our men are expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court on Friday (12-March 2021) following their arrest in Ivory Park’s Extension Two on Thursday for possession of robbed goods. The property they were found in possession of was robbed earlier on Thursday from a courier company vehicle in Johannesburg. The four suspects, whose ages range from 29 to 44, were arrested by the Gauteng Highway Patrol at Extension two after they were found offloading the items at an address in the area. While on their routine duties, the officers received information that a blue Kombi was seen offloading the properties. On their arrival, the officers found the men busy. One of the suspects managed to flee the scene. Among some of the items found were eight different makes of cell phones,
shoes, and t-shirts. They were shortly identified as some of the items taken during the robbery in Johannesburg by a group of men travelling in two vehicles. The Kombi used to offload was also confiscated. The hunt for other suspects is underway, and the four will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of possession of stolen goods. The acting station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Colonel Baba Mpotoane, has welcomed this arrest and is fully confident that his detectives will successfully hunt and find some of the outstanding suspects. “This arrest should serve as a warning to other Ivory Park-based criminals that this place is a hideout place for criminals and criminal activity. The long arm of the law will always catch up with them as it did with this four and the other two early this week,” said Colonel Mpotoane.
he equipment rental business is still predominantly run by white males in South Africa. It is dominated by a handful of large corporations that are competing against small players. Rakgadi Motloba is one of few women who is revolutionising the industry, realised this. The former teacher and trailblazer come with a wealth of experience. She has worked as a teacher, PR, and events specialist, to name but a few. Upon realising that there were no black female entrepreneurs in the equipment hire business, Motloba decided to start her own business. Thanks to her impeccable academic background, starting was a breeze. “As I was working for Development Bank Of Southern Africa as an executive events coordinator, I then started the company by sourcing out equipment hire while I was still working there,” Motloba recalls. “Starting my business has been easy because I had the intellectual capital of how to generate money from the experience that I have,” she continues. Motloba started her company from her townhouse, in Clayville East. Initially, her business offered only catering, then she used all the proceeds to invest in her equipment hire business. Five years later, Motloba’s company moved to a spacious warehouse in Olifantsfontein, which her company bought. “The issue of funding was never

a barrier to me because I have not even gone to a bank to request money for starting my company,” Motloba explains. Motloba’s company, RPM Events and Decor Company was founded in 2013. Before Covid-19 hit, her company had a staff complement of 15 staff members from various backgrounds. She says her team has now been reduced to eight. RPM Events’ head office is based at Olifantsfontein in
Midrand, but they have another branch in Pretoria. The company offers an array of services ranging from the smallest social event to the largest corporate events. They provide Project Management Services; Catering Services; Equipment Hire Services; Canteen, Food Supply and Provision Services as well as the Audio Visual Equipment Hire Services. Democratic Of Congo, Denewade's family migrated to Joburg when he was only 6 years old. “Growing up in Joburg was tough. We had to move from house to house,” Denwade tells The Olifants News. According to Denwade, he had to adapt to the hustle and bustle of the city. “Throughout that experience, my talent in music emerged. From a young age of 12, I started playing drums in a local church in Berea. That somehow grounded me. And the transition of understanding my spiritual being helped me to deal with my physical being as well,” Denwade recalls. In 2010, Denwade launched his solo career in music, and since then he never looked back. He started out as a gospel artist and later drifted to other genres as well. He is one artist who likes to have a very open mind about taking influences from multiple genres and styles “I try not to box myself in a genre. I started off as a gospel artist, and today I do hip-hop, Afropop, love songs, you name it. I had to think how to infiltrate mainstream music and not sound biased,” he says. Denwade is quick to point out that Jesus preached the gospel beyond the walls of a church, so believes this is the only way to preach the gospel. He says, “Hiphop is the main vehicle of how I am pushing my music. But I have love songs, Afropop, dancehall, and some R&B,” he continues. Denwade reveals that he is currently working on an afro piano song, and has so far recorded an EP, and one album.

Like his comrade, Mphahlele is facing the same predicament of having to play his first professional match in Durban, unlike his brother; Mphahlele will be fighting at Featherweight (57kg). “At first I was playing soccer but later changed to boxing, I find this sport exciting and I never stopped since 2015,” said Mphahlele. “I turned professional since 2018 but I never had a fight on that level, this match gives me glitters thouh I believe in myself. Thembisa licensing hub opens its door to the public
T
he Thembisa licensing hub in Thembisa will be opening its doors to the public. This has been confirmed by the Ekurhuleni Municipality on Friday the 12th of March, 2021. According to the City, the facility boasts a comprehensive and ground-breaking basket of services for prospective learner drivers as well as owners of motor vehicles in the area. The facility is a first of its kind in Ekurhuleni that is a one-stopshop offering a slew of services ranging from motor vehicle registration, learner and driver’s licence as well as motor vehicle testing centre in one yard. “We are happy that the hub has now opened its doors for services to the public rendering an array of services. If members of the public wish to renew licence for their vehicles, register vehicles, change ownership of vehicles, deregister vehicles, change personal details
of vehicles and apply for Business Registration Numbers and Traffic Register Certificates, they can now come to the hub for full assistance,” said Frans Mmoko, Member of Mayoral Committee for Community Safety in the City of Ekurhuleni. “Our approach to rendering a full bouquet of services at the facility will come in phases as we prepare other logistics required to fully run all services in the hub. “From 1 April 2021 we will start to offer learner’s and driver’s licence services for those who wish to be tested in this facility. “We want to ensure that by October 2021 we have a hub that will be offering full services to the public. By this time we have planned to have our Vehicle Testing Station fully operational for local motorists who wish to have their vehicles tested on our ground,” concluded Mmoko.
