RPPN – PRIVATE RESERVE OF NATURAL HERITAGE
FORBIDDEN: Deforest, collect plants, light fires, hunt and catch bird, fish, soil water, littering and other harmful practices to the environment.
Mission The Pousada de Selva Mato Limpo confers intangible value to forests, exploring their wealth in a sustainable way. The preservation of native forests has become more cost effective and permanent, through the exploitation of tourism through the local nature. Over the past 28 years, the forest area, which was 50% of the total area of the farm Mato Limpo, was increased to over 80%.

Location and history The Pousada de Selva Mato Limpo is located in the Serra da Mantiqueira, among generous portions of Atlantic Forest, in region of Mato Limpo, with altitude ranging from 1.000 to 1.350 meters of altitude, in the municipality of Rio Preto/MG, in Zona da Mata. The municipality of Rio Preto/MG is situated in the valley of the Rio Preto river, with historical rich in gold and coffee cycles. During the gold rush, the region became known as ''forbidden zone'', because it was discovered a clandestine route where caravans drained part of the gold production of Minas Gerais State, in order to steal the tax authorities. At the coffee cycle, there were numerous farms, important and great, including the Santa Clara Farm, with fascinating building, with exactly 365 windows and that in addition to coffee production, was devoted also reproduction of slaves.

The Pousada de Selva Mato Limpo develop tourism in the Rio Preto region, always based on ethics and social responsibility. In partnership with renowned institutions, contributes to sustainable development of tourism and the preservation of the Mata Atl창ntica.
Supporting scientific research In partnership with the Federal University of Juiz de Fora - UFJF, Mato Limpo supports, through its RPPN, conducting research on the development of the Atlantic Forest. "THE PARTICULAR FORESTS AS ELEMENTS OF NATURAL REGIONAL CONSERVATION OF THE ZONA DA MATA MINEIRA."
Social and environmental responsibility
We attend groups and people with special needs, offering adapted accommodation and activities. Promote social integration of human beings with nature, by monitoring of qualified conductors, providing full security to people with various disabilities, including outdoor activities.

Chalets of various types, that can accommodate 1-6 people, arranged surrounding of the common areas of the hostel. Some of the chalets are adapted for people with special needs or reduced mobility.
Our Chalets Double and triple chalets Our chalets have a double bed, satellite TV, ceiling fan and minibar. They are ideal accommodation for couples, comfortably accommodating up to three people.
Family chalets The family chalets are the largest accommodations of our hostel. Accommodate comfortably up to 6 people and come with satellite TV, minibar, double bed and single downstairs and three single beds in the upper mezzanine.
Accessible chalets Chalets accommodating up to four people in comfort. Have a double bed, twin beds, satellite television, ceiling fan and minibar. Chalets adapted for people with special needs.
Entertainment
The common areas of our hostel we have a complete structure for your rest and fun. We have 25 meter pool (1), great for a good swim or just to cool off with water games, heated pool interconnected with relaxing sauna (4), gym (2), walking path, living room, TV room and dining room. The reception has souvenir shop and convenience (5), offering local crafts and the region of Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, in addition to homemade delicacies produced in the inn. Our packages offer full board, with all meals served in our dining room (3), complete with meals in the wood stove.
Activities in the nature
We offer visitors a true park adventures and contact with nature. In the midst of preserved Atlantic Forest, the structures for vertical s p o r t s , h o rs e b a c k r i d i n g a n d trekking, always in the company of expert guides, turn the drive families or group of friends in an intimate experience contact with nature, with all the necessary safety for your peace of mind. There are nine nature trails in the midst the Atlantic Forest, in the Serra da Mantiqueira, a waterfall in crystal clear waters, horseback riding, zip lining, rappelling, climbing wall, 25 meter pool, heated pool and jeep tour.

The trekking in Mato Limpo is an activity that has itineraries ranging from lookouts, waterfalls and hiking through the forests (3) of the region. We have adapted equipment (2), so that people with special needs can also share with us some adventures. Unique to Mato Limpo is the Aquatrekking (1), a trail traveled by in the water, with about 700 meters long and passing by several waterfalls of crystal clear water.
Horseback riding
Many of our tours can be made on horseback (7). We have docile animals (5) and appropriate equipment (4) for people with special needs, and monitoring of specialized guides (6), giving total comfort and safety for your enjoyment.
The tour jeep (8) is another fun option to know the area. On this tour mode, the visitor can choose between a visit to the waterfall Zenir or Stone House (9), one of the oldest buildings in the area and, according to locals, dates from the time of illegal gold paths, which had the region as a route of passage.
Rapeling, climbing wall and zip lining
Rapeling (10) through the Atlantic Forest, about 20 meters high, zip line 200 feet long and climbing wall (11) with 7 meters in height, make up o u r o p t i o n s fo r v e r t i c a l s p o r t s enthusiasts, using suitable equipment to practice sports.
Natural attractions
The RPPN Mato Limpo, with about 40 hectares, is home to Atlantic Forest preserved with a lot of attractions and natural beauty. Situated in the mountain range known as Serra Negra, in the ' ' S e r ro te d o M ato L i m p o ' ' , surroundings the city of Rio Preto, the place is home to water supplying the ParaĂba do Sul river basin, abundant quantity of streams and waterfalls that delight nature lovers. Natural attractions
Rivers, streams and waterfalls
Plenty of water, characteristic of the region, makes the waterfalls one of the biggest attractions of the tour. We begin with the Mato Limpo Waterfall (1), located only 150 meters from the hostel, hidden in a stretch of primary Atlantic Forest and easily accessible to the public. Surrounding the property, approximately 2,5km, can be performed jeep tour to the waterfall Zenir (2), a waterfall about 30 meters high. Finally, we are trekking to the Waterfall of the Yellow Water (3), down about 50 meters and the unusual color of the water, which suggests the place its name, and cave with approximately 120 meters in length.
Viewpoints and horizons
The high peaks of Serrote do Mato Limpo and regions of the Serra Negra are home to viewpoints that allow spotting a large and vast expanse of horizons. There are three options, that vary in distance and degree of difficulty. The Mirante do Cruzeiro (4), 1.180 meters above sea level and just 750 meters from the hotel, the Mirante da Serra (5), with an altitude of 1.260 meters and the Mirante do Mato Limpo (6), with 1.350 meters of altitude. The last two offer circuit approximately 4 km long through trails that run through stretches of forest and atlantic altitude forest, where you can see the mountain region of Rio de Janeiro, look to the Serra do Mar and observe the border between the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, in the valley of the Rio Preto river.
Caves and caverns
Because of its composition, the soil of the region provides the formation of caverns, resulting from erosion caused by the abundance of water, carefully carve their paths through the rock. Within the limits of Mato Limpo, we have the Grota dos Macacos (7), with a length of 600 meters of track, reaching the rock formation in the middle of Mata Atlânitca. In the surroundings, we find a cave known as Caverna da à gua Amarela (8), which has more than 120 meters down the mountain interior, nearby the waterfall named Cachoeira da à gua Amarela. We still have the Gruta do Funil (9), a cave located in the village known as Funil and holds a special attraction: inside the cave, wrapped in stories and legends of the region, there is a church, built in honor of the patron saint of the place. The name ''Funil'' is due to the fact that the stream disappears into the ground in front of a mountain, to resurface about 200 meters ahead, after the mountain. The place where the water begins its underpass is known as ''Funil''.
