The past six months have simply flown by and the team at Place is looking forward to the months ahead with great anticipation. July is an eventful time in Brisbane, with one of the major highlights being the annual Teneriffe Festival. Celebrating its sixth year, almost 50,000 visitors turned out this year to enjoy the festival’s fine food, markets and fabulous entertainment. In this edition of Places we report on the recent fun and frivolity from this year’s event. In this issue too we have another premium portfolio of property listings for you to consider. TENERIFFE FESTIVAL DELIGHTS BRISBANE BRISBANE’S BOOMING SUBURB OF TENERIFFE WAS BUZZING ON SATURDAY JULY 4 WITH AN EXPLOSION OF EVENTS, FOOD, ART, ENTERTAINMENT AND FASHION AT BRISBANE’S ANNUAL TENERIFFE FESTIVAL. Now in its sixth year, the one-day festival attracted an audience of around 50,000 people and continues to be recognised as one of Brisbane’s most significant community events. The festival serves to celebrate the region’s history, energy, diversity and culture through a widespread program of food, history, street markets and children’s entertainment. Among the festival’s 100 street stalls was Place Estate Agents, located at stall 50 near the Dath Street entrance.

Place offered festival guests a unique opportunity by printing a Polaroid of their uploaded festival Instagram snaps free of charge. 40 food outlets, restaurants and stalls – including a bespoke cheese market which debuted this year – in addition to an expanded Kid's World, all ensured people of all ages could partake in the festival. Highlighting the Teneriffe Festival’s smorgasbord of music options, this year Powderfinger bassist turned entrepreneur John Collins worked alongside Footstomp Music to curate the festival’s musical line-up. Live music is a core component of the festival and this year the
offering encompassed jazz, roots, alternative pop and indie across 32 acts and totalling an excess of 100 musicians from across Brisbane through Vernon Terrace and on the Mirvac River Stage, a floating stage installation. Adding to the relaxed atmosphere was two riverside bars created by local favourites Green Beacon Brewing and Newstead Brewing Co. ‘Pork, Fork and Cork’ in the London Laneway – a hidden gem of the festival – featured for the fourth year in a row, as did the steeple-chasing piglets offered at Kid's World. For those seeking a historical journey, the Magical Mystery History tour took the crowds through Teneriffe’s landmarks led by the experts at the New Farm & Districts Historical Society who provided an engaging and educational tour. This year an entry fee of $2 for adults went toward security measures for the comfort and safety of guests. Several of Teneriffe’s main streets were closed to traffic, offering visitors a great opportunity to discover the exciting suburb. THE TENERIFFE FESTIVAL WAS COMPLEMENTED BY THE STORY BRIDGE HOSTING BRISBANE’S EAT STREET MARKETS ON SUNDAY TO MARK THE 75TH BIRTHDAY OF THE ICONIC CITY LANDMARK. The Story Bridge was closed to traffic for its ‘birthday bash’. 80 food vendors, 20 food trucks, four bars and live music was set up across the bridge’s six lanes, allowing the booked out event to be set up over the Brisbane River.
