+The project is a gut renovation in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. +The client’s request was to divide the property in three different units. One rental two bedroom’s unit in the parlor level; an Air B&B studio unit in the basement; and his own apartement in the two upper floors. +A circulation core aligned with both the front and back doors distributes the users to the different units, and provide natural lighting and ventilation to the owner’s apartment.

A new boutique hotel to be placed on an existing industrial building. With only 7,500 sq. allowed as buildable area and 28 rooms requested by the developer, the building is modular, single loaded corridor with 8 units per floor, public areas on the ground floor, and a roof top bar.

The floor plate morphology is defined by the solar geometry and predominant air flows
OBJECTIVES +The proposed concept was the “Dappled Tower”, after analyzing the morphology, the energy flows and ecosystem behavior of a tropical rain forest. +The geometry of the floor plate funnels the air flow to reduce the indoor mean temperature and to reduce the humidity at night time.

The program was organized around a central courtyard. This arrangement allows natural ventilation and light to all rooms.
The Academy, is dedicated to train local officers to fight the “War against poppy� in one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Every single aspect of the project, from massing, geometry, circulations and the structural design were taking into account all different security risks scenarios.

The project was design using ONE SINGLE structural module, and rearranged to meet the program requirements. The project includes administration, academy building, dormitories and two conference halls, interconected in diferent levels depending the user’s security clearance.

DISPLAY ROOM COUNTER NARCOTICS ACADEMY International Organization for Migration IOM Afghanistan PROJECT +Total Area: 900 Sq. Ft. +Completion: January 2012 +Client: United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime UNODC and the Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan The 900 sq. ft. room was designed to exhibit ordinary-seeming objects used to smuggle drugs outside the country. The building includes an exposition area and a projection room.
The allocated lot, was a residual space between two existing classrooms; therefore the Display room had to interact with the structural, site and security conditions.
