Pattaya is one of the most attractive Thailand’s destination for tourists across the world, hundreds of thousands of visitors are drawneachyeartoPattaya.Thenumerouscrowdwhichstimulate economy also bring about great challenges. Pattaya city accommodate over 120,000 residents alone, which when include touriststhroughouttheyear,accountedtobeoneofthecitythat has highest population density rate. This lead to the social disorganizationandresidentialinstabilityissuessuchastrafficjam, public security and crime, Pollution issue, extension rate of infectious diseases. In fact, during the COVID-19 pandemic, PattayaisthecitywithoneofthehighestinfectedcasesinThailand. Anotherbigissueisslowandineffectivecommunicationbetween municipality office and its citizen. These issues are common especiallyforthetouristattractionarea.

With the different aspect of the issues, we design the Smart City solution that tackle challenges from different approaches. First, the eyes of the city were open in order to enable its vision, over 200 cameras were deployed on the so-called “Smart Pole” providing360degreecinematicviewthecity. Secondly,thearmsandlegswereextended,on the Smart Pole additional devices were installed to tackle the issue such as environmental sensors to monitor pollution, temperature,airhumidityandothervaluein the vicinity. LED screen were installed to display information and announcement from municipality office, even local business advertisement. The speaker for public announcement and SOS emergency call button that direct call to police station. Thirdly,thecitybrainwasactivated.

The Artificial Intelligent (AI) Technology enable a wide range of feature to facilitate the solution such as traffic density tracking and traffic rules violation to help municipality better managing cities’ transportation and enforce traffic regulation. Facial recognition, License plate recognition, Vehicle identity (Color, brand, type) and even feature like geo-fencing, motion detection, fire detection to increase to increase public safety. During the pandemic, the AI was customized to detect social distancing violation in public area. Furthermore,Free-WiFiservicearealsoprovided.

These Smart Pole were installed across the city and were managed by Intelligent Operation Center (IOC) providing full control of each pole and devices on it. From controlling the light to data analytic from each pole’s sensor or devices, the IOC platform enable simpleyeteffectivemanagementsystem.
