GIVE GENEROUSLY ON THE FRONT END – Combine your own resources, with that of sponsors to give generously to your clients. Just like the law of gravity, the law of sowing and reaping exists. WHY? If you want clients to invest in what you offer, you need to be willing to invest in them first.

7 Tip s Fo r Better Blo g Po sts Leading Social Blogger Denise Wakeman www.buildabetterblog.com Tip #1: Clarity The first and most important rule for creating effective content for your business blog is to be completely clear about why you‘re blogging in the first place. Be clear about the profile of your ideal reader (your customer) and about the core message as it relates to your business.

Tip # 2: Know what your readers want Always write with your reader in mind. Write as if you are answering the question ―what‘s in it for them?‖ Your readers are asking themselves all the time whether this blog is worth their time to read. You‘re more likely to keep them interested if you‘re "walking in their shoes." Address your readers’ major issues and concerns.

Tip #3: Edit Often So many blog posts start off with, ―The other day, I was thinking about…‖ or ―You know, summer‘s almost over and…‖. A blog post is not an essay and it‘s not poetry. Get to the point right away. Follow the rule of KISS = Keep It Simple, Sugar! (or Keep it Short, Sweet, and Succinct). That means you can actually write less. Write short, declarative sentences and omit all unnecessary words.

Tip #4: Create Keyword-Rich Headlines Write compelling headlines by using strategic keywords that are relevant to your topic. Keywords are often touted as gold by search engine optimization experts who want to charge you an arm and a leg for their services. For an in-depth discussion on writing effective blog post titles, read Chris Garrett‘s post on How to Create Headlines with Go Viral with Social Media.

Tip #5: Write great first sentences Write an optimized first paragraph using the same keywords you used in your post title. Make your point right away rather than leading into it. Use clear keywords in the first sentence of the first paragraph, and then summarize them again before you close your blog post. Always close by asking readers for their comments.

Tip #6: Keep it short and spacey When writing, keep paragraphs short. They should be one or two sentences at the most, and then break for a new paragraph. White space is your friend. Sometimes just one sentence can be effective as a paragraph. You want lots of white space between paragraphs on your blog.

Tip #7: Use bulleted lists Use bullet points and lists as often as possible. This makes your post easy: to read, scan, understand and remember Research shows that people prefer things to be easily digestible and chunked down for them. 5 Steps to dealing with OVERWHELM! Make sure you give yourself some quiet time to do this task. Take a packet of ‗post it‘ notes and find a wall or whiteboard, you need a surface you can stick the post it notes on. Now write every single task or idea that you have floating around in your head, each on its own individual post it note. You are not to make judgments, just write them down and stick the post –it note on the wall. e.g. ironing, exercise, gardening children‘s sport, names of articles you want to write or videos you want to make, date night, committee meetings EVERYTHING you can think of. Keep going until you feel blank then ask yourself – if there was something else that belongs on this list what would it be? Then add that. Do this through 3 blank spots.

Now have a look at all the notes you have and start to group them into logical categories e.g. you, home, relationship, children, business etc Maybe some have subcategories Business might include – bookwork, meetings, article writing, marketing etc

Now take one group at a time e.g. Home are there any tasks that absolutely need to be done by you, or that you enjoy doing? For example cooking dinner in the evening might be your unwind time, something you enjoy and you wish to continue with that task. Everything on that list that does not need to be done by you – find someone else to take care of it, What can you outsources personally and professionally, and do you really need to be on all those committees?

Once you have done this for each area of your life, have a look at the things that are left, make sure they really need to be done by you. When you are sure it‘s time to make some choices about how much time you are giving to each area of your life. Perhaps it‘s time to set some business hours for yourself so that work doesn‘t flow into every waking moment.

Get out your diary and schedule everything in, and put everything in its own time slot. Ensure this includes time out & time for you. Treat the appointments with yourself just like you would an important business appointment. When it‘s time to shut the laptop down and hangout with your family go do it. The wonderful thing about scheduling is that you know everything has its place. It is no longer consuming space in your thoughts while you need to be focused on something else. And the really cool thing is you will become much more productive and less stressed as a result.

Every LinkedIn member has a Public Profile URL which can be personalised as per the example When you first create your LinkedIn profile, your Public Profile URL will read something like this: http://au.linkedin.com/pub/karen-moloney/16/b16/225 If you go into the tab to Edit your Profile you will be able to change this to something more personal and I would suggest it‟s your name. After all, your LinkedIn profile is all about you! If your name is already taken, you may like to use a middle name or initial, or one of the suggestions that LinkedIn gives you. The important thing is that your first name and surname both appear in the URL. Why would I personalise my Public Profile URL? Google and LinkedIn are great mates, so if someone searches on your name in Google your LinkedIn profile is likely to appear near the top of the list of search results displayed, try it with my name. How else can my Public Profile URL help me? There are several ways you can actively direct traffic to your LinkedIn profile which, if it is complete and up to date, can be a much better marketing tool for you than even your company website. People do business with people and people want information about people. So why not direct them to a place where they can get all the information they need about you? Here‟s five ways you can easily drive traffic to your LinkedIn profile and really make it work for you: 1. Email signature Everyone includes contact details like email address and phone number on their email signature, but what if you leave that company or change your contact details? 7 Tips For Business Success Design your business with the end in mind from the very beginning. It‟s just like building a house. You need plans and a solid foundation before applying shortcuts. I‟m assuming you have a great idea, great products and you understand the principles of business success online. You can‟t take it to the stratosphere without lots of little details working well together. Become an expert at what drives your business. That includes sales, marketing and copywriting. If you just have these three skills with a great product or idea and you hire someone else in house or outsource everything else, you can be a great success in almost any economy. Focus on the drivers for at least 2 – 4 hours a day and watch what happens! Survey your market. Find out what they really want and what they‟re willing to pay for it before you create it. Why spend your hard-earned money developing products or services that might not sell. You‟ll save valuable time and be seen as a marketing genius in your niche. Build your expertise in the core product or service you’re offering. Invest in yourself and your business. Become a fanatic for learning faster and better about what drives your business and about what your clients and customers care about more than anything. Ignite your passion. If you‟re not passionate about what you‟re doing, find something else to do. It is called work for a reason, but if you passionately enjoy what you do, it seems easy and effortless in spite of the hours of work. Outsource your weaknesses. Quit trying to do everything. Stop doing things that you don‟t do well and focus on what makes you and your business unique and build on those strengths. Joint venture. This is the rocket fuel for your business. If you are good at networking, take your end plan and think about who you could partner with to get in front of people who have access to your ideal client. Figure out what you can offer them first, and then do that. Give and build a relationship on trust and mutual benefit. When the time is right, you will know when to suggest a joint venture that could benefit both of you. When you do this, you can double or triple your business in no time.

