Inside: The Anatomy of A Fox
The basic anatomy of a fox is that it has a slender body, a long nose, and pointed ears. Thin legs that are very strong aid them and can move up to a speed of 23 mph. Foxes have special padding on the bottom of their paws that allows them to conquer any terrain. Speed is a key element to their survival, the importance of this learned during youth while playing with their siblings. A fox can stay at top speed longer than any of its prey, and most of its predators.
The most common colors seen on foxes are various shades of white, red, brown, and black. White fur tends to run along their mouths and under their bellies. Some species have various shades of grey and black on them, like the Hoary fox. Long bushy tails are used for things greater than balance, for communication. Foxes have no verbal communication so they emit various scents through their tails that mean different things. The most common scent released is the one that marks the foxes territory, and warns outsiders to stay away.
The original specie of domesticated foxes is named the Silver Fox, or the
Siberian Fox. This specie is a morph between the common, Red Fox, and the Silver Morph Fox.
