Speaking of all things cool, the Bulimba Fashion Festival took place recently. Place agent Shannon Harvey created the event in 2009, and this year Place, together with event partners and valued sponsors, helped to raise $30,000 for the Mates4Mates charity. In this edition we take a moment to report on the Bulimba Fashion Festival and notable highlights of the event. Please enjoy the read. RAISES $30,000 FOR MATES4MATES CHARITY PLACE ESTATE AGENTS’ LEAD AGENT SHANNON HARVEY TOGETHER WITH EVENT PARTNERS PROUDLY PRESENTED THE SEVENTH ANNUAL EVERMORE HOMES BULIMBA FASHION FESTIVAL ON JUNE 19, RAISING A TOTAL OF $30,000 FOR THE MATES4MATES CHARITY.

“I took advantage of my networks and kick-started the Bulimba Fashion Festival back in 2009. Fortunately, the people of Brisbane welcomed the event. It’s become a renowned local event which, most importantly, raises funds for vital causes.

Mates4Mates ambassador and Victoria Cross winner Daniel Keighran VC was welcomed as special guest to the festival.

“This year, I am proud to announce festival proceeds went to Mates4Mates, which provides crucial physical and psychological rehabilitation for current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members who are wounded, injured or ill. Mates4Mates ambassador Daniel Keighran VC attended the event as special guest, and we were proud and honoured to have him attend,” said Ms Harvey.

Hosted by Nova 106.9 Breakfast Show host Kip Wightman, the event showcased winter fashions from a range of Brisbane designers. Shannon Harvey created the Bulimba Fashion Festival in 2009 with the aim of contributing to the community by raising funds for charity.

Daniel Keighran VC enlisted in the Australian Army at age 17 and served his country for 11 years. On August 24 2010, during his second deployment to Afghanistan, Daniel was part of an Afghan and Australian fighting patrol engaged by a numerically superior and coordinated enemy force near the village of Derapet, Uruzgan province. For his actions on this day, Corporal Keighran was subsequently awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia. Sponsors for the annual event included Time Home Loans, Acache, Audi Centre Springwood in addition to Evermore Homes, an organisation who have sponsored the event since its inception. “This year will be the seventh consecutive year Evermore Homes have sponsored the event; we love supporting the community and the Bulimba Fashion Festival is an easy choice as so many people benefit from this event. Not to mention it is great fun,” says Luke Maguire, Director of Evermore Homes. “IN 2014 THE BULIMBA FASHION FESTIVAL RAISED FUNDS FOR THE AUSTRALIAN LIVER FOUNDATION, AND OVER THE LAST SEVEN YEARS A TOTAL OF $165,000 HAS BEEN RAISED FOR VARIOUS CHARITIES, WHICH I AM IMMENSELY PROUD OF,” SAID MS HARVEY. The seventh annual Bulimba Fashion Festival was held at Oxford 152 located on Oxford Street, Bulimba.
