5 quick questions with the cast of Wrong No wron g n o will have y o u dialin g the right n u m ber to boo k y o ur tickets for pakis tan ’ s lates t comedy film . maneha tari q has a quick chat with the cas t an d here ’ s what they had to s ay :

danis h taimoor So without giving anything away, tell us your favourite dialogue from the film. Agar koi meray khawabon kay beech aaya toh choroon ga nahin usay. That’s pretty intense. On that note, which character do you think is going to blow people away? Me as Sallu Haha loving the confidence. If someone was to make your life into a movie, who would you want from the Pakistani cinema to play you? There is no one. Woah, I hope someone has at least managed to inspire you? Of course, Waheed Murad and Yasir Nawaz Two great and truly inspirational men. So tell us, if you weren’t an actor, you would have been a: A cricketer We won’t take much more time, just tell us a fact about you that people don’t know: I am honest

j anita as ma

We’ll get straight to the nitty gritty – tell us who’s role is going to blow people away? 16

Danish Taimoor’s, Javed Shaikh and me!

khana. I live to eat!

I can’t wait – I’ve heard so much about your role. Tell us your favourite dialogue: Film dekhnay ka matlub ye ni k ap khud ko hero samajh bethen larki ko ghundon ne chera aur ap unhein marnay ohanch jayen”

On that note, tell us what song helps you unwind: Uptown Funk

Typical men. So tell us, if someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would you want to play you? That’s a hard one, I’m one of a kind We wholeheartedly agree. Tell us a fact people don’t know about you: I’m an absolute animal lover I won’t take more of your time, but tell me, what was the hardest scene to shoot? I had to dance in a moving bus for one of the songs – probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. And before we part, if you weren’t an actress you would be a: Psychiatrist

s o hai ali abro

First things first, tell us your favourite dialogue from the film: “Dekh humara beech jo kuch bhi howa who kisi ko batana mut, bhool ja!” Woah, that seem’s really intense. It must have been hard to shoot such romantic scenes: It was extremely difficult! I’ve never had to do such scenes before

y as ir

Director Saab, congratulations on another feather in your cap. Tell us if you weren’t a filmmaker what would you be: Nothing, this is what I’m born to do! Being a filmmaker comes with a lot of responsibility and stress. What was the hardest scene to shoot? The outdoor sequences were particularly difficult. It was extremely difficult to manage the crowd that had gathered around while we were shooting I can only imagine how difficult that would have been. So how do you wear off all the stress? By spending time with my family and kids Sweet! Who do you think knows you well enough to play your role in a movie? I would have to say my wife Nida You’re saying all the right things today! Who’s been your biggest inspiration in this industry? Shoaib Mansoor Good luck with everything! Before we part ways, tell us what’s next for you? Let’s see what Wrong No has in store for me!

Speaking of romantic scenes, should there be an age restriction? Not at all, it’s definitely a movie everyone can watch That’s good to hear! I’m sure most families are lining up outside theatres as we speak. So now that you're free from shooting, how will you spend today? I’m enjoying being home, lying on my couch eating ghar ka

ABOUT ME:

Hussain Salahuddin CV

Hometown: Lahore, Pakistan College: Parsons, NY Instagram: @ hussainsalahuddin.psd

Your necessary travel items as a budding artist? Everything’s on my phone. This question is so 2010.

Your 3 favourite art installations since you moved to New York? The Maybe - Tilda Swinton at MoMA Desire Obtain Cherish - Unix Gallery Equal - Richard Serra at David Zwirner

What or whom was your inspiration to pursue a career as an artist? My parents told me to be an artist or sit at home, I always wanted to be a lawyer. So much pressure. Considering you live in New York, which is home to an array of artistic talent, how do you plan on making your work stand out? In a place where everyone is trying to be unique and bold, the only people who stand out are the ones that are not trying hard at all. What was your thesis about and what components did you use for the thesis installation? 18

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2015

My thesis is called, “This Is Not A Bomb”. It is an installation revolving around an audiopublication, a newspaper, an illustrated comic book and a website. The visuals in my publication/website are intended to make Americans aware of their conditioning to fear us; and to put them in the same situation of generalization and absurd representations. It explores the Colonialist attitude in Western media and culture through sounds and curated visuals. From the bizarre statements of Fox News reporters, to the promotion of phantasms through Hollywood; and how “mass media designs to psychologically make present the possibility of physical threat stimulating continued public support of the ‘War on Terror’ since 9/11.” I tried to reverse the roles, If all Pakistani women are as oppressed as Malala, then all American women aren’t any sharper than Sarah Palin. What do you do to get into your creative zone? If only I could trigger it myself, that’s the funny thing about creativity and inspiration, it can excite you at any moment but hardly ever the right one. What do you wish to accomplish with your art? I want my art to force people to start asking the real questions, about things that matter. Like: When will Malala get a makeover? Do you ever create hidden meanings or messages in your work? If yes, what do you intend to convey? I’ll give you an example: Some people might have actually thought I was concerned about Malala getting a makeover (which I am) but, the real reason I ask that question is that if Malala adapts to the ways of Britain, washes her face and puts on some makeup, will she still be the symbol of oppression she represents for the West? Send a Pakistani girl to England for a week, and if she doesn’t come back with a subtle-British accent and a slightly better sense of style you can change my name. What piece of work are you most proud of? And why?

