Persuasive speaking is an ability or skill that allows a person to focus and change another person's behavior and thoughts. At its very outset, persuasive speaking focuses on the ability of one person to impact and change another person's beliefs through simple yet effective communication. Persuasion helps a person to accomplish various objectives in whatever situation they are in. Hence it absolutely doesn't matter what field you are in. Persuasion process will help you accomplish your goals because it will boost your interaction with related people. Persuasion and behavioral changes People frequently feel the need to change other person's behavior. Behavioral change is the ultimate possible accomplishment when you are practice persuasive speech. If a person responds to behavioral change, that simply means you were successful to alter both, their thoughts and emotions attached to your intention that you spoke about. So how do we attempt and achieve behavioral change to start with? It is ridiculous to force people to change their behavior just because we need them to. People have their own sets of whims, fancies, beliefs and value systems. It is difficult to change what they are going to hold on to & what they believe in because that is how the human mind works. People resist to any form of changes because the mind connects change with instability, insecurity and chaos. From an evolutionary perspective, change is not good for survival. This is why humans are naturally resistant to change because we prefer to stick to what we know and we do not like to step out of our comfort zones. By utilizing logic, rationalism, and emotional states to our advantage, although people are resistant to change, persuasion is still possible. For example, if Person B was trying to sell a new computer to Person A, he can say that his computer is 40% cheaper than another computer from a competing brand. Here the persuading person is offering a benefit which is logical and changes emotional state. The price point becomes a central point in the argument and the instant discount has an impact not only on the Person A's thinking, but also on her emotions. Saving personal resources can stir strong emotions in a person - and these emotions can result in helping a person to decide whether or not she should agree to the behavior change being suggested. Emotions and Thoughts

Humans are also emotional beings although it is true that humans are capable of complex computations and logical thinking. Our emotions play an important part in what we do and how we survive. Our thought process can influence our own emotional state, and vice versa. Our emotional states can also affect the way we think about an issue, person, or situation. By studying and focusing on the various aspects of a person's thought process, we will be able to persuade people more easily. We can use various persuasion strategies to accomplish the behavioral change that we are looking forward to. Single approach to persuasion may not work for every situation, and there is no real "secret code" that will help you to persuade people instantaneously. Persuasion is a communication process that you have to study & practice before you can apply it effectively in order to achieve set objectives.
