ORIENTAL has temporarily closed for a multi-milliondollar transformation, with plans to reopen in September 2023. e 527-room hotel first opened in the city-state’s Marina Bay Area in 1987, located in a building designed by architect John C Portman. e renovation by interior design firm, Design Wilkes, will be across all fronts and include a redesign and refitting of the lobby, rooms and F&B venues. Mandarin Oriental says that the hotel’s social media platforms will feature content throughout the six months honouring the hotel’s legacy, new and longterm employees and peeks at the transformation process.
