Custom Ordering Process Consultation
We love to talk. Over the phone, through email, or in person, we would love to talk to you about your needs and ideas. Feel free to look through the gallery and read through our list of options for customization. Our goal is to find out what you are looking for and to give you a rough idea of what we can offer you. Together we will come up with a basic idea.
Design Process Begins
Once you have decided to work with us, the real fun begins. While we are happy to discuss any ideas, meet with you, show you samples or give a price quote; prior to starting the actual custom design process we will bill you a $120 non-refundable design fee. The $120 fee will then be applied towards the final cost of your order and is actually not an additional cost to you. This fee is simply to protect and preserve the integrity of our original designs and for time spent working up initial layouts. At this point we will come up with 2 - 3 digital mock-ups for your approval. You can give us feedback and we will make any appropriate changes. For every $200 of your order you will receive one hour of custom design time. Any hours needed beyond the allotted hours will incur a charge of $70 per hour. (Most times, additional hours are not needed – we will also let you know ahead of time if this seems necessary.) All fees can be paid via credit card, check, money order or PayPal.
Pricing & Contract
Upon approval of your design, we will send you a final, detailed estimate along with a copy of the contract. From there we request that you return a signed copy of the contract along with a 50% deposit of the balance less the $120 design fee. This can be paid via check, money order, credit card or Pay Pal. The deposit enables us to begin ordering paper, ribbons, etc for your invitations.
Client Approval
Prior to production, you will be sent a final proof for your inspection. You will be asked to carefully inspect the proof for any errors in spelling, wording or other. Once you give us the final approval, changes cannot be made.
Production
We will order supplies, coordinate printing, and assemble your invitations. Depending on our schedule and the size of your order, this may take some time, from two to four weeks.
Final Payment & Shipping
At time of delivery, the remaining balance is due plus shipping charges. After final payment is made, we will carefully package and ship your order. Our standard shipping is UPS Ground (including insurance) but we are happy to ship with your preferred method.
Tax
Illinois residents will be charged 8.75% tax on your order.
Returns & Cancellations
All sales are final. Once your invitations have gone into production, a refund cannot be given. If you cancel prior to the final proofing, you will not be refunded your initial $120 design fee. Any cancellations made after supplies have been ordered may not be refunded.
Paper Options Crane Lettra™ Paper (HOUSE STOCK)
Crane & Co., the paper & stationery powerhouse has developed a line of fine papers exclusively for letterpress printing. This 100% cotton, archival paper is thick yet soft and holds an impression beautifully. The paper is 300 gsm (110#) and feels soft to the touch. This paper is also tree-free. Harvesting tree-free fibers doesn’t disrupt natural eco-systems and requires less energy and chemicals than processing wood-based papers.
We carry the Pearl shade which is a neutral, soft white and has been described as “whipped cream”. Two other color options are available but may incur a slight up charge.
Fluorescent White Imagine a crisp, white linen sheet. A nice, clean, stark white. (This is the brightest white of the three)
Ecru A very buttery yellow & much warmer than the others. Like a nice glass of bubbly champagne.
PAPER OPTION B Crane Palette Our second option is a new line of paper from Crane called Crane’s Palette. This is another 100% cotton option that includes a rich selection of colors, weights, and finishes such as these below with even more available.
PAPER OPTION C French Paper Company
Looking for some color? You can't go wrong with a paper from French. They are the oldest, independent paper mill in America, producing some of the most wonderful colors out there. All of their papers have a wonderfully smooth surface and with a lighter weight (80# & 100# cover) they are more suitable for folding or for layering onto a colored stock. PAPER OPTION D (upgrade) Handmade Porridge Papers
If you want an invitation that not only looks good but also feels (and smells) good, then this is the paper for you. Porridge Papers is a small, indie paper mill in Nebraska. In addition to making gorgeous lines of paper, they can also custom make paper in a particular color and can even add scents to their papers. Imagine a peppermint scented invite for a Christmas wedding…or a baby powder-scented birth announcement. Having a summer affair? We can have a paper made that has actual flower seeds embedded into it. What a great way for your guests to recycle your invitation.. plant it! This paper is considered an upgrade and will incur a minimum 20% up charge.

PCW = post consumer waste (paper collected from end-users and recycled - the truest form of recycled paper available) FSC = Forest Stewardship Council certified sustainably harvested virgin paper. PCF = process chlorine free (indicates that fiber is recycled and is unbleached or bleached without the use of additional chlorine or chlorine derivatives.) ECF = elemental chlorine free (indicates virgin or recycled fiber bleached with chlorine dioxide or other chlorine compounds. This is a cleaner process than chlorine gas bleaching, however this process still creates environmentally hazardous toxins.)
Typefaces While we have over 2000 fonts available to us, we have selected our top 80 or so that would look lovely on any stationery. You may use any of these typefaces to create a more personalized invitation to fit your style or mood. Also, if you have a specific font in mind that you do not see here, we can try to source it for you.
