Student-Centered Computer Systems Technology Networking Offers Various Exit Points Building on the ever-growing innovations of the digital revolution, computer networking training at Centennial College prepares students for the field with a three-year advanced diploma. There is a continuous need for computer systems technologists, field service representatives, network technologists, network technical support specialists, help desk support, LAN support and LAN administrators - all roles for which graduates of the Computer Systems Technology - Networking are prepared. A Canadian Technology Accreditation Board-accredited program, Computer Systems Technology – Networking focuses on technical problem solving through hands-on lab work. Studying in specialized labs at the college’s largest location, Progress Campus, students are able to train by doing, which is beneficial when learning about operating systems as well as configuring and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks to have full control of the computing and communicating technology. Should students choose the optional co-op component (program #3415), they further enhance their education by working three terms as paid employees in the field. The experience serves two purposes: allowing students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations and building professional relationships that may benefit them as they begin their careers. Because the Computer Systems Technology - Networking program is very student-centered, exit points are available to qualified students after one year (resulting in a CRAM certificate) and two years (resulting in a Technician diploma). Once they complete every computer networking course, graduates are in the position to pursue industry standard certifications such as Comptia A+, Net+, iNet, Cisco CCNA, Novell CNE, Microsoft Win2000 Professional and Server.
