IT WAS A NATURAL CHOICE THEN FOR BMW DEALERSHIP, MOTORLINE AT DAISY HILL, TO WELCOME ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S MOST DECORATED RUGBY PLAYERS, NATHAN SHARPE, TO THE FAMILY AS THEIR NEWEST AMBASSADOR. A former Wallabies captain, two time John Eales medallist and Teneriffe local, Place sat down with Nathan to find out more about his new gig with BMW’s 2014 Metropolitan Dealer of the Year, Motorline and to get his perspective on life in the river city.

What do you enjoy most about being a Motorline ambassador? The people in the organisation – they always go above and beyond. The cars are phenomenal, but you expect that from BMW. It’s the team that Craig Rose has assembled that puts them head and shoulders above. Which car do you drive and why? BMW X5 M series – by far the best car that I can say I have ever had the pleasure of driving by a country mile. Total performance balanced with supreme comfort – it really is the Ultimate Driving Machine.
What is the best thing to have happened to Brisbane in the last 20 years? The revitalization of all the old haunts – travelling to other cities regularly, I can say that Brisbane is really progressing in terms of developing as a city which has plenty on offer and a real buzz if you want to get amongst it. What’s your favourite road trip destination? I haven’t had too much of a chance as yet to go for long trips, however I am going to drive down to Sydney over a week once summer is here so I can spend plenty of time in the ocean on the way down. Byron and Mooloolaba are my two favourite places away from home. What is your favourite thing about living in Teneriffe? Being so spoilt for choice of things to do. It doesn’t matter what the weather is doing you can always find something going on or a great place to pull up a stool and have a top meal. The location to the city and airport, combined with the great infrastructure and the ability to live a healthy lifestyle there is what makes it so enjoyable for me.

Where do you go to dine out? Pablo or Sampson & Sophie for breakfast goes well, but for a long lunch or dinner I really enjoy eating at Bucci, Beccofino or Tinderbox – I must love my Italian! It is also hard to beat Jamie’s Espresso on the way to work. Where do you like to unwind? Walking, riding or running along the river or just lying on the grass in one of the great parks nearby. A beer at the Queens Arms or the Triffid for some live music and plenty of good spots to eat. The Triffid – Teneriffe’s home of live music.
Best piece of advice you were ever given? Work the hardest when no one is looking. What do you look for in a residential property? A quiet street within walking distance of shops – I love not having to get in the car to go places all the time. In terms of livability, a completely open floor plan where the kitchen, dining, living and outdoor area are all intertwined.
