3 things you don’t leave home without? My iPhone My diary Lipstick

What is your background and training? Do you have any formal training in design? I did my undergraduate and masters in England. I completed my higher education from UCL in Construction Economics and Project Management and started working for the UN and World Bank, in New York and then South Asia. I took courses in design during that time! Tell us a little about your current collection. What is your design philosophy? This collection is called the Cuspate Collection. It is primarily about transition in my life. It reflects aspects of my own signature style: chic, personal and utilitarian with subtle statements. Each piece is inspired and named after a chapter in my life - the result was a palette of neutral tones within the handbags, jewellery and apparel with accents of colors: emerald green, blues and maroon interspersed 56

with gold-within the jewellery, hardware for handbags and embellishments for apparel. There is a lot of dedication to refined craftsmanship and a mix of traditional with contemporary aesthetic forms. Where do you draw inspiration from? My inspiration comes from my experiences, travels and my interactions with people. The more I observe, the more I understand what I aspire for my collections to look like, and how I imagine my pieces being adorned. You are one of the few designers who make customized bags. What inspired you to do so? People are very keen on owning designer handbags and don’t seem to mind end up carrying the same bag as many others! It got me thinking that having a personalized bag with your most treasured memory printed on it, which is then handcrafted with embroidery will never have a value, and will remain a timeless piece! No two clients will ever have the same piece as I only make one of each design.. Can you walk us through the design and production process, of say one of the customized bags? After consulting with the client, I always take accents from the photograph that I feel are essential components of their life within the photograph and they signify something – from a the facade in the background of an image that shows the family holiday or the jewellery accents from a vintage photograph. From concept, to design to the complete handbag – each piece is individualistic and reflective of a persons experience, love, and their expression – and therefore each piece is something unique. What kind of person wears REMA Luxe? Chic and experimental at times, yet true to their personal style! If you could see any woman wearing your designs, who would it be? There are a lot of people that come to my mind but a recent favourite would be Amal Alamuddin Clooney! How does it feel to see other people wearing your creations? It's so satisfying to see people appreciate my work. I get very excited when I see someone wearing my pieces; it's such a great compliment to see people are enjoying wearing it as much as I enjoyed making it! How much jewellery do you wear on any given day? What are some of your favorite pieces from your collection? I keep it simple, with a midi ring or two and band on my finger. The chain strand ear cuff, the boxy logo studs and the boxy shoulder bag, the Logo Cufflinks and the red Pate jacket are definitely my favourites from the collection! What is the most important lesson you've learned as an entrepreneur? Be realistic, be transparent and fair and remain focused on what you want to achieve Where do you see REMA going in the next five years? I see it going international, and with my products available on different platforms as outlets along with a lot of emphasis on e-commerce. 2015

I wanted something traditional and extremely festive for my mehndi! Chunri has always been a personal favourite, so I decided to go with a heavily worked chunri and mukesh chaddar by Bunto Kazmi. To complete the look, she paired the chaddar with a rust choli and maroon lehnga. Fari at Aramish gave me a very natural look with minimal makeup and made a messy braid on the side to complement my outfit.

Being a bride is possibly one of the most difficult processes one goes through! We plan our wedding day and what we will wear years before the actual wedding. Meticulous planning goes into each look from the colour combinations and embellishment of the outfits to the jewellery, hair and makeup. Here we feature some of our favourite brides and show you what they wore to their special days. Find out what they have to say!

Staying away from typical shades of red, I chose a beautiful and unusual salmon pink as the color for my main outfit! I left the rest up to Bunto Kazmi – traditional brides are her forte! I wanted something extremely contemporary and the complete opposite of my barat outfit. No one does gowns and bling better than Faraz Manan, so it was only obvious I got my outfit made from him. He custom-made me a heavily embellished full length gown with a trail. I loved the detailing and cutwork touches he added to the outfit. Siffat at Madeeha’s did a beautiful job of my makeup and also added a fun twist to this outfit by giving me a messy hairdo.

Travelling is great fun! You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our new section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? My husband Shammal Qureshi planned a surprise trip for just the two of us to the Maldives to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary! All he told me was take your snorkelling gear so I figured it was some place beachy Who did you travel with? My husband Shammal Qureshi. We travelled from Karachi to Colombo, Srilanka and from to Male- the capital of Maldives Where did you stay? We stayed on the southern most island in Maldives called

travel diaries

Addu Atol. For our stay, we decided to stay at The Shangrila Hotel. Shammal did his research well, and after spending many hours online and reading many travel blogs, he decided on this hotel. I have to say we had a great experience and will definitely stay here again. The resort covered the whole island. The island itself was surrounded by white sand and crystal clear water What are the best shopping spots there? The best shopping spots are mostly in Male, the capital of Maldives. My personal favorite were the local jewellery boutiques. Since Sri Lanka is only a two-hour plane journey

Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Fushala, Shangila Hotel’s fusion fine dining restaurant was definitely our favourite! Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on Maldives is just so beautiful! Flying over the islands is an amazing experience and extremely overwhelming – I’ve never seen such shades of turquoise before! I really recommend snorkeling to anyone travelling to the Maldives, its

something you should definitely not miss out on! The coral reefs there are absolutely stunning. The Shangrila has a house reef called Pearl Reef that houses hundreds of different types of fish and turtles. It is also home to pink dolphins - the hotels dolphin cruise is highly recommended! Suggest places for a perfect night out The hotel set up a romantic dinner for just the two of us on the beach. The food was from a restaurant called Dr. Ali which specializes in Maldivian, Arabic and Indian seafood. The food was divine, the view was unreal and of course, the company couldn’t have been better. What can you do over there to relax and unwind? Maldives is all about relaxing, unwinding and swimming. After my mini vacation, I’ve come back fresh and inspired, ready to take on new challenges with a clear head.