The Cheese Omelette I made yesterday, I’m proud of it because I hustled with the only things I had left in my fridge. What are the top 5 Instagram accounts that you follow religiously? @yumasui - Yu Masui - A Japanese Fashion / Food Blogger based in London @kai_ yoshizawa - K.A.I. Art, Fashion & Graphics @acnestudios - Acne Studios, so I know when to run to the store @fuckingcoolthings - okay, pretty self-explanatory. @aishaasna- just to keep an eye on what mother-dear is up to. Tell us five eateries/restaurants that cannot be missed while in New York? No i’m not going to suggest Halal Guys unless you want to gain 50 pounds and die of diabetes. 1. The Little Prince - A Modern Twist on French Cuisine, but go for the French Onion Soup Burger. 2. Beauty & Essex - Kale & Apple Salad. 3. ABC Cocina - the interior is cool, but the food is good too. 4. The Empire Diner - In Chelsea, the nucleus of the Contemporary Art scene, is a traditional diner with a menu that never disappoints. 5. Cafeteria - Fried Oreos with a sliver of mint icecream. In the last few years, is there any place you have visited that has inspired you? Hoya Azul, Mexico If you hadn’t chosen your field, what alternate career field would you have been in? Biomedical Engineering What are your other interests, beside designing and the arts? Trying to decipher what George R. R. Martin is thinking. It’s a very time-consuming interest. Believe it or not, i’m getting more and more accurate.

planes, trains & automobiles

Travelling is great fun! You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our new section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? New Zealand. It's actually a funny story - I always wanted to go to Bora Bora and the route is via Auckland. So I applied for my NZ visa but they gave a single entry stamp, due to which Bora Bora couldn't materialise :( After coming to terms with my disappointment (and reading about Waitomo caves) I convinced my husband to go ahead with just NZ and I'm glad we went!

hotel in both the places.

Who did you travel with? My husband

What are some of the best shopping spots there? Honestly, NZ isn't really about shopping (a fact my husband was pretty happy about!). The concept of international brands is almost non-existent (there's no Chanel or Hermes!) and the people are very laid back and casual in terms of their fashion style. They do have a few local high street brands which were quite nice. Sylvia Park was a nice mall to hang out at though with a good mix of everything.

Where did you stay? I went to Auckland and Queenstown and stayed at Sofitel

Suggest some restaurants and cafes that shouldn't be missed out on?

What can you do there to relax and unwind? The sugar club in Auckland is superb for their unique food There's this place in Queenstown called Onsen Hot Pools and great skyline view. In queenstown, jervois steakhouse where they've made private, open air hot pools on top and pier19 were amazing but the must-go is kappa! It was of a mountain. So you enjoy a magical starry view of the this adorable little Japanese place opened by an Asian sky at night, relaxing in the hot pool, sipping hot chocolate couple in the attic of their house and they make fresh sushi while the cool wind blows. You can even close the roof infront of you - BEST miso soup i've ever had! And ofcourse if you want. I've never experienced anything of such sort how can I miss FERGBURGER!!! Open 22 hours a day (with before. It was romantic, relaxing and thrilling all at the same a long queue most of the time) It's almost like a landmark in time! Queenstown. Finally, any tips? Tell us about sights and landmarks If you're tired of going to London every summers :p and that are a must to go to? want to connect with nature at its best, you need to go Waitomo caves for sure, the whole experience is surreal! to NZ! I'm not a very outdoorsy person, yet this vacation The hot geysers and Polynesian natural Spa in rotorua holds a special place in my heart because it was just so were also super cool. Queenstown is the adventure capireal. I gathered the courage to do things i never thought i'd do or enjoy (skydiving, clay shooting!) and i surprised mytal of the world, so it's more about the activities than the landmarks. I'd recommend gondola skyline (definitely go self. The world famous steaks are reason enough to go. Its luging!!!), Shotover jet boating, NZONE skydiving (NZ is the especially a great vacay spot for kids because of the variskydiving capital of the world) and a drive down to Glenous activities that NZ has invented and I've never seen/ orchy for the most amazing scenic views. heard off them anywhere else (luge, zorbing etc). Oh and try going in winters so you can enjoy the summers there! Suggest some places for a perfect night out?

travel diaries

To my surprise, food in NZ was actually a culinary experience! They are certainly not laid back when it comes to their meals hehe. Even in the most casual of cafes you can expect an exquisitely presented dish with a wide variety of flavours being experimented. By the end of my stay in Auckland, I felt like a judge in master chef!

You didn't expect Monday to be all about your family, but that's exactly what it is going to be about. And as with most family-related things, you can expect the emotions to get a little intense. Your best bet? Get in and get out. You can't solve their problems in a day. Your family just wants to know that you care. Midweek, the tides are going to turn in your favor. Expect some romance. Expect some energizing competition of a physical nature. (Basketball? A bake-off?) And expect a leisurely weekend. A day or two of rest -- at last!

