For The Block’s Michael and Carlene Duffy the choice has been made easy with their newest family member ‘Vonnie the Van’. As self-confessed caravan geeks, Michael and Carlene have recently teamed up with White Knight Paints to transform a vintage van into the ideal travelling holiday companion. Never afraid of a challenge, Michael and Carlene took on the project with the same infectious energy that the nation fell in love with on The Block. Taking inspiration from the stunning coastal bushland around their family home in Queensland’s Tallebudgera, Carlene started the design process by curating a mood board using a palette of varying shades of green, offset by brass and gold fixtures.

Applying all their home renovation skills to Vonnie’s makeover, Michael and Carlene upcycled old furniture using acrylic enamel spray paint; modernised the benches and cupboards with laminate paint and brought her exterior and chassis back to life. Flawlessly finished and coated in muted green and crisp white, Vonnie now exudes a soft, relaxed and natural vibe that is reminiscent of 1960s Palm Springs with a hint of glam. The finished product sleeps two adults and two kids, making it perfect for overnight visits from in-laws, airbnb accommodation or a great way to explore our country and coastline.
