Following up on Donors’ Pledges Many delays have been encountered and there has been a slow-down in funding of pledges made at the Cairo Conference for Gaza Reconstruction. As a result, many of the planned interventions for 2015 and 2016 have been delayed. The government will continue to follow up on donor pledges during 2017.

Gaza North Infrastructure Projects: Awarding recommendations have been approved by Kuwaiti Fund. Contract is under preparation. Khan Younis Infrastructure Projects: Khan Younis infrastructure bid has been released. Gaza, Middle area and Rafah Infrastructure Projects: Gaza, Middle area and Rafah infrastructure bids prepared and waiting for Kuwaiti Fund approval to be released and announced in local newspaper.
MoNE’s Labs Development Intervention: In process to release the bid to equip the MoNE's labs. Compensation for Productive Factories Intervention: First list that includes 32 factories has been sent to Kuwaiti Fund for approval (Wood and Construction Industries)
Livestock Intervention: agreements with 221 beneficiaries have been signed (first list).

Greenhouses Intervention: Beneficiaries' first list is under review with Kuwaiti Fund consultant (106 beneficiaries). Greenhouses and Livestock projects will be implemented following self-help modality. Quarantine Intervention: following up with many parties regarding the Allocated Land where that the Quarantine will be built and located.

Designing the National Water Carrier is underway by PWA.(Kuwait Gov. through this grant will cover around 43% of the total cost of the National Water Carrier).
Awarding recommendations have been approved by Kuwaiti Fund. (winners "13 NGOs" contractual process is underway). Priorities given to institutions support vulnerable groups. i.e. people with disability, orphans, etc.
Constructing maternity building at AL Shifa Medical Complex: Project documents prepared and delivered to the National Office (NORG). NORG and Kuwaiti Fund consultant are reviewing project documents.
Ministries support: Includes a list of the needs of the ministries (cars, office equipment, furniture, etc.).

The committee formed by the National Office (NORG) and Kuwaiti Fund's consultant and the relevant ministries and the representative of the Ministry Finance (MoF) studied the offers submitted by local companies, and sent awarding recommendations report to Kuwait Fund for approval.
Construction Materials The total number of requests for purchasing construction materials submitted under the temporary Gaza Reconstruction Mechanism (GRM) by owners of damaged homes, as well as persons not impacted by the 2014 Gaza war, has surpassed 159,000.

Currently, the GRM is experiencing delays in many of its components. Certain streams, such as the finishing stream has been stopped, whilst others are experiencing interruptions and long delays. This situation has affected the implementation of both the international and local projects. All sectors encountering problems and challenges for all materials stated in the Dual-use List which has been created by Israeli side.
If the current situation continues, all interventions in all sectors will encounter delays, especially the efforts toward growing the economy through implementing strategic and development projects.

The Central Water Desalination Project estimated budget is USD 410 million. “Working closely with EU donors to secure the funding� National Carrier: with total budget of USD 140 million. USD 60 million have been secured by the State of Kuwait (43% of the total cost). Other donors are showing interest in funding this strategic project. Other projects: Waste water plants, the use of treated wastewater for irrigation and small desalination plants.
Currently the sector is implementing interventions beyond emergency. This includes vital projects like new reservoirs in Gaza North and Gaza City.

It is expected to implement an intervention in 2017 with total amount of USD 8.6 million to support businesses (271 facilities) in the construction and wood sectors.
