Illegal private school ordered to close by Dumisani Hlatswayo

M

arvelous Christian School, an independent school in the Teanong section, has been ordered to close. This follows numerous attempts by concerned parents to get the registration number of the school from the principal. Two months ago, one of the parents told The Olifants News that she became suspicious after noticing that all letters and reports issued by the school didn't contain a registration number. Fast forward to 14th February 2021, Marvellous Christian School issues a statement informing parents that the school will be closing down. “We regret to inform you that Marvelous Independent Christian School has been advised to discontinue all operations for the year 2021, therefore, we will not be offering any classes. Please contact the school for more details,” announces the statement seen by The Olifants News. Numerous attempts to verify the statement with the principal of the school failed as all calls went straight to voicemail. One of the parents says they were told that the school still needs to be registered. According to this parent who requested not to remain

Meet the man who will fit good tires on your car by Dumisani Hlatswayo

Taking care of your health means seeking medical care when you need it. Delaying treatment can have a detrimental effect on your wellbeing. The sooner you get treated, the better the outcome. eplacing old tires is one of the essential things for every car owner. However, not everyone is capable of helping to choose the right set of tires for your car. Fit in the wrong tires, you risk fouling the suspension, which may affect the brake calipers and have an adverse impact on the steering and handling of your car. One person who knows more about tires is Simon Mayeso. Mayeso is the founder of Yexisani Trading and Project, a fledgling company that sells brand new and second tires in Tswelopele. Mayeso said he has been charting his own course since 2014. When he started he was alone. However, he recently decided to hire an assistant to help him manage things around the workshop. According to Mayeso, being his own boss came with significant challenges. “The biggest challenge that I am facing right now is with regard to sourcing affordable stock. For instance, when I buy brand new tires, I pay a lot of money, which means when I add a markup I’ll end overcharging my customers,” he revealed. Mayeso’s advice to people who would like to start a business is to broaden their knowledge. He said it’s crucial for entrepreneurs to acquire skills before starting their own businesses. “I also want to go back to school to learn more about running a business,” he said. “My dream is to see my business expanding and employing more people,” he explained. As South Africa continues to battle challenges associated with the coronavirus pandemic, entrepreneurs like Mayeso have to be innovative to keep their businesses running. “Covid-19 has forced some of my clients to come begging me to sell tires to them at a lesser price. I understood their situation as I was also struggling to pay my car installments,” Mayeso said. He said during his journey as a budding entrepreneur he learned invaluable lessons.

Two men in custody for possession of hijacked car by Dumisani Hlatswayo

T

he station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has thanked the local community of Extension Three, Ivory Park, whose tip-off led the police to the arrest of two men for possession of a hijacked vehicle. Members of the Ivory Park SAPS crime prevention, acting on the information provided, descended on an address at Extension Three where a vehicle suspected to have arrived under questionable circumstances was seen. Upon their arrival and having introduced themselves, the officers found the two suspects, aged 26 and 44, busy stripping up a vehicle under the guise of fixing it. two claimed to have been fixing the car for a customer whose name and other details they couldn’t provide. Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the vehicle was reported hijacked earlier in the day by its owner. It was hijacked at gunpoint by robots along the Republic Road, by two balaclava-clad men. The two were brought to the police station for detention and are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate court soon to face a charge of possession of a suspected hijacked vehicle. “We are very grateful that someone in the community gave us a tip-off on something that looked suspicious and our quick reaction has shown that the community member was on point. We truly appreciate these gestures from the community,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.

All you need to know before selling your home

PUZZLE SOLUTION

By William Docherty

S

o want to sell your Home for the highest possible price, in the quickest time with the least amount of fuss? Here are some advice and tips that I have learnt over the years to ensure you achieve this. First, and the most obvious, is the Asking Price. • If you make the Price too high it will never sell and the Buyers will just go elsewhere. Buyers are very aware of how much a property is worth as they have access to the Internet and many do their Homework • Ask your Estate Agent for a CMA (Comparative Market Analysis) which lists what Properties are for sale in your Area (your Competition), how much similar Properties have sold for and overpriced Properties that did not sell. • Remember, just because you are buying in Sandton does not mean your house here can sell for Sandton prices! • The correct Selling Price is the most important part of the Selling process, by making sure the Asking Price is correct you can start your new Chapter of your life as sooner than later.

Secondly, make sure your home is shown to potential Buyers in its very best condition. • Keep the house and the garden tidy • Put clothes and toys away • Make beds and open curtains • Wash dishes and keep Kitchen & Bathrooms tidy. • If you have some spare paint you can touch up the walls and corners that look a bit untidy. • TIP: Tie up your Dogs or put them in an outside room, many Buyers are scared of Dogs. • TIP: Put your valuables in a cupboard/ drawer/ safe before the Buyers arrive, you can never be too safe!

William Docherty

Thirdly, use a reputable Estate Agency: • Pick an agent based upon their history of success and their marketing plan, not based on the highest price they say they can sell your house for. • To work legally in SA an Estate Agent MUST have a valid ‘Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC)’. This is to protect you. • TIP: Check if they are a legitimate agent by calling the Estate Agency Affairs Board on 087 285 3222. Give them the Agents name and if they do not have a FFC then do not deal with them! With a little work and effort you will be able to achieve the best Price possible for your home. Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions williamd@remax.net.

olani Nkala, from the Mthabeka section, shares his story of playing football in the SA’s professional leagues. The Mamelodi Sundowns reserves (M.Tigers sundowns) winger has played for some of the big teams in professional leagues. At age 23 he was already playing for Mbombela United in the GladAfrica Champonship, then National First Division. Nkala was raised just like any other township kid, through the support and strictness of his mother he turned out to be different. Nicknamed ‘Blackberry and Baba D’, Nkala kick-started his career by playing for a local team, Rangers FC. According to Nkala, his detractors often called ‘inkomo’ in the field when he first started taking the interest in sports. “I was introduced to the sports by my elder brother Fanyana Prince Nkala,

soon I befriended a lot of people and gained popularity amongst my peers, I slowly became confident when I now had the ball,” said Nkala. Raised by a single parent he said growing up was not easy but he liked the fact that his mother supported him through and through. “My mother has supported me, when I was down she picked me up and told me to go get what I want, she has been there for me during my up’s and down’s,” added Nkala. This exciting player to watch play, was also once at Pretoria Callies (Now playing at NFD), another ABC Motsepe League side by then, but later he was clubless. During that period he was called to join NC Zasco for The Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge Tournament. Nkala said he had hopes that there could be a team to spot him and help him revive his career. “After the tournament I went to trial with Mbombela United, an NFD side by then,” added Nkala.

“I had two seasons with Mbombela United but my contract was not renewed. I had two exciting years of my life, what happened during my time at Mbombela United was that I lacked hard work. I thought I have now made it forgetting I had to put in more work twice as before,” he explained. “Over the past years I have learnt a lot and gained experience, I now understand what it means to be at every team’s starting eleven. Although he might have tasted success, he said he still believed one day he would make it to the Mamelodi Sundowns first team in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). “My biggest dream is to play in the Premiere Soccer League for Mamelodi Sundowns, It gets exciting to watch the big boys play at the venue in Chloorkop,” said Nkala. Nkala had just celebrated his 25th birthday last month in January, and he also looks forward to following his passion and living his dream of playing football.
