Edge-Zero II w/ZPS3Fe

The Zero Point System in the Edge-Zero II makes tuning easier and faster as well as providing stable tuning for long performances, all while maintaining smooth tremolo playing. Engineered to remove all points of friction, ZPS is the smoothest Ibanez Back Stop ever. Even when a string breaks loss of tuning is minimized. For players that prefer a full floating system, simply remove the stop bar. The innovative use of an additional outer pair of springs provides easier tuning and noticeably greater tuning stability than the traditional floating tremolo.

Rg

Bo

rn in the age of boundary-breaking guitar virtuosity, the Ibanez RG earned its reputation as a serious tool for serious players. Just as those players pushed themselves to new levels of jaw-dropping proficiency, we pushed ourselves to improve, refine and inspire. The RG 25th Anniversary Model is an amalgam of those inspiring refinements. It’s also a reminder: The difference between electric and electrifying... that’s Ibanez.

Premium Neck

5pc Maple/Walnut Wizard Premium neck on RG Premium models is following the same playability and comfort on its Prestige counterpart.

DiMarzio® IBZ Pickups

DiMarzio® ibz pickups were made by DiMarzio® specially for Ibanez. The tone is vivid but easy to control to your sonic requirement.

Premium Fret Edge Treatment

Super-smooth fret edges are produced by a hand-crimping technique, usually only found on much more expensive instruments.

S

T

he cutting edge of Ibanez design, the S series, continues to be a marvel of form and function. Its signature body shape - sculpted, lightweight, and mahogany - is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much. Though no longer called by its original name, the Saber, the S series is still a rock 'n' roll version of that quick, graceful and potentially lethal weapon. The S Prestige is "Made in Japan" by the finest Ibanez craftsmen and from top-ofthe-line components.

Manually Adjustable Spring System

Spring tension can be quickly set by thumb. There's no need for a hex wrench.

34

ZPS (Zero Point System) No friction points make the ZPS the smoothest Ibanez Back Stop ever.
An additional outer pair of springs provides easier tuning and better tuning stability than the traditional floating tremolo-plus the other strings will remain in tune if a string breaks.

Barless Top-Lok

HGD & ST Pickups

The Hot Grinder pickups are specially designed for the S Prestige—gain is optimized yet sharpness is not sacrificed. The Short Tracer single coil pickup matches perfectly with the hot humbuckers making the S guitars among the most versatile.

The Barless Top-Lok eliminates the need for a retainer bar to maintain string tension. Through its simple design, it holds the correct angle for the strings without one. The metal-injection molding process means that all the edges remain smooth, so you won't hurt your hands.

Pickup Mounting Ring

The original pickup mounting ring, specially designed for the Darkstone, keeps the pickup parallel to the strings at all times. Unlike the usual mounting rings, this one enables the pickups to catch equal vibrations from each string and avoid tone loss.

CAP-PP1 Pickups (DN500)

The tube pole-piece construction of the new pickups, designed for the Ibanez Darkstone, offers quick response, sparkling clarity, and added harmonics for a humbucker sound.

ESP'S LTD Deluxe Series guitars are a boon for technically gifted guitarists. These midpriced Korean-built super-axes feature detail-rich designs, fast playability, top-shelf components, tasteful embellishments and flawless fit and finish. ESP's latest addition to the series is the carved-top H-1001, a shred-ready beauty that ideally marries elegance and musicality with a devious metal attitude. My test guitar was the glossy black, non-trem variety, but options include figured maple tops and Floyd Rose trems. FEATURES
A mirror-like piano black finish with active EMG 81 and 85 pickups indicate that the H-1001 is designed for metal, but the fluid ergonomics of the carved-top mahogany body and slick neck give it a custom shop feel that would likely suit any style player who appreciates and recognizes a finely crafted instrument. Abalone inlays tastefully outline the body's top and frame the entire rosewood fretboard and headstock. The maple neck is shaped into what ESP calls a "thin-U" contour. The wide and flat hill facilitates wide intervals and stabilizes the thumb during fast runs, while the radiused shoulders create a comfortable junction with the fretboard. This lightning-fast stick couples with the body using ESP's ingenious set-through joint, in which the glued-in neck extends much deeper into the body than a standard set-neck joint. Players who shred the upper registers will likely appreciate how this contoured joint seamlessly eliminates the obstruction of a neck heel. Adding to the guitar's speed potential, massive and beautifully crowned fretwire makes it possible to fret notes with a light touch. The H-1001's hardware is as impressive as the guitar's design details. A locking TonePros Tune-o-matic-style bridge elevates the strings and locking ESP keys maintain absolute tuning stability through the wildest string stretches. The strings run through the body for maximum sustain, and the EMGs are controlled with a threeway blade switch and standard master volume and tone controls.

