As part of our dedication to sustainability, we focus on making a positive impact and advocating for environmental, social and economic responsibility under the guidance of Uniworld’s Sustainability Officer, Julie Higgins. 01

Climate Action

We have conducted comprehensive measurements of our emissions in order to understand and reduce our carbon footprint, all a part of ou r end goal to achieve net zero. On our way to a low-emissions economy, we’re supporting nature-based carbon removal solutions through our TreadRight Foundation We are also committed to reducing food waste by 50% and to sourcing at least 50% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2025. 02

SINGLE-USE PLASTICS ELIMINATION INITIATIVE

We’re setting our sights on a plastic-free future. We’re in the process of banning more than 60 types of single-use plastics-including straws, water bottles and bags-across all operations. We are constantly working with our suppliers to avoid plastic wrapping on goods and find more ways to eliminate waste onboard.

Leanpath

Food waste is one of the largest contributors to climate change, so we’ve partnered with a food waste management company, Leanpath, to reduce our carbon footprint. Their system measures how much food gets discarded after every meal onboard. With the precise measurements it will provide us, our chefs will have the data and confidence necessary to make the perfect amount of each dish. We are always working to increase our local and organic food suppliers, for the freshest and most sustainable cuisine onboard.

MAKE TRAVEL MATTER ® EXPERIENCES

Uniworld introduced MAKE TRAVEL MATTER ® Experiences to several of our incredible trips and itineraries. As a company of travel lovers, we know how to craft a unique and impactful travel experience that also benefits the places we explore. When you choose one of these experiences, you directly advance global efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.
