on location in Carnation, WA photo by Anna Dianich
HELLO, SALUT, GOD DAG, ࡇࢇࡕࡣ ... When I decided to shoot this collection in Carnation, Washington, I had no idea what an absolute treat I was in for. I had been following the progress of the yarn store being built by Anna Dianich, who lives on a farm in Carnation with her husband and children. All I knew was that her store looked like it was going to be amazing (quick side note: Tolt Yarn and Wool in Carnation is opening on November 9th, 2013!) and from the photos she shared online, her farm looked amazing as well. I tentatively sent her an email about this seed of an idea I had; how would she feel if I came to shoot my collection on her farm? As it turns out, not only was Anna happy to invite me to her farm, but she took me around to the farms of several friends and neighbors to see if their beautiful pieces of land might also be suitable locations. I cannot say enough how grateful I am to the incredibly welcoming people in Carnation who opened up their homes to me, who let me and my models work around their homes and with their animals. Nicer people you will not meet. I want to thank Anna for her heart and her endless enthusiasm and help. She gave me the means to create something really beautiful, and I couldn’t have done it without her. A full list of thank-yous can be found at the back of this lookbook, but I also want to thank you, the knitter, or even just the casual onlooker, for taking the time to see what I’ve put together. I’m very proud of this collection, and I hope you like it as much as I do.

WITH MANY THANKS Releasing a collection is no small task, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help and support of many people. Thank you to Anna Dianich, Shelley McCanna (and River the Fjord horse), Janya Veranth, and the city of Carnation for your amazing hospitality. Your city is beautiful inside and out. Thank you to my beautiful models, Gretchen Walla and Kathleen Tarrant, who made the photoshoots easy. Takk fyrir to Cirilia Rose for your friendship, guidance, and inspiration. Huge thanks to Skacel Collection, Inc. for providing yarn support for Nikoline, Elskling, and Acorn Teeth, and partial yarn support for Moon Pulls. Thank you to my friends and family for all of your love and support. Last but not least, I feel immense gratitude to the knitters who like what I do enough to use their creativity and talent to turn it into something amazing of their own. I really couldn’t do this without you.
