SEVEN NOTES 2010 DESIGN FUNDAMENTS Studio

The purpose of this project was to create a space that can express an “interior design” even though it’s not completely decorated and furnished. ¿Why seven notes? Music is based on seven musical notes, on the same way, architecture can be designed by using 7 interesting elements. These elements interact with each other to create a visually appealing space.

TEXTURE OF LIGHT 2011 ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS I Chapel The intervention of a new building in an existing complex needs to be designed carefully. The project needs to be able to understand the surrounding environment and users.

Surrounding Context

Intervention Area

2

The existing architectural context of the intervention area has some particular elements such as: columns, flat roofs and geometrical forms. The interaction between the interior and the exterior is fundamental because of the high flow of students walking by this area. The project site is surrounded by corridors. The west corridor has a continuous range of people passing through and the east corridor faces a quiet corridor full of trees.

ADAPTING TO THE CONTEXT Because of the term “Adaptation to the context this projects seeks to blend its facade by imitating the geometric forms and right angles of the site. On the inside the space is contained by curves made of translucent materials. The students can perceive two different atmospheres according to the place where they are standing. The simple facade allows the students to pass fluently around the chapel. In the interior the atmosphere transforms into a space with indirect light, soft forms and tranquility, fulfilling the needs of a space for reflexing.

All interior spaces have a direct access to the exterior without being overexposed, This was accomplished by placing courtyards and terraces for every specific room.

"HERNANDEZ" HOUSE The house maintains its privacy by the closed walls that make up the exterior facade. One main characteristic of the “Hernandez house” is the balance and connection between open and closed spaces. The main spaces such as living room, kitchen, dinner and bedroom have direct contact with the exterior even though they’re not located on the ground floor. South Facade

3 Two specific rooms where added to the project The social area included a living room. The client wanted this space to convey the Mexican styles. Like traditional vivid colors, materials and vegetation.

The spa needed light colors and materials like wood, onyx and stucco to transmit an atmosphere of peace.

45 SQUARE METERS 2011 ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS II Social Housing Contest

The challenge of the contest was to design a decent and well-designed house in a space of no more than 45 m2, in one day. According to the size of the family and to its possibilities of growth, the house needed to have the capacity to expand.

EDISONS POLYGON 2012 ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTS IV Urban Intervention In the city center of Monterrey there is an existnig problematic zone due to the heavy traffic crossing along the area. The avenue and the low quality exterior spaces have turn the zone into an insecure and unpleasant place.

The goal of this intervention is to improve the quality of exterior spaces for people living in the area. The avenue is an opportunity due to its communication to main roads and important places.

EDISON POLYGON The drainage of the Edison street will run through the center of it, so the people don’t get wet in case there are some water accumulations. The reforestation will need a special installation process so the trees grow the faster and the better without braking the sidewalks due to their heavy roots. Pipe Detail
