GPS system is based on artificial satellite emissions of radio signals containing information for object positioning

The Gps system is made of: - GPS signal: Frequencies (L1 and L2) and Codes (C/A and P) - GPS Trasmission satellite - GPS receivers

The accuracy of the single GPS receiver is called,“navigation accuracy” and it is no more than few meters.

To obtain better accuracies you need to use the “Differential”: - Work with 2 GPS receivers : Reference - Rover - Work with the permanet references stations: Smartnet - Receiver the signal from at least 5 satellites - Reception of every signals at the same time

The Differential is a relative calculation method

The Differential creates an accurate position of the Rover compared to the Reference.

The accuracy obtained with the Differential is of some centimeter. 16

Base-Rover survey method How it work: The reference and the Rover comunicate with Radio Modem The calculation function are inside the controller (Differential) The reference sends to the rover the necessary calculation Data The position is immediately available The accuracy is of some centimetres (1-3cm) One-Man System: a user can do by himself all the survey steps, but he should locate and start up the reference base station every day at the same reference point. 19
