Place Real Estate’s interior styling partner, Coco Republic Interior Design, was recently commissioned to complete the interior styling of a modern two storey home in the burgeoning superb of Wavell Heights, north of Brisbane’s CBD.

It was a significant exercise, with the Interior Design company becoming involved when construction was at a quite advanced stage.

The new home belonged to a young, single entrepreneur with a zest for life and an eye for style. The bachelor’s brief was implicit: deliver a sophisticated sanctuary with great entertaining potential.

“To contrast the soft neutral palette, we selected feature pieces that the owner will have forever, but can be easily updated in the future with new coloured cushions.”

“When we came in we had to contend with a lot of hard finishes. These took us in an initial direction but we soon saw we had to soften the mood with colour and texture. Beautiful wallpaper was a perfect choice to add that layer of softness. “Then other subtle layers like the joinery to the fireplace added that extra personality.” The Wavell Heights home has a timeless palette of soft greys and pebble tones to create an understated elegance. Beautiful furnishings and décor were then chosen to complement the contemporary fixtures.

Many of the pieces came from Oly San Francisco and Coco Republic - including the Western Clouds painting, Sylvan chandeliers and Houston dining chair.

Angela Haughton of Coco Republic Interior Design was charged with the responsibility of managing the project. “Our client is a successful business man who travels and likes to entertain”, Angela began. “He wanted his home to have polish and sophistication, but with areas to relax and also to entertain friends and family”.

And while the client was completely overwhelmed with his über chic bachelor pad, one particular piece of furniture commanded his attention. “We went with the Longbeach jumbo sofa and ottoman in the main living area, and it is the owner’s most loved piece in the house”, Angela enthused.

“So starting with a blank canvas new build, we aimed to create a comfortable and luxurious aesthetic throughout the interior and outdoor spaces, with a high end hotel feel”. The home was constructed by national building company, Metricon, with the home owner giving Coco Republic Interior Design carte blanche to fit out the spaces and add a welcoming warmth with completely new items.
