn’t hamper was my resilience. Failure has been the best coach, for it has taught me that it is not the end of the road, it has made me thankful for the blessings I have, has made me redefine my priorities in life; shuffle things around to make room for what’s important and has strengthened my faith in the higher
power! Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with? That would be the late Benazir Bhutto. She was the first woman to head a democratic government, her fearless campaigning and endless struggle are unrivalled. Yet it is not just politics that her legacy is limited to. For me, she will be remembered most of all for her unapologetic attitude to womanhood. Benazir was one leader who did not give into the hyper masculinity so common of her times. What advice would you give to young girls out there who have dreams and goals like yours? When this notion was conceived, it seemed impossible. I felt like no one around me believed in my vision – people felt it was long catch. But I never stopped believing in my dream or my ability to be able to achieve my dreams. So my advice to young, aspiring girls would be – even if you’re the only person believing in your dream that is enough! Channel your energy and focus it towards your goal. Hard work and persistence never goes to waste. 2019

Up, close and personal with Sarfraz Niazi, the Creative Director of EPIC. Tell us about EPIC? EPIC basically reflects our vision, passion, and creation, that is “To think big and out of the box”. It aspires to empower the talent resources in order to amplify their missions through creative collaboration, storytelling, and technology that activates their associations.. EPIC is not just an abbreviation; it’s a journey within, a world beyond! It stands for: 1. E- Entertainment 2. P- Productions 3. I- Integrations4. C- Celebrity Management & Content Creation

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE
2019
What inspired you to begin EPIC’s journey? A series of events and achievements gave birth to EPIC. EPIC grew from its roots as I felt it was the need of the hour. The idea of EPIC was generated in 2017. At that time I was sure about the fact that some ideas can't be restricted behind the bars of brain nerves, they need to be released at the right time, for the right purpose. Hence 2017, was the proper time to expand the horizons and have more freedom to leverage the creative hoard. To be very honest, I never planned on playing safe and being another predictable subsidiary company. It had to be something original
and true to its roots. Enlighten us about the company’s values and philosophy? We are clinched at the nexus of celebrities, content, brands, talent, technology, and events; Think Epic Agency creates boundless opportunities for the trendsetters, creative resources, and thought leaders who shape the media industry culture. In a nutshell, the philosophy and its core value is about “What you think, you become”. Taking the previous question ahead, if you have to define then tell us what is the agenda of EPIC? EPIC’s agenda is simple, “Being
Original”. We are proudly taking our own legacy ahead in the league, by setting high standards; across television, digital media, marketing, music, sports, and beyond - Epic represents numerous of Pakistan's leading actors, musical artists, models, designers, consumer brands, and more. In service of numerous talent resources we are dedicated to persisting the influential, most vigorous, and most innovative talent agency in Pakistan. Is the agenda same as your company’s vision? Obviously no! Agenda is the plan of action, its the road map to achieve the vision. Our vision statement could be regarded as precise in words but it is broader in its meaning and practicality. It’s about leveraging the limitless potential and consistently making efforts to show the world that we are Epic - this is what makes us unique! Any three quotes that you find inspiring and you believe in? I totally believe in “Those who look for seashells will find seashells, those who open them will find the pearls”. I keep telling my team that, “A ship is always safe at the shore, but that is not what it’s built for”. And lastly, I keep reminding this to myself “If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader, sell ice cream - Steve Jobs”. Tell us about your roles in building up the team and taking the legacy ahead. We have named our team as, “The Force” and “Epic Squad”. “The Force” which drives the team includes me; 'Sarfaraz Niazi'- Creative Director & Partner- being responsible for leading from the front and making most of our decisions with respect to our day to day affairs; business development, making strategies and concept writing! On the other hand, Jahanzaib Shafiq - Consulting Partner- plays more of a “Devil’s advocate” and gives us another dimension, which helps our team to reevaluate the project and to improve it further more. The EPIC Squad is a wing of fun-loving young minds - who are smarter than their years, go-getters, quick learners, and original thinkers. Together we are all geared up for the Epic Mission! How is the office life at EPIC? Life at EPIC is as amazing as our name is. As I stated earlier that ‘Epic Squad’ is a troop of fun-loving people, so the office environment is as cool as the people here are. No one is bound to yawn 9-5 p.m. due to boredom, or follow the orthodox office rules here. This is our second home, everyone is free to work comfortably and it is made sure no one gets bored! We celebrate together, eat together, enjoy music, and not to miss the weekend cricket sessions too! What aspirations do you have for your dream project? We have successfully worked on lots n lots of huge projects, within and across the borders. Naming a few, that have been a game changer and trend setter in their impact; Veon by Jazz, 7up Foodies, Huawei/Porsche Mate 10 Launch, Dew Gamers Arena and Pepsi Retro Showcase.
Is Epic working on or planning to release its own Content? Content creation is one of Epic’s core substances. I have actually put my thoughts in a liner, which has been brainstormed, wrote and revisited – the process has thoroughly been repeated. Hence, the idea is finally refined and locked. Considering our originality element, we have made sure that this project proves to be one of its kind. Will disclose the date real soon, till then – keep guessing! ;) A message you would like to give to our Paperazzi followers and readers. I believe that one should not only be a dreamer but rather an achiever, with consistency as the main ingredient of life. The young blood of our nation should always aim high for the moon and strive to reach the moon, rather than seeing the clock tick-tocking. Because once the time gets out of your hands, there is no rewind option.
Please tell us the process of hiring people for your company. We hire people for the “passion and drive” they have, because skills can be developed but passion makes the fuel fulfilled even being exhausted on the journey. Also, they definitely have to be good at multitasking because at any given time you have, like, 20 different things going on at once!
