Georgia Armed Security Officers Training
This course prepares students for security jobs requiring weapons training as a mandatory skill component for employment. After completion of the 24 Security Officers' training an additional sixteen (16) additional hours are committed to instruction that achieves Georgia Board of Private Detective & Security Agencies rules governing licensing requirements for armed security personnel. Credentials earned at course completion are recognized throughout the State of Georgia and inform employers that the participant has completed classroom and live fire instruction required by the State of Georgia.

• Understand the Secretary of State’s key requirements for carrying and working with a firearm
• Understand basic firearm safety
• Understand how to maintain Range Safety
• Understand why we own firearms
• Understand brief moments in Firearms History
• Understand firearm liability
• Understand your firearm and how it works
• Understand some key considerations for selecting a firearm
• Understand some key considerations for selecting a holster
• Understand how bullets work and different performance characteristics
• Understand the Fundamentals of Pistol Marksmanship
• Understand the two leading theories on stopping power & shot Placement
• Understand the importance of maintaining continuity of fire
• Understand safe handling techniques for misfires, failure to fire, failure to eject etc.
• Understand critical Georgia’s firearm codes
• Be able to transfer the concepts to the range (live firing)
This course is designed to meet and exceed the armed security officers training requirements as established by the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agency.
