PLAN AT 9.2 M Situated in Industrial area Chandigarh, the office building design focuses on the spatial arrangement of different functions and typologies of spaces. The office area is placed on the top floor to ensure privacy where as the middle floor serves as the cafeteria to cater both the employees and visitors. The showroom is on the ground floor to ensure easy access.

The design allows maximum natural light to enter the building through the provision of cutouts and balconies. The office working units have an open floor plan to avoid monotony. Thus the design tries to re-think office spaces differently without compromising on the essentials.

PEC market redesign Instead of having a single block, the market units are spread out to invite more functons. The retractable roof form, made of Reynobond panels which add an element of interest to the university market, accessed mostly by the youth.
Inspired by the grid planning of Chandigarh, the redesign of PEC market situated in sector 12 used basic polygonal geometry for arrangement of spaces. Replacing the rectangular grid with a hexagonal one allowing more permutations for the massing as well as circulation

Everyone is fighting our own demons which the other knows nothing about. The answer of this crux lies in giving everyone an equal opportunity to introspect themselves, plunge into their memories to get the better side of themselves and also to provide a common ground where one sees the other with understanding eyes. All the inequalities, stereotypes and negativity in the world emanate from a single point- the human mind. a few misconceptions that our brain stops questioning, results in the creation of an irrational barrier which is then materialised in the world by our own actions.

The spaces are such that they are useless without the user itself. It is the user which creates the functions, the hierarchy of spaces and the pathways. The drastic height of the second level and the minimal structural elements subconciously push the limit of human psyche, motivating and urging the user to experiment with the space. The user feels the power of his actions, the consequences of his thoughts. He is able to tap into his creativity, exploring new horizons of his mind and the space around him.

Multi purpose deck This space was designed to connect the urban context to the design. The space can be used for social gatherings by simply altering the metamorphous panels. The space acts like a stage to the maidan, providing a well developed platform for performers or cultural functions. MULTI PURPOSE DECK

Smart city as an idea started as stio Que an incentive to catalyse the working of the city. However it came across as an expression of impatient capital. The commercial motivation corrupts the very entity it is supposed to serve. The problem with the notion of smart city is that it sets up the environment to be fashioned in a single image. To be socially relevent, the cities have to grow out of roots. They cannot be transplanted so easily. If they are embraced by the user, it means embracing a life of heightened privacy, micro control and safety at the cost of reduced activity to tune to the surrounding environment. They are converting cities into caged boxes which promise satisfy all human needs.

Smart Great city A great city is not a spatial entity with sociological outcomes. The term great is forward looking and open to interpretation. It has no preconceived notion linked with it. What might be great for one might not be great for another. Having said that, every city in one way or the other is great because had this not been the case, why would people flock there in droves. On the contrary to smart, great cities adapt with time whereas the technological advancements proposed in the smart city concept would soon be obsolete leaving no room for adaptation. The great city is cloudy, and that is its immense strenght. The great city is also not the one without the problems. These problems too help in shaping the city. A city fabric is too dense and complex to be judged with one single image.

A smart city is a como ap g plex, hybrid space held pin Map together by different layers. Each layer in the city is strongly bound to other layers by a thousand invisible chords. They are crucial in setting up a framework for the city. These patterns make a certain language which is indegenous to every city. l‘

Inferences Weak interlinks: 1. Public - Government interaction 2. Human resource - Climate 3. Culture - Infrastructure A lack of dialogue between culture and human resource proves that the city is young, on its way to form its own culture and yet to mature. Strong interlinks: 1. Human resource - Infrastructure 2. Infrastructure - Mobility 3. Human resource - Economy The city character is dominated by infrastructure which shares a healthy dialogue with all the other layers.

Urban labs: An emerging paradigm
g-sen trophy 2015 1.
talkthecity is an “open source construction kit.” It enables everyone with an internet connection access a shared library of structural designs
Users simply choose a design, by clicking a button marked, “Build your own lab.” It generates a set of cutting files for each of the part that goes into that particular structure.
HOW TO BUILD YOUR OWN URBAN LAB: STEP BY STEP
2.
Using a CNC machine, the parts can be ‘printed’ from a standard sheet material such as plywood, metal etc.
3.
All of the parts in the construction kit are numbered, and designed to minimize confusion.
4.
The system is designed so that it slots together using wedges and pegs.

Before the Industrial Revolution, barn-raisings were a common occurence. Why shouldn’t family and friends be involved in the construction of a modern house?
A building’s panel are screwed into place. A small team can complete a house structure in about a day.
Mod cons might not be included on our site, but they can certainly be incorporated. The frame of the house can easily be adapted to include the likes of cladding, insulation and windows as well as 8. other amenities.
