WELCOME TO INFO PALO ALTO
Inside
6
There’s no place quite like Palo Alto. Since its earliest days, this tight-knit community of free thinkers has played a pivotal role in the arts, education, politics, technology and science, becoming the address of choice for dozens of Nobel Prize winners, tech visionaries, leaders of major arts movements and even a U.S. president. The community’s entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and zest for pushing beyond established boundaries have made Palo Alto not only a great place to call home, but a recognized leader that other communities strive to mimic worldwide. Our annual Info Palo Alto publication aims to make it easier for residents to maintain this spirit of collaboration by capturing key resources and data needed to connect with neighborhood leaders, participate in the community and create positive change. Within its pages, you will find the most useful information about the community from how to contact the mayor to where to find advocates for seniors and those in need. Our Education section offers comparative information on public and private schools. The Outdoors chapter maps out where you can swim, skateboard and play tennis. The Government chapter provides information on the boards and commissions that guide the city. Brand new in this year’s edition is a detailed look at neighborhood demographics and how to get in touch with neighborhood leaders. In addition to Info Palo Alto, you can visit PaloAltoOnline.com to stay up to date on Palo Alto news. Subscribe to Express, a daily email, and have the news delivered right to your inbox. Or check out Weekend Express, emailed on Thursdays, for the scoop on arts and entertainment. Both are free; sign up at PaloAltoOnline.com/express. If you’ve got suggestions for next year’s Info, please email editor@paweekly.com. We appreciate your feedback. Helping Our Community by Funding Our Schools! After a generous donation, 24 new laptops were purchased for the children.
Juliana Lee - Founder of the Juliana Lee Foundation, along with Nicki Smith - Principle of The Ohlone School, Sarah A. - Staff Member at Ohlone, and students of the Ohlone School
Juliana Lee’s Education Foundation Our purpose is to support and improve public schools by targeting specific needs. Although our local schools are very good, they have important needs which lack funds. Teachers need discretionary money to implement enrichment and extra curricular activities. The Juliana Lee Foundation, a 501c3 exempt organization, matches individual donations by doubling their value and donating yearly to PiE and Palo Alto Unified School District PTA at different sites.
If you would like to help and make a donation Please make checks payable to: Juliana Lee Foundation Send to: Juliana Lee Foundation 505 Hamilton Ave, Ste 100, Palo Alto, CA 94301 For more information contact please call: (408) 418-6250 or email: JulianaLeeFoundation@gmail.com www.PaloAltoOnline.com Info Palo Alto • 17