Whatever you're feeling, let your friends know on Monday. They know you better than anyone, and they're not going to be shocked. Besides, you'll feel so much better once this is all off your chest. Wednesday will bring problems of a more annoying nature -- a power struggle is seriously going to test your tolerance -- but if you say as little as possible and let this other person live out their own drama, you will come out perfectly unscathed. By the end of the week, your luck with others is going to change. You're about to get struck by Cupid's arrow. Make sure you're in plain sight.

You thought you had more money than you actually do on Monday. These things happen. The wisest thing through midweek and possibly later -- until the next wave of cash comes in -- is to be a little cheap. Don't rush out and buy that fancy new whatever-it-is. Eat at a pizza place instead of a French place. Et cetera. By week's end, you'll realize that you don't need to drop a lot of dough in order to have a really great time. You are so good in conversation with friends and so smart at debating, that you could have fun anywhere. Now if only you were as good at communicating with your family....

It's as if someone split you magically in two on Monday. Part of you wants to run out and play in the snow. The other part of you wants to sit by the fire and not budge. Follow your strongest impulses, even when you have slight reservations. Your intuition is strong and should be trusted. Toward the middle of the week, you'll be feeling a little more bold. Extravagant, even. You may even make a big purchase. (No bargain shopping for you -- not this week.) This weekend, expect back-to-back great days. Social days. Busy, busy, busy!

You are an intuitive person and a thoughtful friend. People are constantly amazed by your small acts of kindness, and early this week someone is going to thank you profusely for something you thought was a no-brainer. In an unexpected way, you are going to be at the center of the spotlight all this week. It will be as if everyone else is a minor character in a movie all about you. Not that you mind. The light is warmer than you expected, and the attention is flattering. By the weekend, you might decide to lay low and spend some time blissfully doing nothing at all.

Monday, the situation is in dire need of some organization, and organizing is what you do best. Either it's your family that's trying to come together and get something done, a group of friends or a team of people at work -- whatever it is, don't be shy about taking control, especially by midweek. People look to you for this kind of thing. That said, you should be flexible. Brute force is never going to fly. (You know this, but it's important to be reminded, especially this week.) Once you've gotten everything all squared away, you'll be the focus of everyone's admiration, and it'll feel great. This weekend? Clear skies.

Monday, you are all set and things are clicking along just fine, and then someone has to go and throw a tennis ball at your perfectly constructed house of cards. Okay, so the metaphor's a bit mixed. The point is, things are going to be a bit scrambled until midweek and possibly later. The people you thought were with you on this are going to act cloudy and aloof, and the people you thought were aloof are going to be way more engaged than you thought. How weird! Nevertheless, you are talented and perceptive, and by the weekend you'll have it all ironed out.

Monday, you have tons of friends and charm to spare. You can get virtually anything you want, so long as you play your cards right. The problem is, the cards you get by midweek are going to be pretty tough, so it's going to take some shrewd card-playing to make them work in your favor. Still, if anyone can do it, you can. The best strategy is to play it modest, especially at the end of the week. Lay low. Be soft-spoken and don't dive toward your target until you're absolutely sure that it's within your grasp. The weekend you'll spend mostly with friends. Be open. Someone has a fascinating secret to share.

aquarius

pisces

You didn't expect to wake up feeling so emotional Monday, but these things can't always be explained. As a general rule, you don't overreact when things don't go your way. It is the nature of things to change when you least expect it. And it is crucial to be flexible. A power struggle with an authority figure midweek is going to force you to come to some sort of compromise, but keep in mind that compromise is healthy and often brings about a better end anyway. This weekend, someone is going to try to sign you up for something that sounds too good to be true. You're right. It is.

Ah, romance. It feels good, doesn't it? You never expected it to be this good at the beginning of the week, but here you are feeling all giddy whenever you think about you-knowwho. This is the way it's supposed to be. You'll probably be consumed in these thoughts especially at midweek -- even when you should be thinking about things like work and what you're going to do about a certain pesky coworker. If at all possible by week's end, try to stay focused at work so that when you're not at work you don't have to think about it at all. This weekend is going to be all you and you-know-who, all the time. It will be a terrific weekend.

It's Monday and you're feeling moody. You have romance on the brain -- or more accurately, the recent lack thereof -- and instead of sharing your feelings with a good friend you're probably going to get a little philosophical and turn inward. That works, too. An awful lot of fuss is made about how people should always share their feelings when the truth is that people who are constantly sharing their feelings can get a bit tedious. Worry not! By midweek, you'll be out of this funk -- in part because you'll finally see an opportunity to get out of Dodge. Book a trip somewhere faraway over the weekend. You never know who you'll meet.

There's no sense losing your mind over this on Monday. It's just a minor disturbance in the atmosphere of your world, and soon enough all will be smoothed out. In the meantime, expect bizarre extremes in energy and in the emotions you inspire in others, especially on Thursday. (Why are people so dramatic? It's endlessly baffling.) Even when things don't exactly go your way, you're pretty good at keeping your composure. People have noticed that. By the weekend, the tide will turn your way because you convey an amazing amount of grace under pressure and an amazing amount of patience, too. Look at you go!