Monday through Wednesday, you’re trying to get a jump on the week. You want to get as much done as possible, and to get ahead without making it look like you’re trying too hard. After all, wouldn’t it be great for your reputation if you could make magic happen and not break a sweat? You’re going to need help, and you know exactly whom to ask. Motivate them well. Thursday and Friday, a group meeting reveals that everyone more or less thinks of you as being in charge. You’re a natural leader. This weekend, do what you can to shine light on other people.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are excellent days. Some travel plans get finalized (you can’t wait!), someone who thinks they’re much smarter than you concedes that you were right and they were wrong about something (your head’s getting big!) and someone you’ve never understood explains their side of things (you’re learning!). Thursday and Friday are a little less than excellent — a power struggle is in the stars and your friends are being weird. But Saturday and Sunday, your friends are back to normal and one in particular is in need of an update. Spend an evening together and fill them in.

Monday through Wednesday, nothing is as it seems. You can tell something’s up, but that doesn’t help you. Try to draw people out, but don’t work too hard at it. Some things take time. It’ll all become clear soon enough. Go into Thursday and Friday with an open mind, because something radical is under way, and you’re going to find out about it. The more prepared you are to have your point of view completely turned around, the better. This weekend, occupy your brain with something creative. Postpone all thoughts of math and politics and communicating with other people (unless you’re thinking about them creatively).

Monday through Wednesday, you don’t particularly feel like engaging with the rest of the world. It’s all so exhausting and the possibility of being misunderstood is great. On the other hand, are you going to let them get to you like that? No way! Balance is key, especially the balance between caring what other people think and not worrying about what other people think. Thursday and Friday, everyone wants to talk about money, but you’re a lot more interested in talking about ideas. Saturday and Sunday, do something that really lets your mind wander. Go for a walk. Doodle a landscape.

leo

virgo

libra

scorpio

Monday through Wednesday, watch your words. Something flippant and funny and just a little biting might really rattle someone — even if you’re absolutely, obviously kidding. Offhand comments have a way of sinking into people, and you don’t want people you adore walking around slightly damaged by you. Thursday and Friday, the thing you’re trying hardest to do might be a waste of your time. Consider letting go. Saturday and Sunday, as much as it seems like you should make a financial decision, put it off until next week. You’re still letting your plan take shape in your mind.

Monday through Wednesday are your reward for weeks of doing good for the world; a sudden surge of great stuff heads your way, most likely in the form of romance and creative inspiration. Oh, happy days! Thursday and Friday aren’t explicitly romantic and creative, but the effects of Monday through Wednesday last long into the week. You’re still walking on air. You’re perhaps even nicer to people than usual. Saturday and Sunday are confusing but in a mildly pleasant way: Sometimes it’s nice to be in over your head.

Monday through Wednesday are kind of gloomy, but not in a very noticeable way. It’s more like an afterthought, a background thought, a not-all-thatdistracting feeling. Mostly you just feel unbalanced. But don’t worry, because on Thursday and Friday, the feeling evaporates in the heat of a romantic bender. And not only are you getting along fantastically well with you-knowwho, but you’re getting along fantastically well with everyone. Saturday and Sunday, try not to be swayed by people who don’t fully understand your goals. Your plan is good and right.

Monday through Wednesday draws on your powers of determination and self-control. You’re under intense scrutiny at work, for whatever reason. (A promotion on the horizon? You never know.) In any case, you work incredibly well with other people. This may explain why everyone wants to be on your side. If only you were so appreciated at home! This is a common refrain in your mind, but it’s especially true Thursday and Friday. Expect something unexpected in the domestic realm. Saturday and Sunday, all the worries wash away in a wave of romance.

Monday through Wednesday, you find your outlook subtly affected by the amount of money in your wallet. Specifically, you have a desire to keep more of it in there. It’s true that no amount of money can buy you a good time; even a day skiing in the most fantastic setting of all would be for naught if you weren’t into it. Most of the pleasure you get out of the week is social, and most of your social time is on Thursday and Friday. You love talking to someone from a completely different social group. This weekend, if you feel like you should leave the house but you don’t really want to, don’t.

Monday through Wednesday is pretty much what you always want in your workdays: lots getting done, a happy outlook, high energy, recognition in the areas where you deserve it. Of course, the compliments from your good friends are the ones that mean the most, but even people you barely know are impressed. Thursday and Friday you’re given to daydreaming about the future. You can’t help it: Things look really good from where you are! Saturday and Sunday, put all of your energy into something other than work.

From Monday through Wednesday, every fiber in your being is telling you to climb out of the cockpit and onto the wing to repair any problems. But you know full well that you can’t climb out of the cockpit and fix the wing — you’ll get sucked into outer space! You have to keep flying the thing. That’s the first half of your week. Again, you want to keep on flying. On Thursday and Friday, you’re in beautiful territory. Blue skies. Friends nearby. A clear sense of your future. Saturday and Sunday, you’re trying to reconcile the fantastical stuff about the world with the everyday.

Monday through Wednesday, you become the point person in a group — it could be coworkers, friends, classmates or acquaintances. The reason you’re perceived as a good person for everyone else to follow? It’s because you seem to be someone who knows other people, including influential people, important people. You know how to use your social capital. On Thursday and Friday, you dream of being able to help more people, but that can become a trap: You can spend so much time on others that you’re distracting yourself from, well … yourself. This weekend, turn your focus toward you. It’s time.
