Astranger-than-fiction true story set during WWII 2 starring Colin Firth (BFF20 Supernova, The King’s Speech) and Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice), Operation Mincemeatdepicts the deception effort by the Allies to keep the invasion of Italy hidden.

In 1943, as the Allies are determined to launch an all-out assault on Fortress Europe but face a seemingly impossible challenge, two brilliant intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu and Charles Cholmondeley devise an inspired although improbable disinformation plan, dubbed Operation Mincemeat.

They would trick the Nazis into thinking that Allied forces were planning to attack southern Europe by way of Greece rather than Sicily. Their plan was to disguise the body of a recently-deceased man, equipping it with misleading papers, then drop it off the coast of Spain where Nazi spies would take the bait.

Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Penelope Wilton (BFF20 Summerland, Downton Abbey) and Johnny Flynn (also in Stardust), and adapted from Ben Macintyre's novel of the same name, director John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) delivers an incredible true story of WWII espionage.
