1948 Dior’s first collection, the revolutionary, full-skirt “New look”, is a sensation.
1947 Designer Christian Dior opens a couture house at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris
1957 Christian Dior died suddently of a heart attact. Yves Saint Laurent became the Artistic Director.
1950 The company began giving licenses to various products under the brand Christian Dior. It was the first company to adopt this business model..
1960 Laurent was replaced Marc Bohan
1969 Launch of cosmetics collection
1988 Christian Dior became part of the LVMH group
1985 The visionary financier Bernard Arnault is elected President of Christian Dior.
1991 Christian Dior was listed on the Paris Stock Exchange
1989 Gianfranco Ferré succeeds Marc Bohan as artistic director.
2007 The Christian Dior fashion house celebrated its 60th anniversary
1997 John Galliano was appointed as to succeed Gianfranco Ferré as artistic director
The house of Dior was established in 1947 at 30 Avenue Montaigue in Paris by Chirstian Dior whose all collections express femininity, elegance, sophistication and romance. His first fashion collection, ‘New Look’ revolutionised how women dressed and influenced the fashion industry for over years. The Notorious Hollywood and European upper-class is Dior’s immediate client. Dior has expanded its business into many countries all over the world and entred into various product lines. Dior’s creativity is currently under the direction of John Galliano who have proved to keep the brand’s spirit alive and successful as seen in popularity of various collections and complimentary from high-fashion magazine.