I‟m a Sydney based Internet marketer who quit full time employment almost two years ago to focus on marketing products and services on the internet. I market my own products and services and also those of others for a commission (called affiliate marketing). Most of my business models are semi passive so that they work while I don't.

So the question is… Can you REALLY make money online ? James how long have you been doing internet marketing?

What do you think of social media and do you use in your business and if so what for?

I started at the end of 2005 making this about 4.5 years

Social media is one of many marketing channels. I use it strategically for gathering information (research and feedback) and to connect to groups who can spread my message further. When you have some raving fans they will leverage and magnify your reach. Social media is another way to build authority and have controlled access to a fan base (or should we call that a 'like' base with the recent changes to facebook!). Where do you think the internet is heading is it growing or oversaturated?

Has the marketplace changed since you got started and if so in what way? There has been a dramtatic shift from what I call the 'wild west' goldrush days to the more mature social based marketing. Four years ago the pioneer internet marketers were using cheesy selling tactics like screaming red headlines, countdown timers and one way email selling. With the widespread use of social media (two way communication and the ability to spread feedback) we are seeing some of this stuff fade away in favor of more relationship based integrity selling. There is also a lot more use of video. (We love video Pam says!) Which do you believe is the EASIEST model for a NEWBIE to get started making an income online? The easiest method is to sell other peoples products as an affiliate. This can be done on a low budget and you do not need a payment collection method or customer service etc... You can hook into what is already selling and learn the ropes.

It has not even started compared to where it will be. Early days. We will move more to a scenario where every person is spending more time hooked into this network in many ways. Partly because we have more freedom than ever before to express ourselves and also partly because we are more dependent on this system than ever before! This was predicted by several business experts (like Peter Drucker who talked about the knowledge worker in the 60's). If you could predict the future what niches would you be telling your people to start researching?

What do you believe is a realistic income for a ‘non techy’ person online? I don't see a limit on this. You do not need to be techy. I'm pretty sure a lot of the wealthy marketers would struggle to build a website.

If your visitor is a women then you only have five seconds. And it doesn‟t just stop there. As the person reads down the page they are constantly judging whether to stay and read further or surf away to the next bright shiny object. Every element on your page should encourage them to hang around with the ultimate goal of conversion.

A point that most people (especially small businesses) miss out on when putting their web site together, is that they don‟t have a clear idea of the outcome that they want. To write good copy you must have a defined purpose in mind. The good internet marketers do this quite well. They have a page dedicated to a conversion (a sale of a product or the generation of a lead). Here are a couple of rules to follow to ensure that you give your website the best chance to convert. Have a specific goal in mind – What is it, that you want the reader to do?

Do Not distract – focus on your one and only goal. Do not give your reader a chance to click away. Do not have banners that advertise other products. Limit the use of colours and limit the use of fonts (Verdana and Arial are best). Use black text on white background although you can use a different colour for your sub-headline. Minimize the use of graphics and images. Video and audio can be great but use them intelligently. Never have music automatically play when a page is first loaded up, give people option to listen or not Page loads quickly - ensure that your page loads reasonably quickly. Navigation same spot - should appear at the same place on every page. Compelling headlines - your page should start with a headline packed with specific compelling benefits. Engaging sub headlines - should be the glue that connects the reader to the content that follows. Have a conversation - The text in the body should be a one to one conversation with your reader. Include an opt-in offer within the first fold (visible when you first open the screen without scrolling) . Sell with benefits – specifically transfer ownership – what are the benefits for them? Include testimonials – This is one of your most valuable selling tools Give a Money back guarantee .or tell them exactly how they can opt out should they want to some time in the future. Create added value with bonuses (Create urgency eg limited offers or rotating bonuses) Call to action - must have a clear call to action. Variable payment options Give them multiple ways to buy Add a P.S. at the bottom of the page (only for long sales letters or include PS in video or call to action)

Plus always make sure that there is an obvious way to contact you or your helpdesk. Finally, just after they have purchased, sell them something else at a significantly reduced price if they take action now. That second or even third offer should be complementary to the original product and have great perceived benefit to the reader. When done correctly your conversion rate will be huge but that is a whole other blog post.
