DETAIL DESIGN FOR ENTRY AND FACADE

AIA SATHRON TOWER Located in most popular business district of Bangkok, AIA Sathron Tower is a LEED Gold certified Hi-En office building. It is a very first building in Bangkok for LEED Gold in Core and shell catagory. My responsibility in this project is working on design develop, and detail design. The idea of facade detail and its structure, along with a canopy detail is an expression of lightness and simplicity.

Moreover, I have chance to work on EIA submission process. In this phase, I studied environment impact about wind and shadow, circulation, view and open space, including comparison paradigm of building. Furthurmore, as a LEED gold applicant at that time, I worked on material specification, low-VOCs painting and coating, imported material and in-house material of door, hardwares, elevators and facade. This process allowed me to enhance my knowledge in LEED criteria as well as the prodecure.

THE SEED MEMORIES ARI When sky train reach Ari in 1999 the area has changed dramatically. From a high class neighborhood, it becomes one of the most vibrant residential district in Bangkok with many new condominiums pop up. Located in the area, this low rise condominium proposed to create a nostalgic living quality with a peaceful environment. According to Bangkok planning regulations which limite usable area and building height. To make this project feasible, the project splits to 3 buildings. The buildings layout creates a private inner courtyard with a shared facilities for the residents. Modular design of sales unit matrix effects building vertical structure and underground parking. Improved construction method and prefabrication were planned for the building construction to reduce impact in the neighborhood area.

Palau Mabul Island

BORNEO DIVERS RESORT Pulau Mabul island is a famous divers attraction, located in the eastern coast of Sabah in Malaysia. One side of the island dedicate to diving while another is fishery villages.

site plan design motive: BARRACUDA SHOAL

standard villa plan

“Shoal of Barracudas fish inspired the resort layout. Intercuspal position of villas gives each villa pocket garden and more privacy. All villas orientate in the same direction, face coral sea while the other side of the island connected to the villagers habitats become support facilities. Constrains of this project are construction method, materials use and power consumption. Therefore, the villa is designed to minimize air-conditioned space. The construction must be able to accomplish locally or prefabrication method. The construction materials must be easily transported due to the limited resource on site.

HISTORICAL LAYERS

CENTER OF CIVIL RIGHS MOVEMENT AND LABOR HISTORY The first phase of this studio is designing a campus for six buildings in Yesler Terrace district. Then Individual can choose the site in accordance with their urban design concept and work on their assigned building. My design approach for the center of civil righs and labor history is providing layers of understanding. Because a labor heritage and a civil rights history is an importation layer of Pacific Northwest societal development that remains a powerful force in contemporary society and politics. Giantic walls are the main concept element. They were placed and transformed according to circulation, functions, and most important, its context. Given a different tectonic to each layer, the walls metaphore each step of learnign and history. Together they compose a space in a poeting way. The building houses exhibition space, library, archive, auditorium, visual media center, and office space. It also provides housing complex on the top.

WALL OF MEMORIES With different tectonic, each layer of the walls represent a powerful symbols of remembrance and recognition of historical events and figures. Moreover the subtracted layer of walls creates a main exhibition hall. The hall provides a space for hosting formal civic events as well as a passage way from main road to a community plaza the park.

GREYHOUND BUS TERMINAL The new SODO Greyhound bus terminal is located at Southern of Downtown Seattle, with the I-90 on ramps spanning overhead across the north part of the site. The design proposal is inspired by the idea of “STOP MOTION”. Amidst the perpetual movement of the vehicles and people, the project suggests the sense of stillness created by the visual connection to the surrounding movement, coupled with the passengers’ own reflections.

In order to achieve the stop motion effect, the building is generously glazed to create a serial reflection. The series of tilted glass panels enclosed each stair create a fragmented and repeated series of reflections. Moreover, the visual connection from the building’s transparency provides a sense of security within the overshaded space.

The building design consists of two slipped volumes - one containing the entry, ticketing and offices, and the other the waiting area and bus bays. The building and its relationship to the freeways ramps and columns creates two outdoor spaces on the site. Each bus bay is separated by a glazed stair decending from the waiting room, which provides each bus with its own waiting area. The glazed stairs are skylite, allowing natural light to extend to the ground.

URBAN SCHOOL & CITY PLAY FIELD A ground floor of the school is designed to create a passage way that continue through a pedestrain alley connecting 2 parks together. The park to the south of the school is part of this project, which is design to elevate and connect two sides of the streets. Moreover it functions as an extended play field for kids as well as a recreation area of public use. connection

URBAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL As population grows in inner city of Seattle, education facility shall be improved to handle the growth. This school is design to be vertical. With a limited foot print, it not only provide a green urban space for the city but also proposes an unusual school design for USA.

site analysis

SITE PLAN - GROUND LEVEL

While ground floor of the building creates a place of arrival focusing on how the building meets ground. The multi-level school space concentrates on spatial flexibility for students and project centred environment that allows for physical change and the integration of various learning activites. Moreover, this project also focuses on the building energy consumption and envelop design that maximize clean energy use, both active and passive. Additionally, the study of classroom design, and children behavior are integrated in order to minimize a use of elevator, and create a positive learning environment.

CHANDIGARH CITY ARCHIVE Knowledge is the fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association (merriam-webster, 2015). Thus my interpretation for the Museum of Knowledge is a container of information and space for interaction, Chandigarh City Archive. At the center of Capitol Complex, propose a new language illustratign a contradiction of modernity and informality. It focuses not only on creating a playful and lively space that encourage movement and activites, but also promoting a chance of discovery, accidentally lesson and nonlinear experimental site. The site program aims to promote daily public uses to bring about social interaction in an exhibition of information and historical artifacts. It encourages public access and vibrant lifestyle of Indian.
