Day 5 Hospet

Bangalore

Arrive at the hotel for lunch and then depart to visit the Vidhana Soudha, the state legislature of Karnataka. Travel to St. Mark’s Cathedral to admire its colonial architecture and cleanse your spirit before visiting several shops and pubs along MG Road. Drive to Yeshwantpur Station and board the Golden Chariot for your unforgettable voyage through Karnataka. Day 2 Mysore Depart to Srirangapatna to explore the Daria Daulat Fort and enjoy lunch. Venture through the Chamundi Hills to visit the towering monolith of Nandi before arriving at the resplendent Mysore Palace. Take an elephant ride and enjoy a Rangayana cultural show before heading back to the train for dinner. Day 3 Kabini This morning, embark on a scenic drive to Kabini, where lunch is served prior to a relaxing nature walk and boat safari. The day continues with an exciting Jeep safari through Rajiv Gandhi National Park where you have the opportunity to spot many species of wildlife including elephant, gaur, sambar and maybe even the elusive tiger. Day 4 Hassan Your journey continues to Belur and Halebidu to explore the magnificent Hoysala Temple Complex and the intricately carved Chennakesava and Hoysaleswara Temples. Return to the train for lunch and later this afternoon, drive to the important Jain pilgrim center of Shravanabelagola to see the massive monolithic statue of Lord Gomateswara which looms atop the picturesque Vindhyagiri Hill. This capital of Karnataka is also known as the “Garden City” because of its salubrious climate and greenery. This unique city combines its rich cultural heritage with modern-day technological and industrial achievements.

Mysore

The former state capital, Mysore is a vibrant city teeming with visitors and locals alike. It is world-renowned for its exotic sandalwood and rich silks. Many culinary delights await those inclined to sample the regional cuisine.

Kabini

Rajiv Gandhi National Park, Nagarhole (Kabini), the former hunting retreat of Mysore Maharajas, is the perfect destination for wildlife lovers in South India.

Arrive in Hampi and explore the magnificent hand-carved pillars and statues of the Vijayanagara ruins that comprise a World Heritage Site. First visit the Sacred Centre before returning to the train for lunch, then head back to town to tour the Royal Centre and the Vittala Temple Complex with its famous stone chariot shrine. Take a tour of the craft bazaar and enjoy shopping for the remainder of the afternoon. Day 6 Gadag Travel to Badami for a tour of the temples of Aihole, acclaimed as the “cradle of Hindu temple architecture” and the beautifullychiseled monuments of Pattadakal on the banks of the Malaprabha River. Enjoy a relaxing lunch and then feast your eyes on Badami’s splendid rock-cut cave temples which were constructed between the 6th and 8th centuries. Drive back to Gadag to rejoin the train. Day 7 Goa This morning, depart for Goa’s Candolim beach followed by lunch. Take a tour of the beautiful churches and temples in Old Goa and transfer to Panjim’s serene Miramar beach where the afternoon is yours at leisure to soak up the sun and relax on Goa’s golden sands. Return to the train this evening for your last night on board as it travels back to Bangalore. Day 8 Bangalore

Belur

Belur is famous mainly for its Hoysala Temple complex and ornate Chennakesava Temple, the façade of which is filled with intricate sculptures with no portion left blank.

Hampi

Hampi was the seat of the famed Vijayanagara Empire in post-moghul India. Now, the 14th century ruins of Hampi have been designated a World Heritage Site and narrate the story of its former grandeur, splendor and fabulous wealth.

Badami

Badami is picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rocky hills. The exquisite sculptures and cave temples in the rust red sandstone cliffs tell many tales of yore.
