Atitan of cinema known for his distinctive South London accent, Sir Michael Caine - born Maurice Micklewhite –is one of Britain’s most enduring actors. Over more than 60 years, he has appeared in over 130 films and is considered a British film icon.

As a schoolboy, Caine was repeatedly taught to respect “his betters” and it took the social revolution of the 1960s, he says, to make it clear that such a hierarchy did not exist. “I’ve met lots of my equals since. But no betters.” Indeed, Michael Caine has become the cinematic face and voice of the cultural upheaval of the era of the swinging 60s, starting with his award-winning performance as the working-class titular character in Alfie (1966).

The Festival is pleased to showcase his latest film, Best Sellers, a warm-hearted road movie in which a cranky, retired author reluctantly embarks on a final book tour to help out a young publisher. The feature directorial debut of Canadian actor Lina Roessler (Lost Girl), based on Anthony Grieco’s award-winning original screenplay, Sir Michael Caine stars alongside Aubrey Plaza in this rollicking literary comedy.
