In the closing years of the 19th century, The United States of America stood before the world as a divided nation in the ruins of a deadly civil war. After years of tragedy and hardship, it was time for the states to turn a new leaf and start a new chapter of prosperity. To accomplish such, America's greatest minds were assembled to construct a fair so magnificent, it would not only usher in a new age of American civilization. but establish the foundation of the urban world. The finished project became known as the White City. This venue for the World's Columbian Exposition left a multitude of positive and negative impacts on the social, political and economic scale. Socially, this event introduced the foundation of the modern American living and lifestyles. Politically, the 1893 Columbian Exposition put TheUnited States on the map. While economically, the Fair had succeeded at the cost of cultivating a new rise in crime and fraudulent activity. Although it barely turned a profit, finance was one of many factors in determining whether the Fair truly was the transitional event sparking the rise of a global superpower. In summary, the 1893 Columbian Exposition to a significant extent was a watershed event in US history providing a blueprint for a global superpower entering the 20th century.

Calling it REN–script, Ren has created what he calls a calligraphy and linguistic "experimentale." Consisting of seven English and six French pieces, he has combined the art and beauty of calligraphy with writing of equal stature. In ten of his pieces he elaborates on the beauty of nature during various seasons and includes a complete verse from the Book of Genesis. The rest of the pieces are large single word depictions again in calligraphy with intricate detail. REN–script is definitely the turning point of this art exposition. The use of words by the artist in the poems is lyrical and actually puts you in the place being described. I did not always know what public health was, mainly because it was not an apparent career path in my community. However, even without knowing what to call it, I witnessed how the lack of public health in my mother's life was a hinderance to her success. The presence of a sex education program would have been the difference between my mother graduating from high school or becoming a teenage mother. In my community, I observed the presence of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) clinics helping teenagers after they are mothers, but there was a lack of educational resources to prevent the occurrence of unplanned teenage pregnancy all together. This lack of resources influenced my participation in Peer Health Exchange (PHE) during college. This organization provided public health education to teenagers from low income backgrounds, which ultimately lowered their risk of unwanted health outcomes. During my time at PHE, I learned that communities of low socioeconomic backgrounds still experienced high rates of health issues despite having qualified physicians available to them. This was especially the exhibited scenario in my own community, which mostly consisted of immigrants. The community's system of reparative health care, in which patients were primarily given treatment after diagnosis, was not effective at lowering their negative health outcomes. These communities lacked holistic interventions that would enable them to have complete physical, mental, and social well–being.

Since the beginning of time people have found great interest in the study of mythology and its origin. For the past five weeks I have been studying this deep and complex issue and have come to the conclusion that without myths history would not be the same. I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in mywriting. I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. The exhibit I visited was at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, the exhibit was called The Art of the Americas Wing. The exhibit itself had various painting of famous figures and art pieces about the time period dated back from the American Colonies to modern day art pieces. I felt that all of the pieces in this exhibit were meaningful and there was a sense of history and pride in the way the exhibit was set up. Each piece of art were unique on its own and just standing near the piece for a short time and watching the different people walk by and look at it, the reactions were unanimous.

In Watson and the Shark, when I first set eyes on the featured painting I thought it was something to do with Herman Melville's characters, Moby Dick and Captain Ahab. Of course that is not the case. In the text next to the painting it explained the true meaning of the piece. Drawn by John Singleton Copley, the painting depicts the story of a London Merchant Brook Watson's trauma at age fourteen of being a victim of a shark attack off Havana, Cuba, an experience that cost the former cabin boy his leg. Copley portrays the third rescue attempt by nearby sailors, glorifying it as a story of salvation and spiritual rebirth. It is unclear whether if Copley referencing both Christ's Resurrection as well as the renewal of the British Empire in the aftermath of the American Revolution, in the visual image of Watson emerging from the watery depths. Theme Statement of Book Believers have been unified in salvation by grace and are called to live like Christ. Main Idea of Passage At one point in time, everyone lived as a sinner. But God chose to save them through grace. Believers should respond in good works.

I was able to engage my audience even more with the activity which I would say was a better improvement than last exhibition. I will be able to do this by finishing my exhibition early so I have time to practice and practice. I also want to procrastinate less when I'm making my exhibition, so my plan to achieve this is by making a day planner. Another challenge I'd like to do is to continue to try and make more activities so I'm able to present a more engaging exhibition just like this one. Just so my exhibition doesn't end up being boring but even more engaging for my audience, just so they have something to do rather than me just talking. I'd say that from my Term 1 Exhibition to now, I was able toimprove a lot more in those areas I said in my term 1 reflection. I was able to manage well better now compared to both my first and second exhibitions, this exhibition I was able to finish a week before. A World's Fair is an "[I]nternational exposition that features exhibits dealing with commerce, industry, and science." (World Book Encyclopedia 412) Entertainment is also present along with cultural activities. In 1893, the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, although inaugurated a year late, commemorated the discovery of America. I feel that theExposition displayed some of the more beautiful architecture of its time; its immense buildings and sculptures drew heavily from Greek and other classical styles, and it could possible be because of the sweeping popularity in Beaux Arts architecture.

"In keeping with the custom of its famous designers, the building was in classical style with the noteworthy feature of a sixty–four foot wide entrance flanked by mammoth Corinthian columns fifty feet high and five in diameter." (Burg 128) In the middle of the building there was a large dome; the Romans were the first to create and use domes. Both Greek and Roman ideas were incorporated into this building.

William Shakespeare's Hamlet is an excellently written dramatic tragedy, that when analyzed well, is a dynamically diverse piece of literature. Hamlet is an ideal play for analyzing, with much exposition, clear stasis and intrusion, good use of theatrical elements, suspenseful forwards, and multiple cause and effect triggers and heaps. The exposition in Hamlet is in constant development throughout act I, scenes i and ii, as the characters, in a natural way, give the audience information about the current state of Denmark. From the first scene of act I, it is revealed that the characters Horatio, Bernardo, Francisco, and Marcellus, are guards for the palace in Denmark. As they speak, the audience realizes that for the last few nights an apparition has been appearing at the same time every night, midnight, the time when the play begins. More exposition is then revealed through Horatio as he speaks about the ghost and it's possible relationship to the previous war against Norway, as well as the effects the war had on the characters present. Throughout her speech, Florence Kelly uses her diction to create imagery and convey her point. An example of this in Kelly's speech is lines 18–22 where she says " Tonight while we sleep, several thousand little girls will be working in textile mills, all night through, in the deafening noise of the spindles and the looms spinning and weaving cotton and wool, silks and ribbons for us to buy."(Kelly, 10). With attention to the word choice, Florence Kelly creates an image of a small girl working long into the night, making goods for people to buy, while the adults are at home sleeping in their beds. Through the example of the girls reaching for a bobbin on the tall shelf, the author is able to incorporate the reader by making them think of past experiences similar to that given. She is able to make the audience relate to that character and in turn feel for that character. With the use of a few well thought out words, Kelly is able to prey on the audience's emotions and persuade them to her side. An additional occurrence of imagery in the speech is in lines 46–54 when she says, "In Pennsylvania, until last May it was lawful for children, 13 years of age, to work twelve hours at night. A little girl, on her thirteenth birthday, could start away from her home at half past five in the afternoon,........and could work in the mill from six at night until six in the morning, without violating any law of the Commonwealth."