The Les Paul Standard is crafted with all the classic ingredients that helped make this model a legend over the past 54 years. A carved maple top (Standard grade on opaque finishes, AAA-Premium figured on trans finishes) contributes clarity and sustain, while a mahogany body adds depth and richness and new modern weight relief enhances resonance and reduces weight. A solid one-piece, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is glued in with a traditional mortis & tenon joint, and carved in the popular asymmetrical SlimTaper™ profile that first helped make Les Pauls the fastest players on earth back in 1960. But

while the rosewood fingerboard looks traditional, its dimensions feel entirely more comfortable in the hand thanks to a compound radius that starts at 10” at the nut for easy chording, and increases to 16” by the end of the board, for superbly breezy lead playing and bending higher up the neck. Traditional acrylic trapezoid markers further maintain the traditional look, echoed by the mother-of-pearl headstock logo and gold “Les Paul Model” silkscreen, while a 17-degree back-angled headstock and a PLEKcut Corian™ nut aid in sustain and resonance.

53

54

In the electronics department, things get interesting all over again. A BurstBucker Pro Rhythm and BurstBucker Pro Lead pickup are routed through push/pull switches hidden in all four control knobs to provide the most versatile wiring package ever loaded into a Les Paul Standard. Pop up either pickup’s volume control to access a new frequency tuned coil tap for a fatter single coil tone and better output balance, with hum canceling when both pickups are combined, and low-noise operation when used individually. Lifting the neck pickup’s tone control reverses the phase of the neck pickup. This yields out-of-phase tones when the pickups are combined in either humbucking or single coil mode. Additionally, when the neck pickup is in single coil mode, the phase switch can be used to determine which coil is on (up for outer and down for inner coil). Finally, the bridge pickup’s tone control offers Gibson’s new Pure Bypass setting, providing a preset “lead mode” that routes the bridge pickup straight to the output jack at full

output and brightness—bypassing the volume and tone controls entirely—for instant snarl and wail when you need it (in either humbucking or single-coil mode). Combined with the traditional three-way pickup selector, these switches yield an uprecedented number of tonal options from one guitar, while all the fat, rich, singing Les Paul Standard tone that originally made this guitar famous is still there in spades, too. Top it off with Grover™ Locking Kidney tuners, a TonePros™ tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and a traditional cream pickguard in the case should you decide to mount it, and the Les Paul Standard is undoubtedly the most versatile, and one of the best looking, Les Pauls ever to emerge from Gibson USA. Each guitar comes protected in a plush-lined hardshell case with black exterior, and includes owner's manual and adjustment literature, along with Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 customer service.

Epiphone's history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940s when Les, working nights at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created what might have been first the solid body electric guitar, better known as "The Log." Over the next 15 years, Les continued to develop his dream guitar

that would "sustain for days" and in the late '50s, Epiphone's historic Kalamazoo factory made that dream come true with the "sunburst" Les Paul Standard and its new pickup, the "PAF" humbucker. Players like Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and countless others get their signature sound from a "sunburst" Les Paul and now Epiphone gives you a chance to experience that one-of-a-kind tone at an affordable price with the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO. The Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO features Pro-Bucker™ "PAF"-style pickups with coil-tapping, new colors and a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top for a vintage look with all the modern appointments that players expect from Epiphone.
