Information on Construction and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship Construction and maintenance electrician program is a certified trade in Canada, which means a person working in this trade must hold a valid qualification certificate and be registered as an apprentice. The certificate of qualification or the certificate of apprenticeship is given to individuals who successfully complete their apprenticeship program and pass the trade examination. Certified individuals can work as electricians in construction and maintenance field and can look forward to rewarding careers in the areas of service, installation, sales, repairs and design, depending upon their specific career interests. Electrician: Construction and Maintenance Program Requirements for both in-school apprenticeship curriculum and an Ontario College diploma are completed through a post-secondary program in construction and maintenance – electrical engineering technician. This is a unique program that provides interested individuals with solid grounding in engineering fundamentals, lab experience and job experience in a paid co-op placement. The two-year program trains students in: 

Electronics

AutoCAD

Network and Adv Control System

Prints

Power Generation and Distribution

Ethics in Technology and Environment The program helps students obtain a thorough grounding in electrical engineering sciences and skills, including electrical circuits, maintenance of electrical instruments or devices, operation of electrical motors and power transmission.

Apart from this, it also includes a co-op placement component through which students get an opportunity to work with a company and gain real world work experience. This not only helps them in applying their learning into practice but also helps in gaining relevant industry contacts that can be used in future as references. Secondary school diploma certificate or equivalent

Required minimum scores in English Grade 12 C or University, or equivalent

Required minimum scores in Math Grade 11 M or 12 C or University, or equivalent

In addition, they are also required to: 

Complete a questionnaire to assess co-op employability

Be eligible to work as an apprenticeship in Ontario

Present a credential evaluation by an independent organization, if educated outside of Canada

Studying Construction and Maintenance Electrician Program in Ontario Numerous colleges across Ontario offer apprenticeship courses in the areas of construction and maintenance engineering.
