MARKETWRAP Sensex up by 0.90%@20128.41pts,Nifty up by 1.08%@6038.05pts resp. European indices DAX down 0.05%, FTSE & CAC were up by 0.16% to0.33%. NASDAQ was up by 0.32%, Dow Jones Ind. Avg. was up by 0.12% resp. Sensex up by 179.68pts@ 20128.41 & Nifty close up by 64.75pts@ 6038.05. The BSE Sensex rose nearly 1 percent on Thursday to close at its highest in 1-1/2 months after Axis Bank surged on better-than-expected June-quarter results, sparking a rally in other banking stocks as well. The government's decision to remove the foreign direct investment limit in the telecom sector will help reduce leverage and strengthen balance sheets in the medium term.
