Statistics show that more than $6 billion worth of proposed or continuing infrastructure investment is underway in Brisbane’s West End Peninsula - a precinct comprising the suburbs of West End, South Brisbane and Highgate Hill – and the area is set to accommodate a large percentage of the Brisbane’s predicted population surge, according to Place Advisory.
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data showed that the West End Peninsula will experience growth much higher than levels expected in wider Brisbane, in addition to the area’s forecasted injection of employment, with the area rapidly emerging as the destination of choice for Brisbane residents.
The report has identified that confidence in the zone’s apartment market is at an all time high, with the area set to 2

combined attendance at the surrounding universities and with inner Brisbane expected to create more than 18,600 jobs over the next five years the area’s popularity is set to skyrocket; leading to a strong return on investment in the area in conjunction with high levels of productivity. Brisbane’s economic growth is fuelled by a competitive business base, combined with the injection of high levels of investment and innovation. Continued investment in property and trade is expected to drive superior economic growth within the area. THE WEST END MARKET IS BUILT FROM TWO MAJOR DEMOGRAPHIC GROUPS; TOP END INCOME PROFESSIONALS AND STUDENTS, HIGHLIGHTED BY THE INCOME PROFILE WHICH OUTLINES THAT THE MAJORITY OF WEST END RESIDENTS (34 PER CENT) EARN LESS THAN $20,800 PER YEAR, HOWEVER, 12 PER CENT OF THE POPULATION BRINGS IN MORE THAN $104,000 PER YEAR – DOUBLE THE AVERAGE OBSERVED IN GREATER BRISBANE. South Brisbane stands as the West End Peninsula’s major employer, currently employing 22,741 people, a figure expected to reach 46,448 by 2031. Additionally with the Peninsula being only a few minutes’ drive to the Brisbane Airport via the Airport Link, the area provides the ultimate geographic location and strategic gateway for trade with Asia, enhancing the area as a key destination to reside. “The West End Peninsula is equipped with the infrastructure and amenities to support a much higher population density than that which it currently accommodates. The area has been earmarked to accommodate a large proportion of Brisbane’s projected population growth over the coming years, as Australia experiences a further period of urbanisation. “We will see more and more families opt for apartment living.
